Todays thriller finished just +0.07% for the folio, with the two stocks reporting CSN and ADVT both leading gainers.
Will not be doing a s/sheet until tomorrow adjusting for dividends, winners & losers etc as I'm in the wrong house.
So using ADVFN portfolio
On the week : +0.46%
Folio YTD -1.78%

Traditionally I always go Dales walking at Easter, usually there's some warmer weather rather than this mudfest. Hope you can find some dry weather for your break.

Picked up prescription earlier an called at Tescos on way back,was busy,but I cant understand why people will stop in the middle of an aisle blocking everone else while they deliberate on what to purchase,(as my sister in law says its my grumpy old man coming to the fore).
While I was in tescos the heavens opened,has stoped now,

A decent day to end the short week. On the week +0.61% taking the YTD to +1.07% and the highest value since last May but still a way to go before I beat last February's all time high!

Looks like there may be some breaks in the weather over the long weekend. Need to try out my new electric cordless chainsaw and we'll be having an Easter Hunt in our woods for the grandkids but not sure what we'll be hiding yet!

Finished up 0.2%

API - one of my largest holdings fell almost 10% after their merger was called off. That was a 0.8% hit on its own. I had bought CREI as a hedge (+0.3%) which reduced the pain a little. MNG(xd)/MEX also fell.

KITW had another excellent day on news of another acquisition (0.4%) and more ups than downs made it an acceptable day.


Well thats the end of Q1.

I had 5 stocks crater on results and not recover (BGO/SPEC/MTEC/CPI/AGFX) these are at or near their YTD lows. The first two were significant holdings, the last 3 were only punts.

My biggest two KITW/AV are up about 40/15% - they've put me above the line.

I've sold 3 shares KETL/RCH/RKT - I've bought SPEC/LIO/CREI at it stands I made the correct call on three, was wrong on two and one is the same level


Overall in the folio 10 are down significantly, 7 are up and the remaining 12 are roughly level. Pretty average overall.

Our Solar installation completed, had to download an app, solis cloud, to see our energy use, however, can't seem to get connected. Hopefully, teething issues that we will reslove in the coming days. PHNX doing well but, RECI been very week these past few weeks.

Energy bills are set to dip by another 7.7% in July, on top of next week’s sharp fall, but will rise again by next winter, sector experts project.

Energy consultancy Cornwall Insight has published its latest projections for the Energy Price Cap. Based on current wholesale energy prices and futures markets, Cornwall predicts that the cap figure will fall to £1,560 on 1 July. However, it will then rise to £1,631 on 1 October, before remaining close to unchanged at £1,634 for the three months from 1 January.

The SAE gain now only half what it was earlier, maybe should have sold and bought back but the spread would have taken most of it.

After a promising sunny start, winter has returned with yet more heavy rain and feeling really cold. The wind is picking up too. Local roads were already flooded earlier, it's going to be a mess out there.

Also looking for some dividend payments due today, little chance of getting these before Easter I think going on past form.

Feels like we are going back into winter.

API taking a hit after the merger failed, I hedged this by holding the other party (CREI) but at the moment it looks like a down day. Briefly saw a bit on sky about how much power data centres use and it could be as high as 30% of the total electricity supply in Ireland. That sounds like madness.

Good morning. Wet overnight. Sunny now. I want some better weather. This cold of 16 days has seen little discomfort but it's been very snotty. My head has just about cleared but I still have a loose phlegmy cough that is proving annoyingly persistent even though I'm not suffering. I'm just sick of people giving me dirty looks even though I move away and cough down beneath the plentiful layers I am still having to wear in current rubbish weather. They don't see that I'm being careful but then turn around and give me daggers!

Good to see the inbreeding of dogs getting some bad press. Our friend has two dachshunds and she's always telling me not to play with them in various ways in case their backs suffer, even though they're young and want to play. It's not right. We should not be making dogs suffer for dog owner's vanity.

Up a bit again this morning. Could it be a decent week for a change?

SAE looking very good this morning and I'm now only down 30% in the SIPP and 7% in the Drawdown, but I have a fair few so today will help! Sadly already dropped a little from the high but hopefully we can hang on to a decent gain?

Finished down 0.05% Mixed day. Announced after the close that the bid for API has not passed and they will instead have a managed wind down. Thats probably going to hit me a touch tomorrow.

Short hit this evening until the rain hit
