Morning Wossupsa,

It's a rugby weekend so I shall not be reviewing said document until Sunday. With that said though and as much as I hate state this, if it is subject to a bear raid next week I shall attempt to participate as I suspect, eventually, value will shine through.
However, it is these types of shenanigans which lead a lot of retail investors to be put off longer term investments unless they can roll with the punches so to speak, having wide enough stops / are using proper position sizing so as not to damage their portfolio too much.

One min it's about iPhone X sales going to be highly disappointing and as a massive supplier in the chain IQE is doomed; the next sales are intra group and largely fictitious..hmm

I'll paraphrase"I've seen a report I don't understand and given my conclusion clearly haven't read and I'll waste everyone's time by posting an utterly inane and annoying post"

wossupsa, I agree and that's why I have shorted a large amount of iqe yesterday( very kind persistent buyer all friday, thanks very much ).We have seen this type of revenue related deception before many times on Aim. The establishment of ghost companies who rake up big losses whilst the parent company receives those losses as big revenue gains. Hats off to Matthew Earle to making us aware.
I'd imagine other shorters , like me, will eventually expect iqe to be back in the low teens rather than 80p you quote.

With the fall in the US yesterday post our close, iqe should naturally keep falling anyhow.
I see no reason why iqe will respond to these allegations on Monday as the share price has barely fallen yet .When it does , they will respond but I don't expect them to say anything yet.

Needless, to say, if I were holding Iqe, I'd be dumping my shares asap cos that report was quite damning .

Yes Monday might be pivotal as to where this is going. Sentiment seems to have turned against us for the moment.

Just read that research document, wow! That rather large short position seems to make a lot more sense now and I seriously doubt ~80p is their target price, its much lower than that!? I'll be staying well clear of this whilst this all plays out, Monday should be lively.

Simon Cawkwell,

"that Matthew Earl is anything but malicious. Also, he is extremely careful before publishing anything."

Let's review this paragraph above, you sound like a decent kind of chap, you know the kind who would stay within the rules of accepted practice, one who wouldn't want to be caught with their pants down so to speak.

The kind of guy who wouldn't break rules for any kind of personal gain...

Oh, but wait, a Wikipedia search in the public domain states this about YOU:

"He was forced to resign as a company director after he was found to have broken the rules of the AIM stock exchange by buying shares during a prohibited period.[3]"

Looks as though you aren't quite as honourable as you are attempting to come across as eh, dieter of the year.

kazoom,

As it happens, I am short of IQE.

However, would you not agree that alleging the deployment of innuendo without establishing its existence is a little pointless.

There is the further point: I ask that you accept (at least until you prove otherwise) that Matthew Earl is anything but malicious. Also, he is extremely careful before publishing anything. So, much as you may care to hint at taking a case to the FCA, it is inconceivable to me that you will have any effect.

I just checked IQE on IG Index and currently 21% of IG clients with trades on IQE are short on IQE.

After the last few weeks of reading the twaddle here from people who don't even know the absolute basics of any subject they post about - and that's just on the so far unfiltered posters - a quote springs to mind.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Bocase - looks like it was around lunchtime, so can’t count on it providing much support on Monday. We need a strong rebuttal @ 7am Monday, hopefully alongside some positive news flow. They must take a very proactive / aggressive approach to turn sentiment fast or the shorters will keep using every (underhand) trick in the book until they’ve achieved their exit price.

Yes that is good but was that announced post the 4.30 close or during trading hours?

Just trying to assess whether it will have any much needed positive impact on Monday.

Bocase, I don’t know what happens to them if you rent your shares. I suspect it is up to the sophisticated recipient... you get your fee, he/she gets to play

Troubling allegations when paired with the scale of shorting here even if Stig has disdain for the latest hat throwers, lol.

Hoverflyman:

We know that the short positions that represent over 0.5% of the issued shares total 12% but of the remaining we do not know what amount the total of the 0% to 0.5% are. It could be all of the remainder.

Are shares lent out and NOT immediately used for shorting? I don't know.

Apple down 4.4% tonight. Amazon up 3% so seems Appple results dissapointed. Chips hit so not looking too good for Monday. Probably just a correction but Monday will be important.

If 12% are in play by shorters with double that in reserve, a squeeze doesn’t seem imminent. Or do I totally misconstrue?

Bocase,

Only Debenhams has a higher figure, according to the FT.
