Minerve..I am positive that you do not invest money in shares. Let us quickly go through what a Corbyn Government would mean.

1. From the first indication of Labour winning, the £ would go into freefall as money left the country.

2. Corbyn's govt would need to borrow billions in order to finance their promises and in order to nationalise the Utilities and Railways. The middle classes would be Corbyn's cash cow.

3. Welfare rises would mean that everyone who is considered rich by Corbyn would see a tax rise. Rich to a Corbyn govt is anyone making over £30k pa.

4. Property would be another cash cow for Corbyn. Garden tax would be brought in, CGT would be increased, stamp duty on property above £200K would increase, stamp duty rise on a share transactions increase to 1%.

5. Controlled rents would be introduced decimating the BTL market and causing a Property crash.

Minerve, is that what you wish for, because this thread will cease to exist if Corbyn becomes PM and this thread is your sad little life you Marxist moron.

Maybe Max. He was a First Secretary in Iraq from 1996 to 1997 whilst serving as a United Nations weapons inspector, so obviously sees things that don't exist. ;)

"EU budget Commissioner admitted there is no legal mechanism to force delivery of the outrageous sum on the British government. Gunther Oettinger did warn however that Britain would be barred from future science and innovation projects tendered out by the EU. Oh dear, we can’t afford to miss out on those"

Nope we don;t legally owe anything having been a net contributor for every 7yer but one of our 43 years membership.

Additionally, of that £39bn a large slice of it will encompass 2019 membership fees which will be paid before we leave.

And what of our share of assets?

43 years of net membership surely derives some assets?????

As to barring us from such tenders, fine we reciprocate with trump tariffs on German cars and French wines/cheese in first instance. Then we move down the chain. Spanish wine, etc etc until you're reasonable.

"Mark Sedwill, head of the U.K. civil service, said no-deal Brexit preparations represent “one of the most impressive pieces of cross-government work” he’s experienced. “Those preparations continue and we will be in the best possible shape we can be for whatever happens,” ;Sedwill told a conference in London"

Awkward for Remainers.

"Senior member of Parliament Chuka Umunna announced on Thursday night he has joined the pro-EU Liberal Democrats, who are campaigning for a second referendum.  Umunna was a Labour MP until February, when he left in protest at the official opposition’s unwillingness to oppose Brexit"

It's time to make sure that every MP that crosses to the opposition automatically calls a by election, just as Carswell & Reckless did,

Beyond farce that Chuka has now changed party twice and his constituency electorate haven't had any say whatsoever.

Not calling a by election shows how dishonourable these people are.

@Graham,

"I didn't begin to anticipate that Minerve would come right out with it and support such incitement"

I'm perfectly fine for Jo bland to incite. But I'm also perfectly fine if someone subsequently throws battery acid at Jo Bland.

Call it Karma.

I like to be consistent.

The posts are nearly all about Boris this, Boris that.

The clock is ticking, summer shutdown on the horizon and very little, if anything, on the international scene as an upside. Maintain those yielders or reduce risk and move more into cash?

Seriously Minerve ?

I suggest you look at some of his tweets from 2017.

"I can never forgive the Lib Dems for what they've done to my area" etc.

Nothing other than yet another disgusting self serving careerist..........

A precedent for automatic bye-elections exists. It used to be the case that any MP taking an office of profit under the crown (i.e. being appointed a minister) had to stand for re-election.

Perhaps a similar rule should come in for MPs losing or resigning their Party whip?

I say perhaps, because actually I think Minerve makes a reasonable point - you do technically vote for an individual, not a Party.

I know that is how people vote. But obviously we see democracy is very broken ATM. I think it shows the integrity and passion of a person that he does such things. It is better that than having a bunch of suck-ups like we get in the Tories that are bought on bribes.

If his constituents don't like it they know what to do don't they.

Geez, we are all having to put up with an unelected PM, that is more important.

It's the principle, he stood as a Labour candidate in 2017 under Corbyn, so if he didn't like Corbyn and the party then he should have stepped down there and then as opposed to standing to represent that party. He knew what he was doing.

Even now, why doesn't he do the honourable thing and step down and then stand (if selected) as a Lib Dem candidate in a fairly contested by-election ??

Is he perhaps worried that the 68.5% who voted Labour maybe did so because of the party rather than because of Chuka himself ??

Who knows, maybe he'll get a better offer from the Conservatives next month.........

It does seem odd that when an mp switches parties, there's not an automatic election again.

If you vote labour, then you want your mp to vote as the labour whips tells him to vote which will be for labour policies.

If he chukkas in the towel with labour and goes to an independent party, then he'll vote for probably the exact opposite of the policies he was elected to vote for. Strange.

Why you worried about Chukka. See him as a threat? :)

He strengthens the Liberals.

Tories are dead.

Liberal - Labour government on its way, Brexit or no Brexit.

Maybe Corbyn will get to nationalise a few assets.

Thanks Brexiters. Wasn't quite what you envisaged was it! Duh!

Despite what you may think Minerve, the majority of people in this country vote for a political party NOT a candidate, as such this is a complete kick in the teeth to Democracy.

Ironically this clown is making out that he's the one to fix the broken system yet he's the one who's actually committing the biggest electoral fraud ever seen in this country !!!

Honestly..........

In a general election most people vote for who they wish to be PM they don't vote for their local representative. Chukka voters should now have the right to vote again. They did not vote for a Liberal. At least most of the others have been honest and gone Independent.
