Diplomat65. (In general not IQE specific context).
I assume you mean your SIPP not a pension run by a third party.
It makes me despondent, but from start have conviction long term view will win and Brexit short term inefficiency aside, I believe that is still so, so try not to get too bogged down with the detail. Maybe I am putting my head in the sand, but believe fundamentals are good, and would feel myself fooolish to sell on adverse sentiment (unless I saw it coming). The long term view at inception means riding the troughs,, such as now, so .. still to plan, scary yes, but to do anything else would be fool hardy.
IMO.
We are all different, and have to sleep at night. I don't have a spouse to account to, so that makes it a little easier I would assume.

In July they said there were 20 qualification under process & that increased to 25 in November. We really need them to say something in the line of
X amount of customers have been Qualified, production started and we have ordered x number of mocvds, in next weeks TU. if we get one that is .

This is really getting me down watching my pension fund slowly being eroded day by day. Some good news from the Company would be welcome and bring long-suffering IQE supporters some much needed Christmas cheer.

Interesting, grity. Also rumours that Apple is developing its own 5G modems partly due to its dispute with Qualcomm hxxps://www.trustedreviews.com/news/apple-iphone-5g-2019-3636326 No comments on whether they would use compound semiconductors.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing"...and so is patience and we have all had a lot of practise at that.

This is what Drew Nelson told the BBC today.

"a recent drop in the value of IQE was a short-term blip as it prepared for a major expansion in manufacturing."

I take that as a positive signal for the forward statement we may get next week.

Maybe you will get your chance of a nice profit yet Regas. I am certainly still a believer though expect to have to wait quite a bit longer than I originally thought.

As you say. Such is life.

albert may have got out on 19th November 2017 when it was 175p?

Having said that, it possibly wasn't as that was a Sunday.

Whatever, I wish I'd sold at 175p on 20 - Nov. 2017 after having made my first purchase at 157p a couple of months or so earlier. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Such is life.

Hopefully that BBC article doesn’t replace a trading update. We could do with a very upbeat sounding one soon specially for the investors like us , rather than one on the news for joe public.

So if your a market maker and you have a buyer in the USA, wouldn't you want to accumulate stock in the morning as cheaply as possible and sell in the afternoon to your buyer at a higher agreed price. Makes perfect sense if you know most of your trade is with USA. What I don't like is the way this makes UK investors look like mugs.

Thank you Taffy100.

Good to see Drew Nelson coming out publicly with statements like

Dr Nelson also told BBC Wales that "a recent drop in the value of IQE was a "short-term blip" as it prepared for a major expansion in manufacturing."

and

"It's a very short-term blip... demand fluctuates all the time and there are certain products which, if they don't sell very well, [have] an impact on the supply chain."

"In the long-term it doesn't make any difference at all."

Well Regas, If we hit 150p by year end I will gladly donate £250 to you to buy a spare part of your choice. Your wife is welcome to make suggestions. Unfortunately, I think my bet is safe and you will have to make do with the old parts...but many a fine tune etc...

Hi bocase, that 200p per share of yours sounds fantastic, but I almost certainly won't be around in year 2049 to benefit from it. Unless spare parts are more readily available by then?

However, 150p could still be-on-the-cards for 31-December this year.

All we need is a couple of Chinese outfits to get engaged in a 'bidding-war' and by year end Sheepy could find himself dipping into his pocket for £250? [See terms of bet below]:

sweenoid3 Dec '18 - 10:59 - 23374 of 23511

"The only reason for me posting today is to pay a debt and to fulfil an obligation."

"Firstly, let me remind you, that many moons ago I challenged Sheepherder to a bet, related to the IQE share price at end of trading on 31st of December, I bet it would be 150p plus, he said it wouldn’t, fair dinkum, Sheepy rose to the challenge. The loser would pay £250 to the charity of choice of the winner. Well, no prizes for working out that I end up with egg on my face." -End-

Sweeney threw-the-towel-in on 3-December [IQE 74.3p], so he's very confident that 150p won't be hit by year end.

However, we've had huge reversals in the past. I remember someone on here once saying, "I've increased my target from 185p to 225p". And, it fell to 55p without ever reaching even that 185p.

So, a rise from today's 70.3p to 150p by year end could still materialise. GLA!
