07/10/2005 15:09 | Beat me to it :-) | xdavid
07/10/2005 15:07 | Director buying :o)) £44,000's worth too...he's materially increased his holding: | rivaldo
07/10/2005 12:57 | Wotcha chaps. Xdavid, that's the way the alerts work - probably as new web sites are added to the search engine article come up which weren't found before. I filter out many more than I post! As you say, good news is worth reading and this contract underpins a large percentage of MSI's group turnover going forward at a stroke - in just one of the three arms of the business. | rivaldo
07/10/2005 11:48 | Hi Rivaldo - I think your news alert is a bit slow, or the "Government News Network" is ;-). That report is dated 14th September and just repeats the previous one we all got excited about. But nice to read again all the same :-) | xdavid
07/10/2005 11:02 | Good find Rivaldo - just makes these look even cheaper doesn't it! CR | cockneyrebel
07/10/2005 07:40 | Good Article Rivaldo thanks | leopold555
07/10/2005 07:27 | More coverage arrived today on my news alert: "Ministry Of Defence (National) HI-TECH WEAPON WILL PROTECT SHIPS FROM ATTACK CRAFT UK Type 23 Frigates are to receive one of the most advanced small-calibre gun systems in the world thanks to a £15 million deal with MSI Defence Systems. Designed specifically to deal with threats from fast attack craft such as high-powered inflatables or speedboats, the new weapons - the DS30 Mk2 Automatic 30mm Naval Gun - will use the latest optics and sensors to detect, track and destroy 'close-in' threats. The contract will see 26 systems delivered. Each system consists of an Electro Optic Gun Fire Control System integrated with an upgraded mount and the ATK Bushmaster II cannon. Minister for Defence Procurement, Lord Drayson said: "There is a need to protect our ships from small, fast moving craft and this system will give us the flexibility, rate of fire, accuracy and dependability we require. "A proven track record, use of cutting-edge target acquisition equipment and advanced target tracking algorithms coupled with good value for money made it the obvious choice to equip our Type 23 frigates. "Although we will always have a human in control of the system, it has the ability to detect and track targets entirely automatically, and the Bushmaster cannon can fire a range of ammunition making it flexible, suitable for future growth and ideal for a range of tasks including air defence." The system uses a laser range finder, a thermal imager, an electro-optical director and a colour TV camera to locate and identify potential targets. The system is expected to enter service towards the end of 2006. Two will be fitted to each Type 23 frigate over an eight year programme. All production of the gun systems will be done by MSI Defence Systems in Norwich. Notes to editors * The contract was awarded to MSI Defence Systems Ltd following a competition. * Production of the gun systems will take place at MSI, Norwich. The initial requirement is for 26 systems. The contract covers both the production and the installation/setting to work of the guns. * The prototype system was trialled under the UK MoD Applied Research Programme (ARP) in April 2003 on HMS Somerset." | rivaldo
06/10/2005 12:53 | Guess now it's clear why... | wiganer
06/10/2005 09:28 | Just tried to get an online sell quote with TDWH and couldn't. | wiganer
06/10/2005 09:25 | try your buy again with the offer down graham, might get them at 128p now - or, as seems more likely the mm's are messing aboutin the hope to trigger a seller and you'll get refused again for anything over 1K They had no stock at all yesterday. CR | cockneyrebel
06/10/2005 09:10 | "can anyone explain?" Sounds like the MM wanted 1.30 and you would only pay 1.28 :-) What's to explain? Whether the computer shows trades as a 'buy' or a 'sell' is down to where the mid price is at the time the trade is reported. So if the price has risen in between a buy and it being reported then it is likely to be reported as a sell since the mid price will now be above the price paid - hence computer shows it as a sell. Fact is, these recorded buy or sell decisions are just a computer's best guess. | xdavid
05/10/2005 22:34 | Tried to buy 4k this morning was told I could only have 1k at 1.28 or pay 1.30 for 4k. Broker said all mm's trading MSI had buy orders in, I refused to pay the 2p premium for 4k so got 1k at 1.28. Yet only 5,914 shares traded all day, can anyone explain? And my 1k Buy at 8:55am shows as a Sell at 16:45pm? maybe it was connected to the other 3k which wasn't fulfilled. | graham_brown1
05/10/2005 20:45 | Got in late today and happy to see a definitive breakout on a pretty miserable day. With that huge defence order on the books for the next few years, all 3 divisions apparently in successful and thriving niches and an extremely low P/E on historic, let alone future EPS.....it's looking good :o)) | rivaldo
05/10/2005 12:08 | Ooops, didn't mean to suggest I was taking profit in MSI ! Absolutely not! I've added an edit to my post above :-) | xdavid
05/10/2005 11:52 | Yep I am hanging on | leopold555
05/10/2005 11:46 | results in 6 weeks, break out, low single digit forward PE, pension surplus, director buying, cracking orders....I'm not selling for some time yet myself. CR | cockneyrebel
05/10/2005 11:39 | Oooops, missed posting another "oooohhhh" this morning :-) My attention taken up elsewhere - red across the screen! 8-0 Do I take profit or will it all bounce tomorrow? That eternal question! [EDIT] NOT selling MSI !!!! The question is do I take profit on some oils and miners I have, before they drop further through others doing same? (sorry for confusion !) | xdavid
05/10/2005 10:08 | CR LOL! I have gone goggle eyed looking at the charts for this, ITM and BDI :-) | leopold555
05/10/2005 10:04 | Breakout this morning - new high - breakouts in this stock tend to rather exciting - look at the past chart :-) CR | cockneyrebel
05/10/2005 10:01 | Can we expect a tree shake pretty soon so that MMs can get stock? Leo | leopold555
05/10/2005 09:54 | Nice start on a pretty downbeat day - 3.5p up on 2k shares bought presumably means there's still no shares around. Further delayed trades to be reported maybe too. | rivaldo
04/10/2005 22:39 | Good on ya CR - from the chart am I correct in seeing (just!) a breakout? The director buying and share shifting just before the closed period should see the price a lot higher imo too. Even assuming only 15p EPS this year at a P/E of 10, which allows hardly any growth given the impact of the share buy-backs, would give a price of 150p. I'm hoping for significantly more than that though - say, 17p EPS at a P/E of 12 for 204p by the year end. | rivaldo
04/10/2005 19:33 | I can't believe how tough it was to buy 4K today - having to pay a 2p premium on that small amount is unheared of in this one in the last 18 months I've held this stock. There can't be any stock around imo. With the company buying stock and director buying too it feels very positive imo. If we get the buyers showing up before the results as I suspect, and stock is this short then we're in for a sharp squeeze north imo. CR | cockneyrebel
04/10/2005 13:01 | Drat I knew I should have bought more :-( | leopold555 |
