I was glad to see that Sweenoid made a return to this board, although disappointed that he has been so put off by the low level snipping of some here, that he has vowed not to return. However, judging by the over whelming number of likes he achieved I hope he realises that the vast majority here appreciate his input far more than that of his detractors. And for our sack, reconsiders his decision.

Thank you Mhassan.

I think the important point for us all is that demand for compound wafers is going to increase exponentially. Yes it will be de-railed from time to time by Macro events (Apple's slow down - Trump Trade wars - Over-valued US markets - Brexit etc being just a few examples) but for long term holders, the story is intact and compelling. For traders..well good luck. That is a lot more difficult. I have the T-shirt.

Bocase your more experienced and I cant disagree with you. Respect.

After brexit vote and Trump election I expect the unexpected. The rest time will tell. I hope I am wrong.

If you had invested in a FTSE tracker in 1999 you would now have less in your fund, even without adjusting for inflation over 18 years. The FTSE was high of course in 1999 due to the dotcom bubble.

The Dow on the other hand has gone from (roughly) 10000 to 25000 over the same period.

I do not agree with mhassanriaz's assertion that the markets will be hitting new highs in Q1 2019. I think there is a strong possibility of major falls in the US due to over-valuation and slowing global economy, however UK stocks have been beaten down severely by Brexit and are relatively cheap, so whilst we may fall with the US, I suspect we will rebound.

Just my view and of course the macro view is just as important as the particular story from IQE.

Chip maker Broadcom released results and gave a good 2019 sales forecast sending it's shares higher last night.

Should help.

We should see a healthy rise in the morning. stocks recouped well. I see the markets hitting the new highs in 2019 late first quarter especially techs and online fashion industry.

Interesting article on Apple shares but in particular the section on the 5G super cycle which will drive replacement of our iphones, should also drive IQE's share price.

Yes £2 a share. Bring it on indeed. I suspect it will happen but I think Trump needs to choke on something first. He seems intent on destroying the world economy.

Everything comes to he who waits..including death. It is a matter of which comes first. IQE at £2 or a date with the grim reaper.

"Wow! One swallow does not make a summer but still nice to see a 4.5% turnaround in the share price in the last 30 minutes of trading,...." -End-

And a "WOW!" from me this morning bocase. IQE 81.9p [intra-day] last Thursday. Today, as I write, it's 68p, down 14p [-17%].

It's not all gloom & doom though bocase. Remember this one from APHRO?

APHRODITES30 Jul '18 - 14:03 - 19421 of 23431

"You will recall I said my Hedge Fund colleague in Hong Kong believed IQE will be taken over."

"I met up with him for dinner over the weekend and we discussed IQE."

"For what it is worth, he believes the company is in play and any takeover would exceed £2." -End-

That was back in July, so Let's hope it still applies. APHRO's 'colleague' has a Phd in computer science, so he's not daft.

A £2 takeover would suit me down to the ground - Bring it on!

Yet another problem today, ie the arrest of the Huawei CFO by the Americans for breaching Iran trade sanctions. It is a bit like Tim Cook being locked up by the Chinese. This of course is threatening to totally de-rail the US/China trade talks. No doubt, it is another of Trump's tricks.

Shorters may well be waiting for the vote in parliament next week when the deal is turned down. That will induce a massive drop in UK stocks.

There have been no reported changes in short positions for the last two weeks.
I find it hard to believe that not one single shorter on the list has made any transactions whatsoever during the past two weeks. They are either greedy or stupid.
Or reporting is dubious!

At least we are not alone in this present fallout. Our 'sister share' VRS is also at a worrying stage. After being up 7p to 127.5p this morning they were 6p down at close of play to 114p. They post results tomorrow morning, so it'll be interesting to see what happens there.

I hold no shares in VRS, but I know many IQE holders do. I wish them luck for tomorrow.

I hope WE don't have further pain tomorrow. Just when you think its safe to go go back in the water that shark comes back to bite us. GLA!

Well it did end up pretty bad. Interesting though that after a decent morning, relatively speaking, the afternoon buying was totally missing and the US traders were having a day off. It seems that the U.S. is where the buying comes from.

Maybe they will be out bargain hunting and spending twice as much tomorrow.

Good closing auction though, a couple of pence above the last few trades.
