24/6/2021 11:16 | Reports on the trialling will indeed be welcomed, but certainly lots of attention on the detector's significance now. Not just airports (SKY News at Teesside International): but also schools (Look North) : | ![]() edmonda
24/6/2021 08:29 | Reversal today as expected; gone from couldn't sell many yesterday unless NT to can't buy unless NT. As I suggested last couple of days MM were ' dragging out the sellers' & last attempt on another fall this morning, scaremongering! Holding firm, but would like news on trialling the Detector in further significant locations & positive news on uptake & sales, in due course | ![]() davethechef
24/6/2021 07:12 | Near real time means every 30mins. The current machine only detects Covid pathogens. The next generation (which DARPA are funding with 6m) will identity all pathogens in the air. Airports and airlines are quick adopters of new technologies when it comes to safety. This device would be a lot less onerous for airports and airlines to manage than the current system. If the government were to accept results from one of these machines for incoming flights, rather than everyone needing a pcr test it would be great for the airlines, passengers and an innovative UK company would benefit. A lot of IFS but it’s a fairly reasonable scenario... this is just one industry the machine can be used in. | ![]() aqc888
24/6/2021 00:49 | This is getting interesting now, for sure, quite exciting in fact! Seeing the machine "out and about" felt good, thanks for posting those links. But the questions are still very complex... as posted, what happens when COVID or another pathogen is detected...? What does "near real time" mean? Companies have 1001+ policies, mine certainly does and getting policies written, changed and ratified takes time, even for some very basic change. Installing one of these would need a serious policy with so many stakeholders, as ultimately you're going to shut down an airport or a city. And all airports across a country would have to follow the same policy. It's a policy of epic proportions. It's exciting, but I still think patience might be needed. | ![]() dougmachin

23/6/2021 21:47 | That’s forgetting the cruise ship industry, education, hospitals, care homes, etc etc etc. People aren’t going to be swabbing themselves everywhere. The big question will be if Kromek can capitalise on the new market quickly enough - will they have the capacity to meet demand or will they earn the majority of money from licensing | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 21:42 | Remember how quickly the airline industry adapted to liquids being bought on board after the liquid bomb plot... they will be just as quick here. It is the ONLY feasible option to avoid their industry being shut down when the next dodgy virus raises its head | ![]() aqc888

23/6/2021 21:33 | I would think after the entire airline and airport industry has been bought to its knees by the pandemic they will be prepared to pay out £20k per machine for a solution to keep their industry from being shut down next time there’s a possible pandemic. Because next time there’s a slight possibility of a pandemic everything will be shut down without delay or hesitation. If you remember a while back Heathrow was closed because they didn’t have adequate snow ploughs to keep open when we had an exceptional snow fall - there’s a corner of Heathrow you drive past towards the gates with a fleet of sparkling new snow ploughs that have never been used... There are 17,618 international airports in the world with many terminals and gates.... | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 21:20 | Good question. SDI had a product with a similar flaw. They had a method of detecting protean on surgical equipment that had been through the autoclave. Obviously every hospital would want one, innit? But no, 'cos what does the hospital do? Give up trying to sterilise equipment? Give up operations? Fortunately SDI have had many more successful products. | ![]() gnnmartin
23/6/2021 21:01 | So, what happens if Covid is detected? Test everyone in the vicinity? Shout 'Don't Panic' and jump up and down? Get out quick? | ![]() grim
23/6/2021 21:00 | Definitely heading for 30p here - results will come through, all fairly positive. Share price will rise to 20p ish. Simon Thompson won’t be able to resist writing an article congratulating himself on his “strong buy” recommendation on an old favourite. All the IC morons (such as myself) will jump on board excited by a thematic investment opportunity endorsed by the beloved messiah Simon Thompson. Price will rise to 30pence in the excitement of a comprehensive solution to the pandemic. Then slowly everyone will remember that the pandemic is almost over and Kromek are a company that never make a profit and their CEO is a comedian - and the price will fall back to 20p. At which point Arnab will have some new rabbit to pull out of his magic hat and a new rainbow will appear... and I’ll be long gone watching from the sidelines... | ![]() aqc888

