17/8/2018 07:50 | Yertiz I take it you have had a good look at Syncona. Interesting list of investments including the Pioneer fund. Are there any that you think have a particularly good chance of success? Autolus is performing well on Nasdaq. To my mind Syncona is a very well run company - better than Arix. Up 66% in 12 months. And up again so far today with lots of buys. | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 23:07 | Minerve, I like your posts when you are not being deliberately provocative. You have an interesting perspective. I'm still a bit puzzled by the 'my priority is not to lose money' thing though. I'm surprised you haven't got a big enough war chest built up for that to not be a concern. But maybe I'm misjudging your age and maybe you are younger than I'm imagining? Ryelodge/Meanwhile is over 70 I reckon but I could be wrong. | ![]() gettingrichslow
16/8/2018 16:40 | Good day for Melrose today. Possibly investors buying in advance of interims in early September. Lots of good news releases from GKN. Can only be good when selling the parts not required like Wheels. Also shows the customers are remaining with GKN post Melrose acquisition. In fact, new tie-ups. Driveline electrics looking very good. The tie up with Jaguar, and the performance at Shelsley Walsh, can only be good when selling here and abroad. They have patents on this technology as shown in my previous patent win post. Aerospace also looking to expand and developing new products. | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 15:44 | Just for MW/Rye GKN Wheels Profi-Grip says its wheel is proving its value in the heatwave experienced across Europe, with the extremely dry ground requiring much higher traction for soil tillage. Featuring a unique profile designed to eliminate tyre-to-rim slippage, Profi-Grip was launched last year specifically to meet the growing demand from ever-larger and more-powerful tractors. | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 15:39 | Yertiz Can’t disagree about Roche. This is why I like Syncona. They only invest in companies in these sorts of areas. So with products that do good and the possibility of acquisitions by large pharmaceuticals it’s a double winner. Autolus at its highest ever share price today. | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 14:24 | Some sense from Minerve - Roche is a great company. In comparison with their main competitors, Abbott, Bayer (now Siemens) and Beckman-Coulter, they are head and shoulders above in terms of transparency, innovation and forward planning in Diagnostics; and Pharma are tailoring treatments for the individual with impressive successes. Monoclonal Antibody focused tumour kill, Stem cell cultivation and targeting for anything from eyesight restoration to diabetes to MD, Molecular diagnostics and sequencing for gene therapy, Roche are at the forefront. A wise choice. | ![]() yertiz
16/8/2018 13:50 | That's how Plus makes its money - must be making a barrel load from its own volatility...! | ![]() yertiz
16/8/2018 13:13 | Lots of money to be made from Plus volatility at the moment. Not me. Going up as I post. | ![]() brexitplus

16/8/2018 10:21 | GKN Wheels has launched a new high-speed tractor wheel, designed to address the issues of run-out that can occur on manually adjustable track wheels when used on high speed applications. | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 10:17 | Getting I think, markets willing, Melrose will rise slowly up to the interims in a couple of weeks. Lots to declare then - GKN progress, Nortek, Ergotron, GKN Metallurgy and other “divisionsR | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 09:59 | Well, with Brexit on the horizon, and you all liking holidays in the sun, it might be time to think about your holding denominations. Soft Brexit is seen by one analyst to have a 58% chance whilst a Hard Brexit @ WTO is seen as 18%. In other words, there is still a very high chance of a run on the £. In my portfolio I have plenty of earners on the $ but little elsewhere - other than the £ of course. I have Roche which I bought a while back and is steadily doing well. Roche is a portfolio gem IMO. It isn't going to make you a millionaire, and will not grow fast, but being based in a safe currency (CHF/Swiss Franc) it helps (along with cash) when the sh*t hits the fan. It is better than cash in a way though in that it yields whilst waiting for the unpredictable and Roche's business projections are now starting a growth curve. I'm looking at Novartis too. Withholding tax is a pain - you'll only get 65% of the dividend unless you claim, but after the tax it still returns much better than cash. Net yield will be about 2.4%. | minerve
16/8/2018 09:54 | Getting. I’ve looked at RPC before when it was stock market darling. Not for me. Plastics is a “difficultR Analysts comment on needing to see a firm strategy. | ![]() brexitplus

16/8/2018 09:42 | Hi folks. I've unfiltered you. Let's try and be decent shall we? Well done on your Plus 500 so far. Still not for me though. | minerve
16/8/2018 09:41 | Yertiz, B+, would be interested in both your views on RPC (plastics packaging). Have been hammered recently by the environmental concerns. But 25 yrs of increasing division etc. They are highly acquisitive but that has been a concern for many so they're laying off that for a while. Ive got a feeling they're undervalued but they're heavily shorted. Any thoughts? | ![]() gettingrichslow
16/8/2018 09:34 | Piddling with rain here! And cold - 15 degrees. Just now looking and waiting for the next opportunity to slap me in the face! Would have been Syncona, but the paperwork to buy a few k's shares was just too much. Any other ideas, proposals, watch-listings gratefully received! | ![]() yertiz
16/8/2018 09:33 | Getting. Also Syncona which is flying at the moment. I try to pick companies not directly correlated with the markets and economy so Halma and Ashtead not exactly my cup of tea. I prefer more private equity related businesses. Melrose, Burford and Syncona fit this bill, and Plus will do well in volatile markets. 18 and raining here!!! | ![]() brexitplus
16/8/2018 09:26 | Yertiz, B+, given the commonality in parts of our portfolios, I'm guessing you two are both also having a storming day so far. Plus500 continuing upwards, MRO recovering, Halma, Ashtead, Burford all looking good too. Off for a day out in Porto Cristo in a minute - 33 degrees and sunny here. | ![]() gettingrichslow
16/8/2018 08:16 | GKN Wheels recently launched a new high-performance wheel for high-load capacity vehicles, with the new wheel capable of taking tyres with 13 bar pressure. The wheel was developed by GKN Wheels’ engineering team specifically to meet the requirements of one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of aircraft tow tractors, Goldhofer AG. In particular it has been designed for the company’s latest tractors which are capable of moving the new larger generations of aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380. | ![]() brexitplus |
