working capital I think - a lot of up-front costs for the business which I take as a positive as it's indicative of a strong order pipeline imo.

CR - the company appears to have a load of cash yet still has 50% gearing. Do you know of any reason for that?

Well I got myself another 5K at 112.75p this am - you have to buy the dips and the quietness imo. Then just sit and wait for payback.

After all, where else can you get 120% eps growth on a single digit forward PE?

Xdavid, if the figures fail to do the talking as they are at the moment I may have to buy some more!

Now down to a historic P/E of 8.9...

Now on a historic P/E of 9.1, and probably a current P/E of, say, 7.7 based on 15p EPS?

Given this from the final results in June we should see a decent rebound in the run-up to results, as per last year:

"The Group order book remains healthy, well balanced and aligned with the
established patterns associated within the individual businesses."

yep, MSI don't do news as David said.

I'm used to it now - spike, level off, retrace, level off, spike,............

Just live with the peace imo - you can sleep on it :-)

Mykai, I don't think MSI does "news". Have a look at their past RNS issues - they have to be one of the quietest companys around. I actually like this! Let the figures do the talking - it eventually permeates through to the market.

and don't even think about 'support' or 'resistance' lines in such an illiquid stock. Just one buy or sell is enough to move it. The spread and volatility is such that it is just not worth considering trading this.

Even with the recent rises it's still the best bargain I know. I'm happy to hold for next 12 months at least (unless it hits £2.50 before then :-)

Just the summer blues for a relatively illiquid stock imo mykai. same happened last year - have a look at the chart and what happened next...

No probs xdavid. Another small breakout today. Still on a historic P/E of 9.9 - what the current year P/E will be is anyone's guess, but I suspect it's nearer 8 or 8.5 based on a minimum guesstimate this year of around 15p EPS imo.

EDIT - interesting 67,000 share trade at 123p - clearance of an overhang causing the price to go up?

I'm absolutely sure it was Wednesday xdavid, so a nice divi to come. And now we have another breakout :o)) Happy days.

I have to say the FD sounded extremely down to earth and keen to get away from me on the phone to run his business. Not someone who was going to hype anything up, just someone letting the numbers do the talking. I'm more and more convinced this is a little unknown gem.

Pretty impressive performance today considering the shares went ex-div - the real gain today was around 2.75p.

Assuming conservative EPS growth this year of 20% based on my post above to 15.24p EPS, MSI is on a current year P/E of just 8. That's without even thinking about the effect on this year's EPS of a full year's worth of the 2.1m shares which were bought in during the year to April 2005, or the £0.8m cash balance.

I managed to get a few words with MSI's FD. All good stuff. Main points:

- the move to AIM : no decision has yet been made. My interpretation is that this is still some way off, if it even happens at all, which it might not;
- all 3 divisions are still going well. All have particular niches which can grow further;
- the AGM was yesterday. No trading statement was issued, as there's been no change since the outlook in the final results. This is excellent news, since this was the outlook then:

"The Group order book remains healthy, well balanced and aligned with the
established patterns associated within the individual businesses.

As a result, we are cautiously optimistic that the markets that we serve will
remain strong throughout the remainder of this calendar year. Naturally, we
remain vigilant to detect any change in the position but currently these markets are not indicating any signs of the slowdown in activity being reported in many other industrial activities."

Note that the shares go ex-div on Wednesday 3rd so, all else being equal, price will be marked down 1.65p (well, probably rounded to just 1.5p).

Yet another new high for MSI, but still on a historic P/E of 9.6 - the current year P/E is probably more like 8.2 on potential EPS of 15p.

OT : CR, did you see my post just above about your CHR note?

OT again : mykai, stock is hard to get in CGR - on results it'll be even harder to get!
