17/1/2019 17:00 | You can summon a taxi to be at your door in 10 minutes. Don’t see the point of driverless vehicles | volsung
17/1/2019 16:55 | Oh I do remember mr elbee as Im a child of the sixties. There are so many things that have happened & have indeed come true. To say that we will not have driverless cars in the next 75 years is just completely wrong. | blueflame
17/1/2019 16:07 | Oh AVs will happen, for sure. It'll be a massive misallocation of resources if it doesn't! The big prize I think will be a significant drop in 1-1 car ownership, at least in urban areas. Why face all the hassle of owning a car with minimal useage when you can simply summon an AV to arrive outside your front door in 5-10 minutes? Which makes me wonder why the car makers are spending so much money on the problem....... | sf5
17/1/2019 15:31 | Blade runner ! | traderglt
17/1/2019 15:26 | LOL - Space 1999 - I well remember running around class shooting people with my school staple gun laser! | kazoom
17/1/2019 14:31 | Savvy just sit on the naughty step as nobody other than Sheepy is a successful investor, he can teach us all ;) | tomduck
17/1/2019 14:10 | To clarify my poor sentence. Speed meant speed to market of those needing IQE product. I don't know huge amount on that technical level, I do, however, know that Apple do enough TECHNICAL due diligence on their suppliers, hence conclusion it is not slow or backdated tech. | savvy investor
17/1/2019 14:08 | Wow, huge conviction, Savvy! My own guideline is to measure my exposure in terms of years of personal expenditure. IQE maxed out at 2 years in 2017 but now down to 1 year. So I guess I'll just have to live one year less, unless share price recovers....... | sf5
17/1/2019 13:56 | Savvy, ask your tech mates what the hell speed has got to do with IQEs offering for 5G. Be interesting to hear. | sheep_herder
17/1/2019 13:52 | It was aimed at Savvy. But hey, takes one to know one. Savvy, buy some ALT and you'll retire faster my son. EPS of 7,25,50p I reckon for 19,20,21. | sheep_herder
17/1/2019 13:14 | Agreed, mostly big balls needed to make lots of money, not interested in making a little amount...also agree minimal risk too, possible downside to 50p but doubt lower | tomduck
17/1/2019 13:03 | Or stupid or clever. I have done my own DD and many very technical friends who understand the tech stack value. They believe it is a logical takeover for either a chip company or even Apple who like to ow the supply chain and get ahead by owning tech that is in short supply. It is hard to make a lot of money without being somewhat brave.. | savvy investor
17/1/2019 12:46 | 85% of your SIPP in a single AIM-listed stock? That's er... brave | compo62
17/1/2019 12:32 | I have moved 85% of my sizeable SIPP into this in the last 36 hours having owned for nearly a year at much higher level. I see the worst case scenario a small fall in the short term. The assets and cash and cash flow reduce risk, the IP is excellent and the 5G world will be all about speed hence pricing power to IQE as supply will be short. I will either kick myself or retire at 55 on this one. | savvy investor
17/1/2019 11:01 | Savvy, my ethos exactly, 2yrs is nothing but most investors don;t seem to have even the modicum of patience. We missed our chance to sell at £1.50+ however this just means we'll have even more to gain next time it gets back up there and higher... | tomduck
17/1/2019 07:53 | Yesterday prices make no sense. I invested heavily, each purchase between 60 and 61, yet the price always showed between 59.3 and 59.8. I wouldn't mind, but it was 4 separate buys and they were very sunstantial so makes no sense... I will not sell until 2021 at a minimum as have missed the real growth by trying to time things before. | savvy investor
17/1/2019 07:40 | Barclays Capital reiterates 'overweight' this morning. | bocase
16/1/2019 22:07 | three generations...Dont be ridiculous! | blueflame
16/1/2019 20:10 | three generations..not one | mr.elbee
16/1/2019 19:56 | Fully driverless en masse was always generations ;) away, way too much needs to change (including infrastructure) before then imo. | tomduck
16/1/2019 13:43 | Somewhat disappointing update this morning from SEE about timeframe for L4/5 AVs "We had a series of productive automotive OEM and Tier 1 meetings at CES in Las Vegas last week. More generally, our positive outlook on the DMS market globally was supported by the significant emphasis and prioritisation at CES of semi-autonomous Level 2 and Level 3 driving technology, whilst the introduction of fully driverless vehicles at Level 4 and Level 5 is now anticipated to be much further away than the industry had predicted." Any views on how many Lidars a Level 3 vehicle will need? Level 2 is already available and Level 3 is supposed to arrive within a year or two. Audi A8 is said to be near that level. | sf5
16/1/2019 12:37 | Meijiman. At top level, very much agree, but upon drilling down... If fundamentals are the same, true and not misleading (e.g. presentation and representaions made at time of offer) then they have no right to feel agrieved with BOD. If it is market sentiment, short term views, macro economics, then it is the supposed instititions wisdom that is lacking and only have themselves to blame. I think my view is balanced as I have bought in at 28p average topped up at £1.20 on long term belief. Latter purchase was swayed by feeling that sentiment would be bouyed at £1.40+ with institutional input who have greater awareness and visibility of shorting action. Dave | dr_smith |