23/6/2021 19:46 | There I was worried the CEO had the results of the trials and was hiding them from us to try to tweak the data and put a positive spin on it. But the comedian just hadn’t started the trials so didn’t have the data from the trials to give. | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 19:36 | I'll post the link for you AQC...tt's replaced with TTs...gotta do your homework look..!! Teesside Airport installs Kromek machine to detect Covid in the air. A NORTH EAST airport has installed a "groundbreaking" machine which can reportedly detect Covid particles in the air ahead of a potential rollout to venues and hospitals. Teesside Airport is trialling the brand new system developed by Sedgefield-firm, Kromek, which can reportedly determine the presence of the virus down to "very low levels." It comes as the County Durham company first unveiled plans for a system to detect particles of the virus at the turn of the year. The move has since been described as "innovative," while the Chief Executive of Kromek has said the equipment could help the country return to normal life. As part of a three day trial, the system has been installed in the airport's terminal building where it is believed will detect traces of all Covid in the air within 30 minutes. The system, which is classed as a 'biological threat detection system,' draws in large volumes of air and is then analysed automatically. The device we are trialling is the only technology of its kind which can autonomously detect the presence of COVID-19 from huge areas. "The technology has the capacity to deliver near real time monitoring of the presence and prevalence of the virus, enabling a return to normal life.” | ![]() 33mick
23/6/2021 19:14 | Reassuring that information is not being released because they haven’t finished their homework rather than because the results are rubbish. I think this could be the ideal buying opportunity... | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 19:10 | Looks like the Mayor Ben Houchen of Tees Valley has let slip Arnabs little porkie. “ As part of a three day trial, the system has been installed in the airport's terminal building”. AND “We’re delighted Teesside is not just one of the first airports, but one of the first buildings, to be trialling this new detector, which could be a real game-changer.” So it would seem that there is no data being revealed by the CEO as the machines have only been installed 3days ago in the first building! | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 18:42 | Interesting how the North East media are all on the story now. Hopefully it will be the same with the national media soon. hxxps://www.thenorth | ![]() aqc888
23/6/2021 17:45 | I found this interesting to read the other day, every office in London probably has the same staff hesitancy to get back to the office where the boss would prefer them, at the cost per unit Kromek is pitching at sale or lease hire? They would be a big staff confidence booster to get back to normal working. 'Goldman Sachs' group chief executive, David Solomon, has described working from home as "an aberration", while James Gorman, the boss of rival US investment bank Morgan Stanley said: "If you can go into a restaurant in New York City, you can come into the office." However, NatWest said just over a third of its 59,300 UK full-time employees would continue to work remotely. Some 55% of its staff would adopt a hybrid model of working between the office and home.' | ![]() 33mick
23/6/2021 17:34 | AQC888, my sentiments exactly. You have a far better way of putting it than I. I’m too angry and it can mes out that way. I know I’m sounding like a miserable pr1ck but I’ll be singing from the he rooftops IF this starts scoring. | ![]() b00mb0y
23/6/2021 17:00 | Hopefully they want to build up some media attention before the trial results are released - so the significance of the machine is not missed and fades away. A mention of the machine by a front bench government minister would get this at the top of the media agenda where it belongs. Since the UK government gave a grant of £1.25m you’d think they would be keen to take some of the credit and boast about their success in fighting the pandemic in ‘world beating’ ways. Surely it won’t be long before a minister cottons on to the fact he can take credit for the machine... | ![]() aqc888

23/6/2021 16:36 | Would think Kromek will soon have some positive detection results from the trial units to make the next Investors chronicle update interesting reading. There looks like at least 5 international flights a day coming into Newcastle airport with twice as many domestic ones, so although in theory there should be no one in an airport with Covids having been PCR or lateral flow tested that's a big footfall thro the airport, and many will be unknowingly positive I guess. They've done everything that they've said with this programme technically and timewise so I'm very impressed. Well done Kromek. | ![]() 33mick
