21/3/2024 07:15 | Good Morning. Headline roundup :- | skinny
21/3/2024 00:14 | Fed Signals Three Rate Cuts Are Still Likely, Despite Inflation Uptick Powell says Fed likely to slow asset runoff ‘fairly soon’ Officials lift forecasts for growth, core inflation in 2024 (Bloomberg) | philanderer
20/3/2024 18:30 | Barely moved all day. +0.1% We just had another one of those bangs that set the birds flying - more of a very, very load car door slam than a window rattler, this time. Another sonic bang or something else? Horrible day. Drizzly and dark. 13.4C after 8.7C. | aleman
20/3/2024 18:00 | I finished up 0.51%. I mentioned a couple of months ago, that I feel like I just collect dividends lately - there is little or no growth in UK equities - a bit like the Country as a whole! A largely bright and warm day @17C. FTSE XDs tomorrow -6.58%. | skinny
20/3/2024 17:43 | Up 0.2% MSHL bounceing from mon slump,EQlS on bid roumours,BA.RR. best risers. ZOO,BP.BGO.worst fallers.(FNX,IUG,C4X | malcolm caton
20/3/2024 17:35 | I'm up +0.170% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.012%). Best rises: KGF +2.50%, SGRO +2.32% and UU. +2.19%. Worst falls: S32 -3.80%, ULVR -1.45% and IGG -1.36%. Seems to be some yo-yoing. Nice day today. Got 15 shirts washed and dried. DF | deanforester
20/3/2024 17:31 | Portfolio barely moved +0.01% , SGRO and NG. the best , BP and ULVR bottom of the pile. Lovely dry day 16C and sunny this afternoon . Had shorts on when I went for a walk. Sainsbury's this morning quite busy and prices are definitely moving up again across the board. Wok out tonight for stir fry kung pao chicken and a bottle of merlot. | philanderer
20/3/2024 17:06 | Bit of a rollercoaster for my lot, decent day today +0.51% with INVP, NG. & SSE leading the pack. | mrphil
20/3/2024 16:48 | Another good day for BA. With todays rise now a 'four bagger' for the Folio. Will be liable for CGT though should I decide to sell out. +0.40% folio, [FTSE All-Share +0.10%] INVP, CMCX, BA., NCYF, PLUS. ENSI was the only material faller. Relief for the new coach to get some points on the road last night, Magpies January signing from VIborg FF looks useful, been eased in gradually | blueliner
20/3/2024 09:43 | Morning everyone. Must have rained during the night , still damp outside. Good win for The Magpies. Interest in London listed shares seems to be disappearing. | philanderer
20/3/2024 09:40 | You are correct, Aleman. The CPI has barely changed since May 2023. Month CPI Change since 05/232023 05 131.3 0.002023 06 131.5 0.15%2023 07 130.9 -0.30%2023 08 131.3 0.00%2023 09 132 0.53%2023 10 132 0.53%2023 11 131.7 0.30%2023 12 132.2 0.69%2024 01 131.5 0.15%2024 02 132.3 0.76% Just 0.76% increase This time, 0.15% last month. DF | deanforester
20/3/2024 09:09 | Last month saw the first of 4 biggish rises in the same months last year to drop out. The 9-month CPI rise from last May to Feb/24 is only 0.76%. CPI seems very likely on track to drop below 2% by May when those other months drop out, especially given the lower domestic bills from April, however the minimum wage and oil creeping up might counter that. In practice, many employers seem to be delivering wages rises before April, so the effect of the minimum wage rise might be getting spread out and having some input already. So, CPI still looks like it might go below 2% in Spring but .... then who really knows the future? | aleman
20/3/2024 08:33 | Hang on, better than expected CPI and the useless FTSE sells off again? WTF? | justiceforthemany
20/3/2024 08:19 | Morning All. Aleman, that really is shocking, surely that can't be the going rate? We need a few more of these | mrphil
20/3/2024 08:07 | Good morning. Grey and very light drizzle. Ho hum. Well, at least yesterday is over. It finished with Notts County only playing well for 5 or 10 minutes but that being enough to see us off comfortably. The Bantams' team selection was odd again for a 3rd match and Pointon was an unplayed sub again. There were only about 4 to 5k home fans turned up even though we have 15k season ticket holders. I think that says it all but a small online poll suggests around 1/3rd will not reneweThey were asking if this is the 3rd consecutive manager that has got fed up after starting brightly and is now actively trying to get himself sacked. The missing fans all want the owner to sell and the CEO sacked. | aleman
20/3/2024 07:10 | Good Morning. GBP CPI y/y 3.4% 3.5% 4.0% GBP Core CPI y/y 4.5% 4.6% 5.1% | skinny
19/3/2024 19:50 | Unfortunately the cost of care when you need it at old age is just another busted thing in this country! For a long time I've wondered how they justify charging so much as it's not like they are paying there staff high end wages! I bet its linked to insurance and medical costs.. crazy amounts I imagine. Vets were in news last week charging ~£20 just for some paracetamol! | carpingtris
19/3/2024 17:45 | Portfolio -0.08% , top fallers WIX (on results) , NICL (stupid spread), HILS and DGE. Good gains for ULVR, BP and SHEL. Early rain stopped so I got the ladders out and started pruning the last tree. The rain then came back. And then it stopped , ladders out . And then it rained . Hopeless day weather wise. 15C Aleman, sorry to hear your tribulations on such a matter. I hope it's resolved soon for you and your family. Straightforward bangers and mash tonight. | philanderer
19/3/2024 17:32 | I'm up +0.138% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.204%). Best rises: ULVR +3.08%, WDS +2.51% and BA. +1.72%. Worst falls: RKT -4.52%, TW. -1.62% and S32 -1.50%. Unilever's decision to get shot of Ben & Jerry is a good idea. They have been a pain in the proverbial for some years now. RKT did have a dead cat bounce yesterday. Did some gardening this morning, round the lawn edges. However I spotted several orchids peeping through, so I was able to do a bit before they stopped me getting at it. Bluebells are thinking about flowering. DF | deanforester
19/3/2024 17:18 | I hope you get it resolved Aleman, I can't imagine the frustration and worry. As for Bailey - take your pick at recent headlines. | skinny
19/3/2024 17:15 | Andrew Bailey ‘already too late’ on rate cuts, warns Citi | m.j.g
19/3/2024 17:14 | Goodness, me. What a bad day. DEC contributed to -1.0% and a loss of income. The dispute at my Mum's care home seems to be escalating. With no explanation for a previous massive rise in fees, they've increased them again. Get this, now asking for over £150k per year yet they have yet to comply with my sister's seemingly reasonable requests for a breakdown. I don't know if they are trying to price my Mum out or make for an even bigger deficit if and when it ends up in court in the hopes a judge settles in the middle, perhaps? It's all getting very weird and stressful, with the council, trading standards and CAB all having an interest in how it is developing as my Mum's assets are running out now. A bright day with sunny spells. 16.2C after 10.1C. Shame I could not get away from the phone. | aleman
19/3/2024 17:09 | Skinny, it's even brought on a nervous stutter! 😁 Rubbish day for my lot with far too much red around for my liking, -0.60% FSFL, AFC & INVP leading the fallers. Not sure what's up with FSFL other than lack of sunshine. | mrphil
19/3/2024 17:06 | Down another 0.40%, in what is becoming monotonously predictable. The rain has just started here. | skinny |
