17/6/2019 19:15 | 'Chairman Boris' expected to sack third of Theresa May's top team so he can build Cabinet of allies Christopher Hope, chief political correspondent 17 JUNE 2019 • 6:00PM As many as one third of Theresa May's top team could be replaced by a new cadre of rising star politicians being lined up to sit in a Boris Johnson Cabinet. MPs are openly speculating about who might be promoted to Mr Johnson's front bench if - as bookmakers expect - he is crowned Prime Minister next month. Mr Johnson is expected by MPs to take more of a hands-off "chairmanship" role as Prime Minister, handing down authority over policy areas to trusted lieutenants. | maxk | |

17/6/2019 13:30 | The only solution to the Brexit mess is for Boris Johnson to deliver a soft Brexit. A few minor tweaks to May's deal and something on the backstop. The ERG will have to back it, as will the UDP, no where else to go this time. Farage will be a non event by the nest election, as people will wish to move on. Remainers will accept the compromise of a soft Brexit. Boris knows all of this, after winning the leadership election he can drift back to his original pro eu. position. | careful |
