30/6/2021 16:41 | There will presumably also be consumable and service revenues. No idea how much that might be worth, but potentially significant. It would be good if they could find a way of monetising the data stream too... | supernumerary
30/6/2021 16:12 | Well we'll just have to be patient I guess a little longer hopefully & it'll be worth the wait. Short while ago, on checking prices, one can buy at 16.07p below the mid. | davethechef
30/6/2021 14:44 | So part of the £13m recently raised went towards commercialisation of the biological pathogen detector. This in part was to a new production facility. I would think they can get more manufactured under license if needed. However according to the before mentioned analyst they would need to make 5000 a year to generate £25m of profit. (£20,000 sale price, 25% profit. £5,000 x 5000machines =£25m) That’s 96machines a week - which I would say isn’t too ambitious. | aqc888
30/6/2021 14:43 | Dave, I think there are 2 prototypes by the sound of it that are being live trailed, we've heard about 2 Airports and a school now with NHS also to come The units will have been fully bench/lab tested and put through thier paces before hand and they've said results will be released soon. They're done really well to get those 2 units functioning so quickly it was only in Jan UK Innovation' funding was granted I believe. So lots of news to look forward to . | 33mick
30/6/2021 14:16 | Just not enough info for me, coming out. I agree the covid detector is impressive, but surely they'd need to make hundreds to make very significant revenues. And what profit are they expecting and how many can they actually make in what time frame to keep those customers happy to wait? How many have they made to date & who are actually interested to buy now. Of course they have other revenue 'avenues' but Arnab Basu has been very vocal of the covid detector, picked up by various press interest, some weeks ago, and now we are overdue those results & an update! | davethechef
30/6/2021 13:24 | Pretty rough estimation, lots of unknowns. But gives a picture of what a dramatic effect this biological pathogen detector could have on Kromeks share price | aqc888
30/6/2021 13:20 | I’m quoting IC; Covid-19 airborne threat detection profit opportunity - 14th Jan 2021 “ Analyst Paul Hill at Equity Development values the annual global market for the biological threat detection devices at £500m and believes that Kromek could win a 20 per cent share on a 25 per cent profit margin, implying operating profit of £25m.” So Kromeks 20% share of global market of £500m would be £100m @ £20,000 per device = 5,000 global sales annually required to generate £25m. Current market cap of Kromek is £69m | aqc888
30/6/2021 13:01 | aqc not clear whether the whole post is a quotation of paul Hill | ali47fish
30/6/2021 12:32 | The R rate of coronavirus is around 1-2. That means in the 10days you’re infected the expected number of cases directly generated by your case will be 1-2. If the machine can pick up a coronavirus case in schools, offices, airlines etc in 30mins there’s a pretty good chance it will prevent the infection spreading to anybody else, given the average case takes 10days to spread to 1-2 other people. I can imagine since the virus has effected the entire world so profoundly that there will be enough scenario settings for the machine to generate pretty good sales. A test conducted at a boarding gate to test passengers I agree is not very practical. However the alternative of allowing a new strain such as the delta variant into your country or multiple pcr tests on every passenger is even less practical. I’m pretty confident that this unique machine with no current competitors and with such a competitive advantage will be able to find the 5000 sales globally which will generate an annual profit of 50% of the current market cap of Kromek. (Analyst Paul Hill at Equity Development) | aqc888
30/6/2021 10:12 | This contract will allow us to continue our work in developing a mobile wide-area bio-surveillance system capable of detecting airborne pathogens in real-time. We look forward to reporting on our progress as we deliver on our milestones. "What is real time ?30 seconds for a dog or30 minutes for the machine ? It will be very useful to detect multiple pathogens you might not be expecting but as far as monitoring and airport or store for covid positive patients that can infect others it will take too long . One could isolate a plane full of passengers and test them all at once to see if anyone is positive but again not practical at a busy airport | haroldthegreat
30/6/2021 10:06 | Well said, DaveTheChef. We’re still waiting Arnab. | b00mb0y
30/6/2021 09:11 | Where are the positive trial results, as promised in " coming days" Arnab! Interest & trades have dwindled as a result of above. If he knew they were positive what's he waiting on!?! | davethechef
29/6/2021 17:05 | SP up. Wouldn’t believe it. Would you? | b00mb0y
29/6/2021 15:14 | All sounds well. Great machine. Everyone exited. World class. Game changer. share price drop. You wouldn’t believe it. | b00mb0y
