These 2 coats the dogs have are nothing to rave about. My wife has many coats and I myself have 3.
If MRO ever recover from the GKN deal, I’ll buy another, probably one like Farage, with a velvet collar.

Losos, suggest you bring your dogs up to Edinburgh for a couple of weeks. It was chilly last night on the Royal Mile!

On train back to Edinburgh after the best Open I can remember. 6 players tied for the lead with 5 holes to play. Huge crowds on every hole. Tiger prowling again. Home interest in Rose and Fleetwood. Met some fantastic people including from Korea, USA, Slovakia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. What is unusual is that everyone at the Open seems to be polite and happy - very different to a football crowd for example. Now off to a whisky bar known for its steak pies served with whisky sauce.

B+ - "How are your lovely dogs coping with this heat?"

Hi, they don't like it, Newfoundlands have two coats, an inner one and an outer one, the inner one is heavily 'oiled' so that makes them very good swimmers but not good in this weather, we have all the fans going and keep them in the coolest rooms, and 'walkies' are definately for late evening not during the day.

Those steaks sound fantastic, if you have any left over you can send them to me haha.

GRS You have been privaliged to watch such masters close up. TBH walking 20 miles in a day is beyond me now, and although I do watch on the box I'm a novice at the game haha.

Well weekend nearly over, hope you, and all the other posters that I can read have enjoyed, am getting a bit fed up with the hot weather now haha.

Sounds like you’ve had a wonderful day’s golf. I’m glad Molinari won. He’s a good player. Didn’t want another Yank to win, particularly Spieth or Woods.

Fillet steak tonight. Our local butcher provides beautiful local 35 day aged steak, cut to weight, for a restaurant nearby. I buy the fillet ends at less than half price. One minute, or less, each side. Sauté potatoes, French beans and Bearnaise (yes I know m, no accent) sauce with a good red to accompany. In the garden under a tree of course. 28C, just like France.

Later stages of the golf look really exciting.

Working on where to go next for a good break. No point going abroad, Snowdonia or anywhere near Lancashire. Dorset perhaps.

Paint is drying great. One blob was difficult to control as it had to cover 4 inches of flat plasterboard. But the weather here is nice and cool so I put the GPS on and I reckon I have walked 0 miles since the paint drying began.

Greens seem to be holding. I saw back spin from many shots including one from the rough. I’d like Fleetwood to win.

It's benign in the sense that the rough isn't a massive penalty. But when the ball is travelling 400yds down rock hard fairways it's almost impossible to control it so there are balls going out of bounds and into deep bunkers etc. But 23 degrees and sunny here so all set for a fantastic day.

Sounds great. It’s amazing how far you can walk watching a couple of matches. Course looks pretty benign on tv.

Great day at Carnoustie. B+, following Pat Perez and Bernhard Langer first thing, then McIlroy and Kuchar before the leaders come through, then it's a case of how far you can get before you get crowded out! Last year our GPS reckoned we covered over 20 miles during the day so a lot of walking!

Hi Getting

How is Carnoustie? Do you select a couple of matches to follow, sit in a stand, or a combination of the two? I prefer to follow matches.

Watched some strippers (back in the day) dance to this. Very good night!

Better than watching golf, for sure!

Push it real good! :)

Still boring.

Golf is the sport of choice for social ladder climbing suck ups. It suits you. :)

Thanks B+, looks like Beetle Juice (and I dare say his friend Ryelodge) aren't big fans but they are missing out. It's my favourite sporting event in the world and I've been to Wimbledon Men's Finals, two El Classico games (Barca v Real), the Ashes, Euro 96 when England by Holland 4-1 etc etc. None of them match the final day of the Open in my opinion, but each to their own! Maybe an afternoon in Bill's in some crumby part of Manchester is enough for some people?

Getting. Enjoy the golf. I’ve only been to Sandwich. Arbroath Smokies are wonderful. Had then in Arbroath back in the 1960s on a football tour.
