08/1/2019 12:56 | Guys get real, people who short only have one concern, making some money, often not that much either, conpared to long term holders who compound. However it’s legal so why keep going on, it’s reality deal with it. I’m holding off buying another big tranch until the Brexit vote (15th), but I must say below 55 it’ll be hard not to push the buy button. | tomduck
08/1/2019 12:52 | Bootycall: Totally agree. I am quite happy for you to stay on your soapbox. Another side of this argument is the damage that it does to our companies. By driving the share price artificially lower by sequentially triggering stops and margin calls it makes life difficult for companies trying to raise money putting their expansion and job creation in jeopardy, so if you are shorting the shares you can be affecting the livelihoods of the workers whilst lining your pocket at their expense. We should be giving encouragement to our young expanding companies not making life difficult for them. | bocase
08/1/2019 12:52 | Muddy waters (MD) did not state illegal accounting practices? I would have thought that Carson Block, who is a lawyer would be more careful than that. Also and having read the MD research, my view was that this was carried out in a professional manner taking great care to stick to known facts only. In regards to accounting (I think I have said this before on this board), accounting is an art rather than a science, with the resultant P&L heavily dependent on how the directors views certain elements of expenditure. The problem how I see it with IQE, is the heavy amount debited to intangibles and also the annual requirement to show the figures in an 'adjusted' manner. | belt n braces
08/1/2019 12:45 | I used to be critical of IQE without a CFO. Now they have engaged one, coming from the same sector and with a very good company, ARM Holdings, at this share price level it is definitely a good opportunity to buy. Firstly, they are profitable, have cash and a unique technology with a factory that cannot be easily replicated by others. Adding that any bad news is already factored in the share price. So, in one year from now, I can see the share price reach at least £1 which equates to a 66% return to my investment. Even if we extrapolate to Imagination Tech with a takeover, it will definitely be above £1. So where do you get such a return ? | fuji99
08/1/2019 12:42 | I strongly believe shorting in small and midcap stocks is detrimental to the market. If it is to be tolerated, the regulator should consider introducing an “uptick” rule. This would stop shorters using momentum. I am sure Belt n braces is only to aware of margin calls. Often shorters can trigger long positions to be liquidated just by driving down share prices when the market is weak. Most CFD houses don’t even bother to inform their clients these days (other than by email) and close out positions automatically. Conversely I do appreciate that would work the same way in a bear squeeze. The worst part about shorting behaviour is when cash starved growth companies find their share price targeted just in front on a fund raise. The shorters know that most large shareholders will be restricted from dealing and a false market forms which is then exploited. Anyway, I will get off my soap box for now. hxxps://www.investop | bootycall
08/1/2019 12:38 | adejuk, did they allege 'illegal' or 'misleading'. I thought that the directors rebuff of these allegations were nothing short of pathetic - leading me to have more confidence in the research of the shorters than I did before the response. | augustusgloop
08/1/2019 12:33 | commissioning lying articles which allege illegal accounting practices is egregious. and they are not closing. if they were the share price would be rising and i believe shorting is immoral | adejuk
08/1/2019 12:32 | Bootycall: A well reasoned post. I believe the fundamental problem with the IQE share price is the lack of understanding of the markets it serves apart from the mobile phone sector. When the market realises this because management make it very clear then I believe the share will re-rate and this link with peak of mobile phones will finally be broken. | bocase
08/1/2019 12:23 | DaveMac3 If you care to read back my posts, I have been short from circa 145p down (on and off)- always short when the daily trend was negative. Was called a muppet by sweenoid when everyone here was kneeling at his feet. adejuk It is the so called shorting gang that is presently holding the price up, by closing. Shorting is not illegal, so is simply a part of the investment decision game. | belt n braces
08/1/2019 11:08 | I just traded in and out of this stock and lost money in the process. The reason I bailed so quickly is I thought the shares had put in a “ double bottom” but now I am not so sure. When I purchased my shares, they were immediately marked down, a classic sign of a shorters algo. I can see from the investor presentation that this Company has a broad product offering in very high growth markets that augurs well for the medium term. Having invested in Immagination Technologies I am well aware of the games Apple play. They poached some key members of staff before they decided to go “in house” with their supply chain. The channel for IQE is overstocked in some key product lines so I suspect this company will be having two bad quarters and then the clouds will lift to some extent. Now you have a heavyweight new FD joining the Company it is pointless berating the Board until after the next trading statement. The new FD will not want any new guidance being issued until he has fully appraised the situation. If the shares derate further I will find a new level to invest... but for the time being as Duncan Ballantyne would say “I’m out”. The only way I have survived these brutal market conditions is to position trade. If you see technical weakness, get out and re enter stocks you believe in at a lower price. Of course this is a useless piece of advice if the market rallies, but the institutions seem to be sitting on their hands at the moment. I also believe that following an excellent run in previous years this company will take time to rebuild its rating. Just to be clear I think IQE is undervalued and an interesting recovery stock, but I think it may have further down to go, because of rating compression. I will probably buy just before the next trading statement is due. GLA | bootycall

08/1/2019 10:03 | Why is it the PR department's fault, for your own bad investment decision? The punters never blame themselves for a poor call, always someone else fault? If the company is actually a great company, as per the belief of the many followers on here, then all will come good in the end? | belt n braces
