1918? EC wasn't formed until 1957. ;-)
See what happens if you burn the midnight oil. ;-)

Thanks Bukko,
It’s a shame that the UKs contribution is significantly less than the others....perhaps due to previous funding

Thank you for the detail to that deal Bukko.
Again if the IQE PR machine was properly oiled with say a friendly face in Fleet St say though this seeking Alpha interface for instance, then the great coups that the management achieve could be publicized to the people they are trying to reach without stalling halfway.

The IPCEI program in the news section of IQE website a few days ago was announced by the EC back in December 2018. A number of people on here scoured the week end newspapers for further comment /information and found nothing because they should have been looking 4 or 5 weeks ago not now!

I have on file an article on the announcement by Peter Clarke in eeNews Europe dated 20 Dec 2018 which is a good summary of the programme. Picobird posted a link to the article

Going by his comments however he appears to have misread the article.

The role of the EC was to provide a framework -
"to protect the European Union and member states against charges of contravening World Trade Organization rules on state subsidies for industries. The IPCEI rules support investments for research, development and innovation and first industrial deployment on condition that the projects receiving this funding are highly innovative and do not cover mass production or commercial activities."

The funding is provided by the participating countries to their companies NOT from EU.
The UK is providing up to 48M euro. I do not see any adverse effects from Brexit as the Wales projects have been vetted against WTO rules and are good to go and public funding is from UK.

The programme is due to complete in 2024 so good to regard as a future roadmap. Perhaps some elements ready for deployment well in advance of 10 yrs .Who knows?

Those heavily-invested and perhaps overweight LTH holders of IQE may like me find it hard to avoid frequent checks of the share price throughout the day. Some may have noticed an almost flat-line price of 70p throughout the afternoon today. Could that be down to US markets being closed today for their Martin Luther King public holiday? If so, could we look forward to the US markets giving the price a boost tomorrow afternoon as they pick up on Friday's 13% rise and today's further 5% uplift? Fingers crossed.

Here is a wacky application for a "long range" 3D camera in a iPhone:

Jan 20, 2019, 09:10pm
Apple Accidentally Reveals Radical New iPhone

............Apple states the motion detection is handled via accelerometers (which have existed in every model of iPhone), while subject detection requires a proximity-based sensor. Currently, iPhones only have short range proximity sensors (for portrait shots and Face ID facial recognition) but Sony has already unveiled its long-range 3D camera sensor and confirmed its partnership with Apple.

Sony's 3D Camera technology maps objects up to 5 metres away.

Needless to say, not everything Apple patents comes to market but the timing here is uncanny. It conveniently adds colour to an existing partnership for new technology at the exact moment slowing iPhone sales have placed pressure on Apple to show it can innovate.

Not everyone will like an iPhone which can automatically open its camera, but it will get people talking. It may also be enough - in conjunction with Apple’s ‘back to the future’ move - to distract buyers from missing 5G and the minimal 2019 design changes...............

I am with you there Regas. However at today's meagre rate of increase (5%) it would only take 22 trading days to get back to the all time high of 1.80 plus.

We can but dream..but as a poster said today, something's afoot and it is not his willy.

"Good to see us close at 70p. It has been a while." -End-

It has indeed bocase. Last time was on 14-12-2018 when it was 71.05p [intra-day]. Closed down 4.6p at 63.5p.

Both you and I said recently that we could see IQE and VRS passing each other [share price wise] 'like ships in the night'.

Some time back, VRS soared to around 194p whilst IQE sunk to 55p.

Close today saw IQE at 70p and VRS down 1p to 123.5p.

I don't want to see IQE pass VRS at 123.5p. What I prefer is that the latter soars back to 194p and IQE hits a new high of 195p, before blasting through 200p. Then, we would ALL be winners!

I can see it all happening, before my very eyes! GLA!

Just a pedestrian 5% rise today.

"Can I smell a slight whiff of bid interest here?" -End-

Hi tonsil, or could it be 'a slight whiff' of a bid drifting over from a 'Hedge Fund Manager in Hong Kong'?

If so, the talk is £2 and has been since 16-05-18 [IQE 128p]. "VERY SOON", springs to mind.

Do you get my drift? My lips aren't sealed, but I know a pair that are. GLA!

Looking good, think a run up to 80p would be in order now.

TVM diplomat for the last Sweeney report, it’s easily forgotten.
I have pinched a link from the LSE forum to a Yole webcast which includes a gorgeous 47 page colour presentation relating to the current VCSEL market.

It was made available on 31/10/2018 & gives a very clear pictorial display of what is going on with the main players re 3D sensing

(You should get a clear idea of how important IQE is at the epiwafer stage from the pictures 😁)

Bocase, yes a significant holding, not quite Seeeney levels but maybe half a Sweeney. Been very happy with the share price falls over past year, and remain a firm believer...
