01/3/2024 16:44 | Ok update from Ming Chi Kuo the most reliable and respected analyst. Seems like a major set back for volume Micro LED in general. Apple Micro LED update: 1. My latest survey indicates that Apple has canceled the Micro LED Apple Watch projects because Apple thinks that Micro LED can’t add significant value to this product, and the production costs are too high to make it economically viable. 2. Apple has laid off many people from the Micro LED development team. There’s currently no visibility on any Micro LED-related projects. It’s undoubtedly a major setback for Apple, which hopes to own the next generation of display technology to make its products more competitive. 3. Osram was Apple’s exclusive LED chip supplier for Micro LED. The company’s cancellation of its Micro LED collaboration with Apple means that Apple has no plans to mass-produce Micro LED devices in the foreseeable future. As I said before, sounds like nothing prior 2027, so I hope Americo was not banking on this for the 3x | crosswires
01/3/2024 16:36 | Guild some good points but the CEO of AMS was shell shocked with the Apple News and so Americo would have no clue about it. We await the TU (if there is one), if there’s no TU then we know it’s not an issue for 24 earnings. | longtallsally
01/3/2024 15:59 | The key thing for me is the funds have backed IQE for the last few months. Those that wanted out cleared at 15-20p. Citigroup took on 10% and had no trouble selling 6% of them. Funds rarely buy and sell 1-2 months later. Most of the big shareholders here have not been selling. The only side step might be if it's Richard Griffith as he has a lot of loaned out shares. It will be months before we find out if AMS actually impacted IQE. If this was Apple dumping them for IQE production then that would be big news. You would hope IQE would announce a big deal if it had been done. Of course IQE are at start of the food chain. It would seem surprising for the CEO to be so positive for huge bad news to follow 1-2 months later. Especially if Lemos has influence. Of course Unless Apple beat IQE down on price. Lemos suggested 30% margins on new deals. See what happens. Judging from last few days it's been a lot of guesswork on here. | guildedge
01/3/2024 15:53 | I don't buy the yarn being spun that a single AMS customer can cancel an order where AMS have to write off 600m+ of capex / tools for zero consequence. You would have to seriously question the management. Saw that Aixtron had a sell off yesterday on their results, even though they say business is booming with a huge order book. Looks like their new GaN tools are far superior to previous models. | lpavlou
01/3/2024 15:34 | Thanks Guild, I found it useful 👍 I think this mornings share price fall was about this but yesterdays was about people joining some dots. Rightly or wrongly, time will tell. | longtallsally
01/3/2024 15:28 | guildedge - another fascinating insight, revealing - er - nothing. | lord loads of lolly
01/3/2024 15:17 | Was this all about Citigroup clearing or about the AMS news? I said they would likely drop the price so Citigroup could clear. Of course Citigroup still have over 40m or so shares. So i will wait for the RNS to be sure it is them. There have been a huge amount of auto trades in last few days like Canaccord used to do but I don't think they are the buyer here. If this was only about Citigroup clearing then the share price will rise back to 24p. There has been a persistant auto trader all day long. If the share was a 12-15p share volumes would not happen at 20p or so. Market still has confidence in IQE here. That or the funds backing it are over confident. | guildedge
01/3/2024 14:57 | In that case surely IQE should be about to issue a whole barrel load of RNS if they are serious about this 3x revenue malarky? Don’t call me Shirley ;) and from what I read there is nobody saying AMS were dropped in favour of another supplier, you have zero idea about what Apples CEO is thinking and the experts in the sector are saying that Micro LED is either delayed til 2027 or Apple are ditching it as viable in the watch due to the many issues in production. Read up ;) | longtallsally
01/3/2024 13:09 | Hopefully this is good news - Government approve Newport Wafer Fab sale to Vishay. | johntaylor247

01/3/2024 12:42 | sweenoid - seeing as you like quotes, here's another one for you. This time from Confucius: “Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.” | lord loads of lolly

01/3/2024 12:28 | Sell order worked for quite a few sessions. In the numbers now though. The question that arises is whether that's them finished? | boris cobaka

01/3/2024 12:06 | What's with the 24 million plus trade ? | dickiebird2

01/3/2024 10:02 | In the end,it always boils down to price.Pile it high and sell it cheap. | geraldus
01/3/2024 09:56 | Very difficult for a TU here as Micro LED is likely more about future orders. So it may not immediately impact revenue. If IQE was going to supply that big factory then it would impact on future revenue. IQE rarely comments on who their customers are in the supply chain. The funds involved will have some idea. Qualification normally applies before production starts. The fact the share has dropped over 10% suggests the market thinks IQE was a supplier here. They certainly supply products for Apple products. Apple watch sales have been declining in 2023 so maybe this is Apple reducing costs? Anyone who wants a 118inch Micro led tv only £190k. hxxps://www.whathifi So were in the early adopters market. | guildedge
01/3/2024 09:56 | On balance I need clarification on this matter before I buy any more, and Sweenoids chat with Americo came before the AMS news which was a bolt from the blue even for the AMS CEO. Whilst my holding probably isn’t the same size as Sweenoids and i’m averaged in the mid 30s due to my holding size i’m still down six figures. Yes I can afford to lose it but would rather not of course. Imo with the revenue prediction Anerico has been standing by being 3x 2022 revs the only way to get anywhere close is supplying a completely new product in huge quantities which may or may not be something like the Apple watch. If that is no longer utilising Micro LED, or at least not until 2027 or later then if we were supplying for that and building it into those revenue predictions that would scupper any huge revenue increases. Sure that may not be the case and this news may not have any affect BUT we have learnt in the past that any issues in the market always seems to find a way back to IQE! I’ll hold for now and leave the Roman quotations to others! | crosswires
01/3/2024 09:42 | Let’s hope that “chat” with the CEO hasn’t turned you into a “mug punter” Sweenoid ;) One of my heroes is David Brent, your posts often sound like they have a dash of him about them! | longtallsally
01/3/2024 09:20 | As my hero states “the impediment to action advances action, what stands in the way becomes the way” Or easier to understand ‘the obstacle is the way’ I have just bought some more. 😂😉 S | sweenoid
01/3/2024 08:32 | God this share is so frustrating there is always something to negatively impact it, it’s almost becoming a non investible company. I think IQE should issue something to lay to rest the gossip re Micro LED / AMS situation. Either way. | longtallsally
29/2/2024 21:31 | If poor figures come at update, I can see 12-15p on cards. Shame as I feel current board is a massive improvement from previous. | biglad1 |
