Why is it the PR department's fault, for your own bad investment decision? The punters never blame themselves for a poor call, always someone else fault? If the company is actually a great company, as per the belief of the many followers on here, then all will come good in the end?

If you are reading, can you give us a trading update!

----------------

YES.

We have taken no new orders since the last update and have received several cancellations.

We could not keep you informed earlier - as we have been very busy fighting fires and preparing for a large placing to shore-up a previously un-noticed large black hole in the accounts.

Thank you for your unquestioning belief in our company.

Regas, My guess was 31st Dec had legal significance.
Could have been a contingency clause at previous employer, so even if 31/12 was communicated long ago, not absolute until it arrived, leaving 3 working days at IQE for Admin to finalise/formalise details. Timing and scope of comment seemed normal to me.

Regas:

I too have thought it strange and rather sad that we get a thumbs down whenever we mention the lack of PR..but now we know management read our posts it makes sense.

The thumbs down is probably coming from the head of PR.

Hi Diplomat65,

Personally I don't really have any complaints about IQE's "PR". When they first gave their very helpful guidance on 2018, the could perhaps have been more upfront on how very sensitive the 2018 numbers would be to a single customer (they who cannot be named), but other than that no major gripes from me.

If you read around the bulletin boards there have always been lots of complaints about lack of news-flow from various companies and how this is down to "poor PR" , "Customer Confidentiality" or "Keeping the price down to help out their mate". The truth is most often more prosaic, lack of news-flow = lack of newsworthy stuff today.

Take today's announcement :

"uniquely positioned to capitalise on a range of rapid high growth opportunities driven by adoption of our world leading technologies across multiple market applications."

You might complain that is a bit "wooly" perhaps, but you might also conclude that they would not use that particular form of words if they already had signed orders of company changing magnitude.

Sure they could be a bit more rampy about their prospects, but that would be jam tomorrow - who would believe them when the 2018 consignment of jam which was already packaged up and on the way to the stores got canned.

Why in any case is everyone so frantic about the current share price, when they all profess to be in for the long term and interested the size of the business and the share price in a year or two?

Grity, "We get a raging bull coment after every reporting period pointing to the future."
I joined Nat West as an employee in 1977 when they spoke spoke of great foundations and building for the future.

I resigned 23 years later when they spoke of
.. great foundations and building for the future.

I thinks it's endemic corporate speak. ;-)

PR is important but, at the end of the day, it is the delivery that counts.
IQE is the last UK major semi conductor company still not taken over.
At this share price level, it could attract some interest from China in particular for a takeover. Manufacturing from Europe should strengthen China credibility on 5G "spying via Huawei". Huawei could get all its main components from IQE ...

I know the Director’s read the B/B’s having received a reply from one to whom I wrote a personal letter (sent by post not email) regarding the inaccurate reporting by the FT.

I appreciate email is a quick and the accepted method of communication these days, but more often than not, a letter in hard form addressed to a director in the company does occasionally bear fruit.

If Tim Pullen is going to have any influence and change to the company’s performance, I would have expected him to have been in regular contact with the Board in recent weeks while he has been on gardening leave. I wouldn’t mind betting the RNS today and lack of content, other than when he is starting with the company, did have something to do with the comments made on this ADVFN thread. In fact, if I was Tim Pullen/IQE, I would certainly want as much publicity about the appointment as IQE can instigate.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this is the 2019 sea-change start to news from the company that we have been looking for.

The only thing that is going to move this in (either direction) is the results on the 21st March. Ime pretty sure the can will be kicked towards the 1/2 yearly in September. Like it always is .
I mean that comment from Drew at the end of the RNS Sums it up Jam tomorrow ! We get a raging bull coment after every reporting period pointing to the future.

It seems very odd, then, that they bother to read this board, which you have you said they do.

I don't bother writing to them anymore. They do not even have the courtesy to reply to emails. I sense they are contemptuous of investors like us sadly. Neil Ricketts over at VRS knows how to make his shareholders feel valued. He paid a personal visit to an elderly, infirm shareholder before Christmas who was unable to travel to a VRS presentation. Good luck to NR I say. IQE could learn a lot from NR's approach to PR which he manages himself alongside his CEO responsibilities.

I bet Mr Pullen had a finish date of 31st December and is taking a holiday, maybe a spot of skiing.
Newcomers are often taken down the local boozer first day.. or first Friday lunchtime. We can gatecrash, so who is going?
Wear a white lab coat with lots of pens in the top pocket and you'll be mistaken for an employee. ;-)
If I was Tim, mind switching off from old role, I'd certainly be reading all about IQE with gusto.
I am excited for him, so much going on and he is getting in at the (near) ground floor.

Tim, if you're reading this, no white coat for you, buy yourself a top notch tailor made suit. You only get one chance for a first impression and that includes the City boys. Your first week could well include photos hitting mainstream media!

Very best wishes.

Dave Smith.

"....positioned to capitalise...." to my mind implies not a lot of contracts in the bag yet, but hopeful of winning some. Maybe I'm unduly negative?

That said, Forbes is suggesting next major iphone revamp will have ToF rear camera along with better TouchID, but no 5G

Diplomat:

Excellent post.

Over on another board (HUR) we have confirmation that the directors read that board too. Of course they do. Why would they not. It is vital for them to know what the public perception is, right or wrong.

I agree about the vagueness of the update. Pretty meaningless when so much more could be said. At least it is a start. They could show the shorters the exit if they build on it.

Come on Tim Pullen. I am sure you read this too. Take the comments on board and make some changes to PR when you start.

I think with the "battering" they receive continuously from PI's, the management will definitely start being pro-active and will release some news soon.
I only hope this won't find anybody short.

Oh but they do Hornblower. Three of the Directors confirmed that very fact to me independently when I met them at a Wales Innovation presentation in London last year. I invited readers of this BB to give me questions to ask on their behalf during the Q&A session that followed IQE's presentation given by Dr Drew Nelson. I was approached afterwards by the Technical Director (name escapes me but might have been Phil Smith) and asked if I was Diplomat65 from the ADVFN board. He enjoyed telling me they recognised me by the questions I put to them.Back to the woeful PR efforts that IQE's share price are shackled by, Dr Nelson makes this statement at the end of Tim Pullen's welcome start date RNS issued this morning:". . . uniquely positioned to capitalise on a range of rapid high growth opportunities driven by adoption of our world leading technologies across multiple market applications."How vague can you be? Are RNS's charged by the word? Why can't he spell out what a couple of those opportunities are, which applications? Use words that potential new investors like Joe Public and Fund Managers in particular might understand and be excited by. Dr Nelson's words mean nothing to nobody. Invest some of the profits in recruiting a bloody PR professional . . . . PLEASE!!!!
