Yes I think Hydrogen in shipping and maybe trucks could work. I see Toyota are in trouble in the states for continuing to sell their Hydrogen Mirai when most of the refuelling sites have closed!

MrP - that would have been science fiction not that long ago.

This is the type of application where hydrogen can make a difference :-

Skinny, yes car and house insurance are significantly cheaper here. Presumably because of the low population density in the Highlands Just 1/7 on the quiz

I dislike a lot of the technology they are putting in cars these days which just seems unnecessary, but I must admit that having got used to this in my current car I do see the benefits of this stuff - albeit I worry about us getting too reliant on it all!

I see the pandemic driven "Working From Home" which has done so much to destroy customer service and attitude to work is reaching new levels, with staff at ONS now voting to strike if they are "forced" to actually get off their backsides and go into the office to do some work for a mere 2 days per week. All this utter cr4p about increased productivity really gets my goat. Of course they prefer it, why wouldn't they when they can swan around as they please with their computer turned on in case an email comes in! Sorry but this is one of the main reasons we as a country are struggling with productivity and work ethic.

Morning All.

3/7 for me and I knew one of them for a change!

Very grey start today, we even had light rain at some point overnight. That's after the highest solar day of the year so far yesterday with 12.38kWh at home and 154kWh on the new system at work. Still struggling to get Eon to put us on the Smart Export Guarantee at work after we cancelled the deemed export (at their request) on 21st February so I will fight for them to backdate anything we have exported which must be quite a few hundred kWh since then.

Good Morning.

Re car insurance - I assume that where you are in the country must have quite a bearing then?

Are we past the point of no return? :-

Decent week for my folio so far this week. Ahead of the FTSE by about 1%

My car insurance is with Bank of Scotland and is due next week.
It going up from £216 to £242
I wasn't able to get it cheaper elsewhere this year.

For my policies I always check on Money Supermarket to hunt for a better deal - but could find nothing cheaper this time around.

Carp, personally, I don't care where my products come from as long as I get value and reliability. Our solar panels and storage batteries were from UK manufacturers, inverter was from China.

Regards car insurance, our recent quote was £50 cheaper than last year, total was £520 for my wife's 1.4L Mazda2 and my 2.0L Subaru Forester, both petrol. That was with Aviva.

My folio is up on the day, not sure by how much as I haven't done the calculations. Will need a really good day tomorrrow to avoid a poor week and becoming further isolated at the bottom of the standings.

Felt cold today, grey, with intermittent showers and a cold breeze. Temps forecast to fall to 1c overnight.

wllm :)

I agree same with electric cars from China that are cheap so other car makers cannot compete now they want tariffs on them.

Seen in the news today the West moaning because China are making too many solar panels?

Not sure on what others views are on this but personally don't see the issue.
Surely a good thing if they ate making something in excess that the world needs and cheap too.

Surely instead we should benefit by having trained installers and services staff rather than complaining that we don't make any?

I mean it'd likely take us years just to get the planning permissions to make the factories to make the damn things!

I'm sure I also heard that China installed locally more in a year than the US has in 10yrs.

A mad world!

MrP - my quote doubled, not the amount I paid (elsewhere) :-)

My last claim was for a stolen 1600E Cortina in 1978, I've never had a point on my licence - so I'm hardly a risk - I assume SAGA are looking to get out of car insurance?

I was surprised my car insurance only went up £10 to £188. We've had it nearly 4 years and it looks to have only depreciated about £1k or so, too.

+0.7% for my lot. PLUS +3.5%.

Watery sunshine after frost this morning then rain this afternoon. The clothes are finishing drying inside. 13.5C after 0.1C.

Quite a decent day in the end, +0.70% with top risers SSE, NG. & HFEL

Wasn't there some new rule that came in to force insurers not to offer better deals for new customers? Whenever rules get forced upon businesses, prices do tend to rise as they have to make it up somewhere! I have a feeling there is an element of "red herring" with EV's easy to blame. Your experience Skinny seems to prove that as I presume yours isn't an EV?
