Fft if rhe report is right IQE would be 20p ny next week. Which it won't.

Its not possible for IQE to get away with that type of shennanigans. If they were trying that stuff it would have leaked and they would have lost all the supplier contracts way before we heard about it from someone Cakewell knows.

That stuff happens but not here. Also dont forget UK Gov is involved in the incubator. Any sniff of improprietry and this would be front page news of the telegraph which it is not.

Therefore IMHO it is libel

After the GBO debacle, I'd tread carefully before brushing off Simon Cawkwell et al. I'd be interested in hearing Paul Scott's take on the Shadowfall report.

Apple sells around 10 iPhones a second, mainly iPhone X

Apple is selling more iPhones and generating higher profits with each sale than ever before, the company has confirmed.

10 sales a second

iPhone sales hit 77.316 million units in Apple’s 91-day Q1 FY 2018 quarter. That compares with 78.29 million sales in the year-ago quarter.

You’d imagine those figures meant that sales shrank, but it’s not the case: Last year’s quarter extended over 98 days (14 weeks), while this year Apple saw a more traditional 91-day (13-week) quarter.

That means Apple sold around 849,600 iPhones every day in Q1 2018, in contrast to 798,877 iPhones it sold each day across Q1 2017. In other words, Apple is selling 10 iPhones every second of the day, at least, it was in Q1 2018.

Poombear. I studied my masters degree in finance (with thesis on derivative usage in a certain market). I then immediatley did my articles with KPMG auditing Mutual funds (which included some maddoff entities) and quite a few fisascos usually coveres in offshore alerts. I then went to work for BONY after leaving KPMG as an audit manager as a financial analyst. I worked my way up there and now work portfolio manage African PE fund (which has no bearing or transportability to aim investing) other than an understanding of company fundamentals. I can talk at lenght if you would like about Value at Risk Calculations, Barra Modelling of cost of capital, IFRS 7 disclosures of unlisted investments categories or my collegues who all lost their jobs under Gupta gate. But if I give you any more information you will figure out who I am which would not be proper and foolish.

None of this I will admit prepares me at all to know anything about IQE other than applying ones noggin.

By the way a lot of fund managers start off as charterd accountants from my side of the world.

Joel Stern of Stern Stewart EVA says its accountants that alloe people like him to make a living. By the way Stern Stewart EVA is a good metric to use if you are not a chartist.

Thecrunk. You say it is libel. Why ? Have you the analysis to say the accusations in the report are wrong ?I have no idea, I haven't done the research. But although you have a lot invested here, unless you have done the work, you don't know if what they say is right or wrong. Many people said that the muddy waters gbo short analysis was wrong, but it was proved to be right. Btw, I hope that iqe are better than gbo. But jv's are a grey area. Ask Enron !

Yes, Marshall Wace have reduced their short by just over 600,000 shares. They still have another 31.5m to buy back!

Pbutterworth what was your experience last time?

It appears these guys come it at the end of the shirt cycle when all else fails meaning existing shorters may have run out of powder and expected bad news is what I am thinking? So they bring in the cakewells?

You have to use the filter option against all the white noise and not keep looking at the bb’s and share price every minute to remain sane. I doubt IQE will come out and say anything meaningful earlier than March, because they have not made a habit of doing so. £1 has not fallen despite many attempts at it, but it will be a great buy below.

Luckily I dont have many shares left and given the massive share price rise even after recent fall I should think most here will still be in profit so unless price falls much further we shouldnt complain. Basically the share price just got way ahead of itself and the business seems to be doing more than ok.

Yes that is how I read it. They are saying rhey are short IQE (to issue any investment research they havr to disclose if they have a position in the company). To be honest what they are saying is libel and defamation (with intent to drive share price down) and IQE should sue them. Let alone the reputation damage they are trying to cause to the conpanies management, board and auditors in professional as well as personal capacities.

Can I just check what this paragraph means?

ShadowFall manages an alternative investment fund (the “fund”) which takes positions in traded securities. At the time of distribution of this investor letter and research report the fund holds short positions in the issuers.

Are the issuers IQE?

The letter, report, dossier - whatever one should call it - begins by opining:

"We conclude that at its current valuation that the market is pricing in stellar growth on the horizon. However, with what appear to be sizable competitive pressures developing within the wafer industry, in our view, stellar growth seems increasingly unlikely."

But then, instead of justifying such scepticism, or laying out specific reasons why such a statement should merit his reader's attention, the writer launches into some abstruse "analysis" of the company's historic intra-group accounting practices. The aim, transparently, is to traduce the reputation of the Board and undermine the business of the company. I'm sure that Drew Nelson will offer a robust response to this material.

You can tell when bears are working in concert..One after the other, especially if one trick doesn't work..Hopefully, IQE will put a short and sweet statement out on Monday and take opportunity to give us an unscheduled TU..

Bulltrapdt I don't beleive him. I am pivoting of this to try and teach IQE that they need more actavist PR to stop creating the petri dish where creatures like Cackwell can breed and multiply.

I want this to be a well learnt lesson for IQE to take care of their shareholders otherwise this is exactly what happens. The way I will do that is by taking what Cackwell and others are saying and completley blowing it up.

Its the only way IQE will learn in thr long run.

I am a chartered accountant by the way and know making paper profits is not that simple especially in the way that has been descibed here. And if there was its not decietful its fraudulent undisclosed related party transfer pricing. Which it is not.

OK chaps you are playing right into the dieter of the year's hands, by answering him and running around with your heads on fire; Yeap looking at you thecrunk.

As PB1 states this is how he and others operates, if you believe in the story ignore him if you don't sell, it's that simple. Doesn't effect me either way just that like PB1 I've seen this before so be careful and have a good weekend all. Cheers.
