What cliff edge? There is a wide gentle shoreline and an open ocean, and beyond it a whole world to trade with. Newmania confuses metaphor with reality. “Words are the daughters of men, but things are the sons of heaven.” (Samuel Johnson)

It’s obvious; May agreed already to lay before parliament any legal advice in full, but is now trying to get away with hiding the components that would expose her as a liar and a fraud.

Naturally you’d expect MP’s to be more than slightly miffed at this. I hope they bring her down.

I believe May’s intent was to conceal the legal text long enough while ramming the deal through parliament…230;..and then do a runner before the legal text gets out.

She appears to have been caught red handed.

Martin Howe QC has demonstrated very clearly the legal traps in the WA. I find it inconceivable that the government will not publish the AG’s full advice in this exceptional instance. The Daily Telegraph reports that Mr Robbins reported the risks in a letter to the PM.

May must go. Now. She is unfit for office. The Conservative party needs to choose a replacement who actually believes in Brexit to replace her – and that excludes the Goves of this world – if it wants to survive as a respected political force.

Javid's making his play already by trying to make capital over the Syrian boy punched to the ground - me, too, and all that. What a creep.

I can see a new middle party emerging with David Miliband as the figurehead with the likes of Blair & Mandelson pulling the strings.

There will also be mass defections from existing Labour and undoubtedly a few high profile names from the Tories.

They will sell the "staying in the EU is the only way" line and with voters up and down the country on both sides totally perplexed and unsure of the way forward, this new centre party will sweep all before it.

Worrying ? possible ??

Undoubtedly................

Grahamite2: "Boris and Rees Mogg are the only men fit to run the country"
Agree 100%, they are in a different league to everyone else, both have vision and genuine concern for the future of the country. Gove completely untrustworthy and anyone still left in May's cabinet has, by association, poor judgement imho and is therefore unsuitable to lead. Only rider perhaps would be if May is found to have been economical with the truth on the legal advice on backstop to her cabinet, then further resignations possible.

Graham - "Boris and Rees Mogg are the only men fit to run the country."

Good point to follow-up on, just who could be our next Tory leader - I say "Tory", as the Opposition are pretty rubbish atm.

All IMO, of course: Boris might have left it too late to show that he can think before speaking; JR-M I really like, but he wouldn't appeal to those who allow appearances and apparent social standing to affect their voting intentions; I rather like Penny Mordaunt; Davis could fill her boots temporarily, but Raab is the front runner for me.

That was a bit rushed, but must go and check on what nurse is up to - she's been cleaning my drinks cabinet for a sight too long. Will update anyone who's interested.

Just how many would you trust?!!!

I would have had Gove on my negotiating team from the outset for those very reasons.

Graham - "Gove has shot his bolt in my view. OK, no-one expects a politician to be a boy scout, but Gove has shown himself to be utterly, totally, completely dishonest. He's gone too far."

And Javid is right up there with Gove; so he, too, should not be trusted.

Is that why the moaning minnies have stepped up their campaign on this thread Max?

On a serious note - what is the likelihood of the HofC vote next week being deferred?

Just when we are all expecting some clarity one way or the other in the next few days there is a chance that the vote will be pushed off with a resultant impact on the markets.

Any views?
