Savvy Investor.
Nice one on "early" transfer.
For some reason at the time I thought you had to be 55 for a SIPP, I wish I'd I'd TF to it much sooner.
Yes 55% is crazy, gov't taking advantage of OUR investing.
Do they share in any losing!!

Re cap gains, I TF to ISA as much as scheme allows, and other things equal, between ISA, Dealing and SIPP I keep in mind that shares in Dealing have cap gain taxed, so for shares with high gains expected (IQE) I tend to use SIPP & ISA.
By the time you and I could be hit by 55% tax, (e.g. after IQE get to glories highs maybe/hopefully) there is possibility gov will change the tax rules.
We had them relax on buying a (Ministers quote) Lamborghini etc, so it is possible they will relax rules/tax further in the years/decades to come.

One thing is certain today, for the first time in many weeks there is a battle to acquire stock in the face of deliberate activity to prevent the share price rising above 75p. Not sure why 75p is so important other than it leads us to 78p which if we break, the price could jump aggressively back to 96p which marked the crash on 2 November down to 56p.

There is some very aggressive two-way trading going on mainly to give the impression there are more sellers than buyers. Usually, the sellers have the upper hand and undermine the price in the closing dealings and following auction. With the volumes today it will be very interesting to see who wins the battle at the close.

Daily chart beginning to look very positive. Need a close above 78p to confirm a double bottom...one more good day!

No sign of shorts closing, suggesting buying is stake building perhaps.

'Mystic Mhass'?

Reminds me of the chap who went to a fortune teller and she said, "I see a lot of money coming your way"

That filled him with excitement, so much so that he dashed out into the street and got knocked down & killed by a Securicor van.

Might pay to 'look before you leap' into any share with 90% of your 'hoped for' pension.

I'm going to leap back into my garden and put a 'large deposit' [pruning] into my brown bin.GLA!

Dr Smith, I have another 8years before I can get the 25%. For the first time I am starting to think what happens with this crazy 55% tax on large SIPP holdings. It will be a nice problem to deal with at 210p a share. I see no reason it won't get there within 3 years, and much sooner with one or two bits of exciting news and some solid results..

mhaddanriaz don’t keep issuing such short term targets because last time you said we would take out £1 we ended up back at 58p ;)

All that matters is where we are in 1/2/3 yrs...

If its shorts running for their buck then I see this rising rapidly over 85p in no time. I so wish shorts are sweating especially Odey. Those 6 mil shares would be nice for starters. A bit ambitious but rightful.

maxwellsdemon,

Thanks for taking a look. I find it difficult with the notes on the applications whether they're just using the comparison between two CCDs for their 3D volume calculation, or whether the VCSEL is directly involved, too. Hopefully the latter, of course.

It's nice to see the flow of new releases from other OEMs picking up this year that potentially includes IQE tech ...

Well this is very interesting technically, not that I’m a particular convert to technical analysis but I think anyone who ignores it is closing off an avenue to a bigger picture view of what the market thinks. Cast back to the Apple profit warning and order cancellations. I decided to sell as many as I could on the first day, and l set 72p as my price. If I’d have set 71p I’d probably have sold my entire shareholding that day, from memory it dipped late in the day and perhaps ended at 69p, before rallying towards 71p again, where it quickly met overhead resistance and, as we know, retreated back to the early 60’s and eventually the late 50’s. I sold only 100,000 at 72p, a modest part of my shareholding, I recently reinvested the £72,000 and a bit more to close my short in the very low 60’s. We had a brief flurry back to 80ish a few weeks ago but it didn’t hold. I now think that overhead resistance at 72p may well be broken. We shall have to wait & see. But this was clearly the level at which the initial post Apple disruptions proved a ceiling for the shares, since when we’ve seen a healthy consolidation and now an advance... any technical analyst would find recent price action encouraging. Of course, a lot depends on what’s REALLY happening in the company, and clearly we’ll learn more with the Final Results in a few weeks time. Nonetheless as mentioned in a recent post, what really gets me excited about IQE is that, while clearly our new FD Tim Pullen is a sound appointment on paper and we all hope will have a strong positive influence in succession to the late Phil Rasmussen, whose tragic death last April was a serious blow, I believe our new Chairman elect, Phil Smith, is of such an elevated calibre and of such breadth of experience, l really feel his influence in the company’s leadership, in the BOD hot seat, it sets a very bullish backdrop on which to get our various customers and technologies through to major monetisation. We’re a year behind perhaps where we hoped to be after the wonderful IMS of July 2016, but with a sound financial base and perhaps once again a growing share price, we’ve got the makings of quite a bullish scenario for LTHs on a 2 year view IMHO. The short closing effect may or may not add further impetus, a short squeeze is nice for bulls and short term traders but will need real world progress to sustain it. Let’s hope a significant number of the 25 new and potential customers turn to sizable orders and that another 25 potential customers aren’t far behind.
As ever DYOR. Good luck all, with the ghastly Mr Trump still in office we all need that.

Savvy Investor.
Yes, you are nuts. ;-)
My average was 28p but topped up at 1.20, now average 61p.
Holding is 22% but was more percentage wise of course before price halved, so say a mad 44%.
Therefore with your 90%, simple maths says you are more than twice as mad as me!!!
The thing with the long game, if you need dosh in interim, you don't want to sell with suppressed share price . such as what we have now. Hope you grabbed your 25% tax free and have that for contingency / fun / Lamborghini.

Provonar,

I have had a quick search on Google for more info on the Honor 3D camera but I can't find much.

However, here is another wacky application for 3D cameras. Needs some refinement but potentially it could be quite useful?

Honor Magic 2 update adds calorie and weight detection for foods in HiVision

..........An update has just been released that adds new features to HiVision as first seen on the Huawei Mate 20, allowing you to point your camera at food to calculate roughly how many calories it has to varying degrees of success. The update will bring your device to version C00E131R1P19, and weighs in at roughly 591MB.............

Looks like the Honor View20 (V20) smartphone (sub-brand of Huawei) was released yesterday. From the fragments gleaned online, it looks like this model has two VCSEL arrays in it. I don't suppose anyone here has got more concrete information on the spec.? Or who the Tier 1 supplier of the arrays is? Who might possibly be a client of IQE?

Thanks Dave, good advise! I am slightly nuts at around90% of SIPP here at average of 62.4. I will not sell until 2021 as I know the big market growth will be the next 2 to 3 years and then consolidation. I understand the risks, I believe he tech/market valuation and revenue growth here justifies this craziness. Time will tell, but I do see a chance of a £1 test in he next week as shorts are forced to question whether they are short because it was falling or short because the company is not market leading in high growth markets...

Savvy Investor.
I transferred my pension into SIPP 16/1/13. Actuarial rates for annuities were at historic low levels, meaning payout had to be bigger to give me the contracted pension, so a nice boost. The FTSE also took off soon after, and I was 10% up in 6 months on top of the higher pension payout, so meant I had a fab start, a cushion.
Up and down since, but nicely up NET.
If that journey had started in other years, when FTSE has gone down, it would have been a scarier jouney.
You know already, being Savvy, but I would like to remind you that sh*t can and does happen and logic is not always followed, so try to factor that into whatever strategy you may have. Think of worst case scenario and plan for avoidance of it should it happen in the market.
That's the theory, reality is hard to fathom.
IQE is a good example of where market doesn't always follow fundamentals.
I don't wish you luck, that implies a game of chance, I wish you a good strategy. :-)
Dave.
