01/2/2018 15:22 | Lead time on 2800g4 is 9 months from aixtron | steve davies
01/2/2018 15:21 | steve, stick to snooker. | sheep_herder
01/2/2018 15:16 | Sell recommendation at IC in order that people sell and make it easy for the shorts to close, that's my view | jimmmy
01/2/2018 15:12 | Thanks. Only 79 minutes to go 🍷🍷 or 🥛🥛 ? | hammerd2
01/2/2018 15:11 | IQE are CURRENTLY installing 5 new MOCVD machines in Newport to ramp up VCSEL wafer production which is present at capacity levels, they haveALREADY ordered another 10 reactors from Aixtron , most of which will I presume be used for VCSELS These machines run 24/7 The DEMAND for VCSELS will not be satisfied by the supply side for at least 2 years ( listen to IQE’s competitors) I couldn’t give a monkeys about the width of a wafer, the number of VCSELS per wafer or whatever other ‘quantities and values others are guessing it, the simple fact is that for some time to come IQE will be selling every VCSEL wafer they can make- the key is the YIELD for me and we have evidence that IQE with their knowledge and experience of ‘tinkeringR IQE will be deriving a good price for these wafers, it’s simply good old Adam Smiths’s supply and demand scenario. It’s clear from the market reaction to Qorvo’s statement, that sometimes just sometimes they factor in huge growth markets 💰 and those that our second biggest customer provides for WILL utilise IQE’s CS wafers- in many varieties and flavours. I know I keep harping on about the potential of the RF filter market, but the prospects of wins there are mouth-watering, if you have the time or inclination read Qorvo’s comments on that matter 😎 Believe it or not , it’s NOT just about how many 3D sensing iPhones are sold, that will form just a fraction of earnings from VCSELS going forwards S | sweenoid
01/2/2018 15:10 | Someone is on a buying spree right now. Suspect the sky isn't going to fall in when Apple report. With AMS and Qorvo flying, time of maximum fear has now passed. | mad foetus
01/2/2018 15:09 | Somewhat smaller than .25mm | poombear
01/2/2018 15:02 | But how many VCSELS are there in an array such as used for 3D sensing? Answers all here | poombear
01/2/2018 14:59 | QRVO up 15% in the US | hyper ai
01/2/2018 14:58 | I have quoted approx min size for vcsel, depends on process used. Larger VCSELs are constructed by metal listing individual VCSELs into 2 D arrays | steve davies
01/2/2018 14:56 | And surely the smaller the VCSEL the larger the waste will be as a percentage of the whole? Also, how many wafers will they need for testing and developing prototypes etc? | mad foetus
01/2/2018 14:53 | steve davis - if every VCSEL was .25mm * .25mm, then yes, your maths might hold. | sheep_herder
01/2/2018 14:52 | steve davies 1 Feb '18 - 14:15 - 12269 of 12274 0 0 0 VCSEL die size approx .25mm * .25mm. 6 inch wafer is approx 28 sq inches, approx 18000 sq mms. No of gdpw (gross die per wafer) VCSELs per 6 inch wafer is approx 280,000. So not many wafers needed to satisfy VCSEL demand? | fardistanthills
01/2/2018 14:51 | Qorvo has taken another leg up. I've bought a few more here. It may fall further, but doesn't look likely to and the share price will surely be over 150 within 6 weeks. | mad foetus
01/2/2018 14:50 | Google says Apple results at 4pm ET, so 9pm here? | sabzahmed
01/2/2018 14:49 | It`s a shame that IC seem to have come day traders with a flotsam mentality. They used to search out long term value before commenting but alas no more. | arcadian
01/2/2018 14:42 | The first rule of IQE is to say nothing about your products.Seriously, with AMS and Qorvo reporting good results, IQE is looking mad cheap. Unless, of course, their results are good because we are selling the wafers to them much too cheaply.Tempted to top up with some of my sale proceeds from KWS. | mad foetus
01/2/2018 14:39 | With the share price falling from a high of plus 5.2p today to the present plus 1.2p, hammerd2 must be getting a bit concerned that he may not be getting stuck into a 'crate' of beaujolais at 16-30. | regasclockwork
01/2/2018 14:35 | Qvro up almost 12% now , need to catch up | grity
01/2/2018 14:34 | Not only are IQE exhibiting and saying nothing about their products, Finisar are there too and get publicity for this load of twaddle . . . https://compoundsemi | diplomat65
01/2/2018 14:25 | When do apple report? | tsmith2
01/2/2018 14:15 | VCSEL die size approx .25mm * .25mm. 6 inch wafer is approx 28 sq inches, approx 18000 sq mms. No of gdpw (gross die per wafer) VCSELs per 6 inch wafer is approx 280,000. No of die per wafer increases by square law as diameter increases. Above is approx figures, need to factor yield etc. 60% would be a good yield | steve davies
01/2/2018 12:49 | There was James but that was revenue per wafer (not really possible to know with the mix of types of wafer now) not about the possible VCSEL yield per wafer IIRC. | hammerd2
01/2/2018 12:31 | We've had grand old duke of York.. | tsmith2 |
