Look in the mirror Min, your an old git at 51, and why didn't 'your generation' overcome the dregs with your superior intelligence.

I doubt you'll survive to be a true old git.

The argument has already been won. Sorry you don't like that. We don't care what you old farts think - you'll be mostly dead in a decade.

Flat Earthers like you will argue that we are wrong and still go on your 'around the world cruises'.

LOL

Exclusive: Conservative donors open secret talks with Nigel Farage on general election pact to save Brexit

Christopher Hope, chief political correspondent
16 JUNE 2019 • 9:30PM

Conservative Party donors have opened secret talks with Nigel Farage about an electoral pact which would see the party not stand candidates against the Brexit Party in dozens of seats at a snap general election.

Speculation is growing that the next Tory leader will have to call a snap election to bring in new MPs who will agree to take the UK out of the European Union by the end of October.

A new poll in the Sunday Times put Mr Farage's Brexit Party in first place on 24 per cent, three points ahead of the Tories and Labour on 21 per cent

Re above... although time scales for doing this are unrealistic, setting unachievable targets will help noone. World wide its atleaset a 50 year plan.

Xxxxxy. There is a little bit of pass the buck in Jr's observations above. The UK in particular could set a standard example of what could be achieved, indeed we are. We are a rich nation and should lead by example. If a country takes the approach that their 1 percintish co2 contribution is irrelevant then an individual certainly will. We can throw stones at India, but of course, their emissions are less than ours per capita. The end goal must be to set a per capita target per country and that target must decrease over time. The problem is , is that the developed and developing countries are cashing in on the low footprints of underdeveloped countries. We've effectively partied in co2, then as the late comers have come to the party we are saying you cant use this cheap fuel source. World population size is the driving factor and if everyone is to havethe same low foot print European cou tries will have to do much better, and large population emerging countries, like India will have to stop increasing their emissions whilst redistributing them within their own population. The UKs total impact is only 1pc so relatively low, it does not mean that we should not strive to be well ahead of the curve and get to a per capita number that the planet can support... someone has too.

Carbon dioxide levels keep rising

By JOHNREDWOOD | Published: JUNE 17, 2019

The more the UK cuts emissions of O2 the more the rest of the world increases them. Someone sent me the 2018 latest figures from the BP Energy Review. Since 2010 world CO2 emissions are up 9% whilst the UK has been cutting. Last year there was a 2% global rise, with only the UK and Europe down. The increases were led by China, India and the rest of the world excluding the USA and Europe.

China still uses coal for more than half her energy demands, whilst the UK has eliminated coal in its generation mix. Last year an additional 280 million barrels of oil equivalent of gas, oil and coal was consumed, compared to just 100 m barrel equivalent increase in non carbon renewables and nuclear. Renewables now account for just 4% of world energy, with hydro and nuclear 11%, whilst coal represents 27% and oil and gas 54%.

Those who see rising carbon dioxide as a major threat need to answer the simple question what are they going to do about the huge increases in fossil fuel use outside the UK and Europe. The figures show even if the UK succeeded in eliminating net carbon usage world use and output of CO2 would continue upwards with no visible impact of the UK on the world graph. It will take major changes of behaviour and investment in China,India and the other large carbon users to shift the numbers in the way climate campaigners want.
