Well my post of earlier received a lot more comments than I anticipated. But it's not about trying to second guess / remember what was or wasn't said at the AGM or what was or wasn't meant.

Joe Stalin has it right when he says that there will be monthly output figures. This is not rocket science – output will be recorded either daily, weekly or whatever; that's a simple fact. So just how difficult is it to convey these numbers?

(Agree with Madchick too. It's about consistency re known facts).

It makes more sense for any production reports to be at regular intervals - otherwise they could just report production whenever it happens to sound good and then forget reporting it when things aren't so great. The purpose is to show consistency, for now, so doing it irregularly defeats the object of the exercise.

I hope they aren't delaying because numbers are poor - that would be poor in more than one sense!

On the other hand, the share price is drifting down but not charging down, so it looks as if the market is pretty clueless either way .

"Regularly" means at set intervals. I don't think Iofina meant that. "Periodically" might have been closer to their meaning, ie "from time to time", without specifying actual time.

AGM - monthlies continue until production stabilised. On that basis would assume one more update also including info on plant hookup etc.

There may not be monthly RNS statements but there will certainly be monthly output figures. For the sake of consistent management information, it makes sense to use months rather than any other unit of time.

For that reason, I expect there to be monthly (or thereabouts) updates otherwise, "the Board will report regularly on production" does not make sense.

I thought the feedback from the agm was of the opinion that monthly updates will continue probably until the end of the year, then revert to quarterly production updates?

I agree,
at no point did IOF say they were going to do monthly updates at the start of each month.

However, I do expect a monthly update sometime soon for June, so I think they may have delayed to fit in some other piece of news?

Just a hunch, could be totally wrong, but maybe another plant commissioned might be close, maybe a new CEO, maybe something left field, maybe mobiles who knows...

I suspect they are also busy prepping for the water rights hearing, which must be imminent!

I think that you are wrong to expect monthly updates, IOF hasn't said that. In his 6 May RNS, Baller said " For the sake of transparency, the Board will report regularly on iodine production rates, whilst keeping mindful of competitive advantage.". The fact that IOF reported again a month later does not automatically mean that there will be monthly updates. Whilst you're all impatient and desperate for the share price to rise, it might be counterproductive for IOF to schedule monthly updates. Infrastructure projects rarely stick to plan: patience and a long term outlook is required for this one, we may be bumping along at 50p for a while yet.

Alphacharlie: also getting impatient. July 4th w/e should not be getting in the way.We need June figs and news on I05 and I06 for reassurance that we're not slipping into the bad old days of 2013.What are they playing at?

AoN - I don't subscribe to Thursdays being sacrosanct for RNSs but time will tell.

If you look at the history of IOF news releases you will find it is ususlly Thursdays....nothing 'woolly' about that imo! The long weekend off in USA is probably the reason for the lack of news on other companies too.

Part of my post of 11 June - 08:09 - 21941 of 22579, to do with updates as reported from the AGM:

. . . . BUT some very woolly management thinking going on here re production updates IMO. The notion that to 'cease' them at some future point to stop share price volatility is daft and will prove to be akin to shooting oneself in the foot.

Well no update so far this month of any sort re anything. Not good and likely to further rattle the current price IMO

Thanks Madchick. Good job I didn't chuck the computer!

I wasn't really saying much other than quietly I think IOF are pointing in the right direction. Q2 production figures should be around 100mt-around double Q1 and then we should be looking at a further 50mt rise in Q3.

Despite what some might say I think Iodine prices are firming for good quality product.

Also I expect costs per kg falling nicely as production increases.

The price entered Q2 at 50p and left it at the same price, however,I think it has left the period as a much lower risk investment with a stable underlying business starting to generate decent internal cashflow. In its own time the market will start to recognise this.

On the Indian iodine prices, I believe there may be a rebate component to some of those prices but I have to research that more.

I also believe that Indmin are well behind the curve on iodine prices, just as they were when prices were falling. They were very slow to catch on, there current comments would seem to be 60 days behind the current situation.

I personally don't think prices are falling any more, the weakness was a couple of months back and the fact that IOF mentioned $42 prices for recent sales would seem to confirm that.

DYOR.

mister big - not sure that it's short-termism. i think it's just that we're all bored non-millionaires wishing that IOF would give us something new to talk about! :-)

We've run out of steam so we've degenerated into poetry and pimms.

IMHO Pimms is best made with a shot of gin, though frankly I don't much care for it any way.

My current favourite, however, is the Crodino "16 Rum".

1 Bottle Crodino (10cl)
25ml Rum
25ml Martini Rosso
Slice of Lemon,
Ice

& if I'm being good, as it still tastes like a 'drink'

1 bottle Crodino
half slice (trimmed) orange
ice
