12/7/2019 20:50 | How do you get dramatic rate cuts on a 0.75% base? Meaningless to ordinary businesses and retail customers. Even mortgage borrowers wont see anything. Do inflation figures mean nothing anymore? | maxk
12/7/2019 20:43 | Others argue that rates may have to be used to defend GBP in that scenario. Not long to wait. | alphorn

12/7/2019 16:07 | agricola Posted July 12, 2019 at 5:29 am | Permalink All the work of clever economists. Why do people go to universty for three years and learn nothing of use in this discipline. To see a return on your money buy assets in short or limited supply such as property, selected vintage vehicles and aircraft. Do not under any circumstances give it to banks and building societies who will give you zilch in return. Reply Lifelogic Posted July 12, 2019 at 5:30 am | Permalink Indeed bank over regulation, lending restrictions, high margins and fees and restrictive terms are restricting lending in the UK. Killing perfectly sensible investments and developments and damaging the economy. Is Halfwit Hammond (and pusher of project fear so running down the economy) going to do anything about his daft pension rules that are doing so much harm particularly in the NHS. With endless cancellations and delays for patients. Or his insane stamp duty rates, insane landlord interest rules, absurdly high and complex tax system, daft bank lending restrictions …. Or is he just going to leave the mess for the next person in a couple of weeks time? He is surpassing even John Major for gross incompetence as Chancellor. | xxxxxy
12/7/2019 15:51 | cheshire - well done. My trade horizon is around 3-6mths and not a frequent trader. There are other things to do and just back from a blast and lunch on the lake. 12/7/2019 12:21 | Momentum announces drive to help Labour members deselect MPs Exclusive: Group says process will clear way for MPs who are more diverse and working-class Jessica Elgot Chief political correspondent Fri 12 Jul 2019 10.00 BST Momentum is to launch a nationwide campaign to encourage members to begin deselection processes for Labour MPs, arguing it can open the door for more diverse, younger, working-class MPs. The grassroots group said it would support rank-and-file members across the country to begin the process of challenging their sitting MP under Labour’s trigger ballot system. The system, which was changed last September to make it easier for local party members to challenge MPs, allows members to vote on whether they would like their sitting MP to face a full selection process or be automatically reselected. If more than a third of local party branches or more than a third of affiliate branches are in favour of open selection, a reselection process will take place where other candidates can challenge the MPs for the seat. 12/7/2019 11:19 | Cheshire There is no challenge because you can’t have 100% winners. Someone has to lose. If 77% lose then that is pensions and savings that are being lost. That increases the chances of more being dependent on the state. So, as I said, we shouldn’t be encouraging people to do these things. Most people have a deluded sense of ability and how much time you need to be successful. Don’t attempt to try and come across as a wise head on these things, you are embarrassing yourself. Best keep your mouth shut and stick to what you do know, which is what exactly? | minerve 2 |
