19/7/2014 11:34 | As stated recently it's suggested Bullmine have stopped mining and are just leaching out the remaining heaps they created. Maybe something is going on at RB Sirocco too as their share price took a dive recently after a steady price for some time. Bloggers suggest news Monday for them. In Q1 they show as having 800mt of inventory as they stopped supplying iodine. With no apparent contracts and going up against Cosayach in the cheap selling game I'm wondering if RB will suspend production altogether. They forecast 29 dollars opex but have never hit previous forecast opx. On the Alp they forecast low 30's and went 35,38, then 41. The vast majority of sqm's production will be on contract prices set a while back as will some others. The Algorta/Acf Minera set up must be suffering. I have them as around 5000 mt. The last Algorta update suggested 38 per kg costs. With all the apparent production drops a shortage should appear at some point. If end users get a sniff of such circs, they buy in bulk to get the low price, then compound the shortage problem. | ![]() superg1
19/7/2014 10:42 | Well the key point is that we are profitable at company level at $38... possibly even at $30-32 if it came down to it... so we ain't going bust.. and we can sit and wait for prices to turn upwards, which seems inevitable at some point in the next 12 months... Cosayach can't keep dumping forever and the rest of Chile must be borderline loss-making at $40 never mind lower...NAI | ![]() cyberbub
19/7/2014 09:59 | The July issue of Industrial Minerals report on Iodine prices is fairly downbeat. The main points being: Prices above $40/kg now 'virtually non-existent' save for low volume specialised product. Buyers interested at prices around $38/kg. However, some Japanese producers are trying to hold to $40/kg despite market pressure. Chinese market recently very quite. Prices below $38/kg rumoured in Asia due to dumping and not reflective of the wider market. 'Sources' still expect prices to fall further this year. -------------------- The July issue of Industrial Minerals also has a report on the closure of Cosayach's 38 illegal wells in the areas of Cala Cala and Negreiros in Tarapaca province. It contains little new information that we were not aware of, but it does conclude with comments to the effect that recent aggressive expansion by Cosayach has put downward pressure on iodine prices. Since we know Cosayach is a major supplier to the Asian market it seems to confirm, as we suspected, that Casayach is responsible for the low priced dumping in Asia. This may be reflected in the low import prices we have seen on the Indian market. | ![]() gadolinium
18/7/2014 21:34 | Che.I agree looks like someone hoovering any sellers quietly in the background. Next update in a couple of weeks or so should be positive. Production should be up and the two new plants should be operational and are meant to be better plants than IO 3&4. IO5 they said had no initial issues when they ran it 3 months ago. I thought we might have an RNS on the mini's but maybe we will only know about them shortly before they become operational since it has move beyond the concept stage and is purely about Iodine production and profitability now? Superg any ideas? | monty panesar

16/7/2014 14:21 | che7win, good memory, but let's forget the one from years ago!!! I did dabble a couple of months ago here and came away with a small profit but today's purchase is intended to be for a couple of years or so. Barriers to entry, steadily increasing production. Should only go one way over the next couple of years. Mind you I hope I remember to sell if it gets overheated again as it has in the past. Best regards SBP | ![]() stupidboypike
16/7/2014 13:39 | Chile port strikes AGAIN, can anyone find out if this is ongoing? Looks like it's finished but some disruption. 16/7/2014 12:48 | It was a 15000 buy, it went through at 38.75p instead of 48.75 and was cancelled in a couple of minutes. The timing of the trade was 11:55:29, I was watching because I bought just before it. The corrected 15000 buy is shown just after, someone with fat fingers. | ![]() che7win

16/7/2014 09:16 | Lithium Take over I see Rockwood are being taken over. Interestingly in the one report Tesla state they will source all of their lithium in North America. I recall SQM seeing an share price jump when Tesla factory news was announced, but they clearly won't be selling to Tesla. If Lithium Iodide breaks through on that front, hopefully they will seek to source all their iodine in North America too. The Japanese seem to be leading the lithium iodide battery research. | ![]() superg1
15/7/2014 20:00 | Engelo 3rd June as said at the time was just a water bureau box filler, they have to populate the box with a date. In fact just go onto the site delete the dates and info you don't like, add in things you do like, then screenshot it, it looks a whole lot better then. Sadly it won't save the info. In truth you have to get you legal side sorted, then make sure there is a suitable date when all are available, but then that has to fit in with available court dates. | ![]() superg1 |