29/6/2021 12:55 | Interesting perspective, helps me understand why the market might be massively miss pricing Kromek. While the U.K. and US are adopting a fairly laidback approach to covid and are mainly interested at its prevalence at boarders and hospitals. (A market alone which would support good sales) I would remind you that in Hong Kong alongside a lot of other Far East countries that someone testing positive would be taken to hospital under observation while the rest of the family locked up in a quarantine centre for 3 weeks! In this rather significant market where they still are keeping covid rates to ZERO this machine would be of great interest. Second point is that Kromek have a huge competitive advantage over there rivals. (Warren Buffet always looks for this little detail). They have 3years R&D under their belts - as they had already started developing the machine before covid. Also Kromek have mopped up Tens of Millions in US and UK government grants to develop the machine. (Money that won’t be available to rivals trying to develop the same bit of technology). Thirdly the next generation machine (again currently funded by DARPA) is going to detect every pathogen EVEN ones which haven’t been detected before (rather useful for stopping the global economy grinding to a halt next time there’s a pandemic - over 17,000 international airports in the world). I’ll be keeping my Kromek shares. 5-1 to Kromek I’d say. | aqc888
29/6/2021 11:59 | If it detects in 30 minutes the people passing through will have left ! are they all going to be contacted by test and trace ?will the building be evacuated until level is zero ? At least the dog test is immediate . Very disappointed at the time taken for the result Will be useful if it detects many agents at the same time and a rare dangerous agent is detected where immediate action can be taken but this is not the answer for covid where instant detection is wanted . dog 1 kromek nill ! | haroldthegreat
29/6/2021 11:18 | Dr Arnab Basu mentioned the NHS at the end of the presentation so we should hopefully get some more news and media attention soon. "The Bio Detection is an exciting new market for us... Revenues are now building up after a year of disruption and we have a compelling offering with our Pathogen dection system for Bio security and Pandemic protection. We will be releasing test results which all look very promising in the coming days after trials in Airports, Schools and NHS sites." Cenkos Growth & Innovation' 8th June Worth another watch | 33mick
29/6/2021 08:38 | Very excited by the upcoming results. Hopefully we’ll see them by the end of next week, at the latest, given the CEO claims in an interview a few weeks ago that they were soon to be released. Knowing Kromek have the financial firepower through their £13 fundraising to commercialise this machine, and with their new manufacturing facilities, the effects on their balance sheet should filter through quite quickly. To own the intellectual property of a world first machine of such importance will be transformational to the share price. I hope! | aqc888
28/6/2021 11:35 | I can’t believe they haven’t already trialled these machines extensively at their facilities already... I should imagine this is the last stage of trials conducted in a real world setting. When the results are released I should think as the media are already aware of the story it should get traction very quickly - with a lot of overdue attention focused on the company. It’s also extremely likely Simon Thompson will re-tip his old favourite. Last time he tipped Kromek on the 14/1 at 13.45. Next day it went to 16.9p following week 23.5p. That increase was based on speculation regarding the machine. When the results are out we should hopefully see a stronger response to his inevitable re-tip... | aqc888
28/6/2021 09:48 | Made a news article in the Airport Technology site. 4th article down I think. Teesside Airport trials Kromek’s Covid-19 detection system 25 Jun 2021 (Last Updated June 25th, 2021 09:11) Developed by Kromek, the system can detect levels of Covid-19 within 30 minutes. | 33mick
28/6/2021 09:20 | Bit more coverage in the press. Warming them up hopefully for the imminent positive results! | aqc888
25/6/2021 16:05 | what is new then? | ali47fish
25/6/2021 13:32 | Today. - US most recent Kromek news....not about trails as such but news the same... DARPA Awards Phase 11 Biological Threat Detection System Contract to Kromek June 25, 2021 Homeland Security Today Kromek has been awarded a new c. $6m contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), for Phase II of its development of a biological threat detection system that senses, analyses and identifies airborne pathogens. Kromek will deliver the contract over the next 28-month period, commencing immediately. | 33mick
25/6/2021 12:41 | Thought I’d repost this article from the New York Times on Kromeks rival covid detector. No wonder DARPA gave £6m to Kromek when the closest rival machine seems to be a dehumidifier machine which collects water droplets that are manually collect and posted to a pcr lab, with next day results. Compare that to Kromeks completely autonomous machine which gives results every 30mins without the need for new filters every cycle, manual collection, postage and a 1 day wait, or indeed paying for the pcr test once or twice a day (circa £50-120). Yet this vastly inferior machines makers say they are “ inundated with calls and emails from companies and organizations” Kromek should have very little problem selling these machines. | aqc888 |
