14/1/2019 23:42 | You mean IQE is expanding on fake demand created internally and the books are cooked. Then why get Tim from ARM, How come councils are invested along with UK govt. no due diligence done. Last year's £145 Million came out of thin air. Is that enough or shall we get in more detail ? | mhassanriaz
14/1/2019 22:07 | Maybe, augustus, though I thought most of the claims in the Shadow report of a year ago had been dissed. I'd say it's simply that we are at risk of another profits warning before the 'promised land' hoves into sight. Wasn't there an old stockmarket adage that PWs come in 3's? Certainly there was Stockopedia 'research' last spring concluding that it's generally best to exit after a 1st PW. Until there's clear evidence of meaningful volume contracts having been signed (rather than 'potentialled')that will replace the Apple shortfall this, in my view, remains the biggest short-term risk. | sf5

14/1/2019 17:42 | adejuk 14 Jan '19 - 15:33 - 23923 of 23924 "barring a black swan i feel confident we will double this year." -End- Hi ade, a 'thumb-up' from me. Good to hear/read that you're a bit more upbeat. What with your doubling of share price to say 122p, APHRO's 150p and his Hong Kong fund manager still [hopefully] suggesting that a 200p takeover is COMING SOON, I too am feeling a bit less downbeat. Just hope that I don't end up in The Black Swan a year from now, drowning my sorrows, drinking doubles during 'unhappy hour'. I guess a share price rise for two consecutive days was a bit too much to ask. If our new CFO comes swooping into the car park in Feb. riding on a donkey, I'll take that as 'a sign'. They say that 'no news is good news', so maybe IQE's BOD is holding us in suspense? GLA! | regasclockwork
14/1/2019 15:44 | Well, let's certainly hope so. Even then it will still be well below the price institutions paid in Nov' 17. | aimingupward2

14/1/2019 14:06 | MWD thanks for that. An amazing phone 6.3 inch compared to the Honor 10 with a 5.99 inch screen. Date for international sale 22 January at what seems a very competitive price. Can see the Asian market snapping this phone up with this large screen size. Looks like IQE revenue will be made up hopefully to budgeted levels despite the Apple woes. | picobird
14/1/2019 14:02 | Max - Do we provide services to Sony? | mhassanriaz
14/1/2019 11:45 | More on the Sony 3D camera system. With 3D cameras on the front and rear (world facing) of the phones we could be looking at increased VCSEL wafer content per phone? So despite the setbacks with Apple there is some reason for hope on the horizon. Sony is hyping up 3D technology. We know what you’re thinking — the last time we were told 3D would change our lives, the powers that be were mistaken. However, this time things could be different, as the 3D itself is not on our televisions, but in our phones. Sony has started to push new, improved 3D sensors for better-than-ever face unlocking, plus more depth and new features to make the growing world of mobile augmented reality way more compelling.......... ............We won’t have to wait long until we try out a 3D sensor on a widely available smartphone. The Honor View 20, due to launch internationally at the end of January, uses Sony’s new single-lens IMX586 camera along with similar TOF 3D sensors to measure distance and generate a bokeh effect. Honor also revealed the camera can be used to scan real-life objects to animate them using augmented reality, much like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.......... The Honor View 20 is the first phone to use Sony’s IMX586 sensor, which has 48-megapixels. It’s a big sensor, and has been squeezed into the 8mm thick body alongside 3D Time-of-Flight sensors to measure distance for bokeh and portrait shots, and enable high quality 3D modelling and pinsharp augmented reality, much like a Microsoft Kinect. We only used the camera inside, and we examined some of the 48-megapixel shots of people and objects, which revealed a stunning level of detail. To create low-light photos, the Honor View 20 will use 4-into-1 pixel binning and the established Huawei-created, A.I. driven stabilization feature called Aritificial Intelligence Stabilization. | maxwellsdemon

14/1/2019 09:34 | I thought news over the last couple of days is slightly positive ( I am a glass half full kind of guy) .IQE has effectively suffered badly from Apples premium pricing strategy. Over the last week, Apples Chinese dealer network have have been allowed to offer much improved trade ins on existing phones and allowed discounting on prices over to get stock in the channel moving. I think Apple have learnt that if they want to do business in China they will have to offer better value in the higher volume categories. Also, last years product refresh was uninspiring but 2019 there are suggestions of some more interesting technological advances.... It all takes time...but I think Apple has learnt a painful lesson. Don't forget that many electronic companies have learnt that as a market matures they have to sacrifice margin at the front end to get the service revenue at the back end. If Apple don't get it other firms will win market share and IQE should still make money if it maintains market share ! | bootycall

14/1/2019 08:03 | Cotswold, you're confused by my comments, the snippets you've selected are not mutually exclusive. And given you were on the IMG thread, perhaps you should know better how accurate my comments are. Tom, I'm not close to the top having left Arm a long time ago, but 20 plus years brings with it friends in high places. How's your investment going? Edit: perhaps I should say that my comments immediately following the announcement of the new CFO were my own view. Subsequent comments have been made with clarity on the situation. | sheep_herder
14/1/2019 07:48 | I know people in Molde. Nice part of the world. Tha Atlantic Way is nice | volsung
13/1/2019 22:43 | Quite right Belt n Braces and on the other side of your list I could say that up until recently Jose Mourinho was considered (by at least one person) to be the greatest football manager ever to set foot on the planet. As it now turns out he is currently being outperformed by a Norwegian chap who despite being manager of Molde (whoever they are) was so unimportant to them that they were prepared to loan him out for a few months and let his assistant take charge. To denigrate Tim Pullen I think is nonsense. But equally to suggest on the other side of the argument that he will transform the fortunes of IQE is also fanciful. I don't in anyway underestimate the importance of a good CFO, but whilst I have seen poor or misguided CFOs trash companies. I have rarely seen good CFOs single-handedly transform the prospects of already successful businesses. Could Tim Pullen have stopped Apple from pulling out of orders that were already 'committed'? Tim can certainly contribute to future bull case that I tend to agree is still there, but he is not going to be able to make the 2018 results look pretty. | kazoom
13/1/2019 22:16 | Sheepie, I see you're falling back on unverifiable statements again. The old, 'I can't back up what I'm saying as I was told it in confidence...you'll just have to trust me' ploy! You also seem to have escalated from "I know how ARM deals with bad management choices" (#21885) to "I can't clarify any more on what I was told as it came from close to the top" (#23899) while backtracking from "Tim Pullen was sent by Arm, they just didn't care where he went..." (#23878) to "The way Arm deals with getting rid of people is usually ... the fact that this didn't happen at least means it was at best mutual." (#23899) If you can't back up your comments, why post it? It happened on IMG BBs as well, don't know if you were one of them but it's pointless, IMO. Let him get his feet under the table at IQE. Hopefully his first job will be to resurrect the project to move from AIM to main market which should bring some stability to the share price. Of course, there's always the option of going to the AGM and questioning him / the board directly rather than anonymously posting rubbish on BBs. But I'm sure you'll have a good excuse about why you can't go this year ;-)! 'Nuff said on the matter... CS | cotswoldsparky |
