Really? Has Minnie really gone? Just need Meanwhile/Ryelodge to sling his hook now and this board will be a happy place.

Hurray. Success. Can’t take the heat. Prefers Googled quotes and song lyics.

Ryelodge, I've got no problem at all with you making a good profit on the Nortek thing. Good for you. But I'll still correct you when you make incorrect statements about the rights issue and neglect to factor in the tradeable value of unexercised rights.

Yertiz, I was in Afren too. I got lucky because I sold them along with a dodgy gold miner I had to buy a property. About a year later all the corruption stuff blew up. But don't get me wrong I've had quite a few wipe outs including Wasabi Energy, ENRC, Energis and Digital Barriers, all now worthless. But one has to take it on the chin when it all goes wrong.

Minny has speculated/invested/gambled on Burford too? My my, we ARE in exhalted company.

Apart from Hill and Smith, Versailles, Tullow, Afren and Photo-me, when have you ever known me to be wrong, GRS? Btw: Afren was a disaster, Hill and Smith are recoverable, Tullow dropped soon after I sold out as a 5 x bagger, Versailles left a very nasty taste as the CEO was imprisoned for fraud and the company collapsed, and Photo-me, like Tullow I managed to escape more than intact!

Plus 500 report half year results on Monday 13th - tomorrow could be a big indicator of how well they are doing/have done. Fantastic dividend & PEG, FTSE 250 listing to come, just taken No.1 spot from IG for providing CFDs, just nothing not to like.

Brexit says, of meanwhile - "He hasn’t made one worthwhile comment for months."

He could have added that this was in stark contrast to his own astute and penetrating posts in recent months, across a wide range of topics.

Hi Getting

Even minny is invested in Burford!!! All the analysis I have done and the history of Burford is positive. Videos and interviews of Chris Bogart show he knows exactly what he and Burford are doing. What I particularly like is that litigation will happen whatever the economic climate, perhaps more so in a recession.

Enjoy Majorca. We are off to Near Carcassonne in a weeks time.

Evening all, in Majorca now - fairly hot (about 34C). So we had a long flight delay this morning and with not a lot to do while waiting at the gate, I got thinking about Burford and why I was not yet invested. Minerve will love the next bit in terms of how terribly speculative and risky it is. I gave my friend a call - he is a partner at Mishcon de Reya - and asked him what he knows about Burford. His response surprised me in terms of how glowing he was about them, so about twenty minutes later, I was in!! Had to do two trades because I bust the upper limit on a single trade with IG. So Yertiz and B+, I really hope you're both right on this one!

LOL.

Churchill was one of my heros and would be top of the invite list for the dinner party (dead or alive). Other guests would include Nancy Astor - 'If I were married to you, I'd put poison in your coffee' Churchill - 'If I were married to you I'd drink it'

Tried to put an order in for Syncona this morning, but jumping through financial regulation hoops wasn't on the agenda so that's going to have to wait.
Bought some Burford this week too and more Plus 500. You have to speculate to accumulate....

Churchill was a very imaginative writer. His wit is legendary. Pages in quotations books.

I’m not sure MW/Rye has ONE new quotation in his head, or ever will do. No imagination whatsoever, and as a troll only 1/10, and that for effort. He hasn’t made one worthwhile comment for months.

I think the ‘one’ may be another Googled quotation. At least they are shorter than his Googled song lyrics. Such lack of imagination.

Good day for Syncona. I increased my holding by 50% this morning on the trading update. A bit more weakness and will up Burford Capital.

Perhaps we should ban current politics only. The old politicians were good for a laugh!!!!

Breaching the political threshold, B+. Naughty boy!

What's Meanwhile/Rye on about with 'another one of those coming' ? We know how number poor he is, was 'one' the number he meant?

Hi Getting

As I said before, so predictable.

On a serious note, British industry is full of minerves. Self-centred, pompous, arrogant individuals who focus only on their own wealth and running listed companies to enhance their own. Many “Champagne socialists.” In fact pulling down British Companies to the detriment of their employees. There are lots of individuals currently in the news. Our own one maintained that GKN was well run under the former board. No need to change. And yet these self-same companies are now changing and the using the Melrose model to improve their businesses. And many more need to do so.

Personally I have never been impressed by wealth. I’m much more impressed by the characters of the people behind it. I once worked for a Times Wealthiest 100 business owner. A more modest man you will never meet. Never boasted, friendly to everyone, and didn’t show his wealth.

As the Winchester College motto says, “Manners maketh man.” If true, and I believe it is, minerve is a very poor excuse for a man.

Hi Minny, have you got any more quotations from the 1800s that make you feel better about your poor investment returns? Can you recommend any negative yielding bonds for us so that we can maximise our losses?
