One engineer company offered 10 new jobs in the midlands recently, had 15,000 applicants.

Its an employer's market for the next couple of years, people don't wanna lose their jobs and compete at a job interview with 100 others for an inferior and lower paid role elsewhere.

As a matter of fact I know a BA employee who was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago, had many months off on full pay and was then taken back flying. And although 70+, it still is my day as an investor every bit as much as it is yours. However, thank you for taking my previous point. Listening to others makes you so much more credible.

Well point taken but being 70+ as you say things were different in your day now this company fires people with cancer I doubt if you experienced that in your old company. I still think rancid about sums them up though .

Totally agree but a fair wage not one with strings attached just look at the mixed fleet turnover rate of 30 per cent a year what a way to run a company oh sorry I mean a dictatorship.

It is rather fashionable for "woke" people like Applepie to condemn all other opinion out of hand and assume that it must come from those who work at "Waterside" head office. As a matter of fact I am 70+, worked in the airline industry (not BA)for 40 years and hold views fashioned by my long experience as an employee and as an investor. I disagree with Applepie's viewpoint but respect his/her right to hold it. Unfortunately, there is little hope of reciprocation. That is the world we live in, but it is rather tedious for normal people to have those who think their view is the only acceptable view perpetually screeching at the rest of us. I suspect that BA, its customers and its shareholders will be much better off when Applepie is no longer in the sky. PS. Try a thesaurus- there are words other than "vile" and "rancid" available.

Another example engineers are going with years of experience which can't be replaced. Only time will tell this brand is finished that's why so many gold card holders are switching to more ethical airlines.

Loyal staff suddenly thrown out of a job whilst the bank balance doesn't tell porkies yet it wants some to leave on statutory redundancy pay a cull of higher paid staff replaced by 19/20 year olds with little experience. Fire ? and rehire nothing else can be said

If that’s the case I better sell my BATS and IMB shares too as we all know smoking kills. Nonsense. We’re here to make money. And IAG still treats its staff relatively well given the state of the aviation market at the moment.

Watford......I am here to make money BUT not at any cost.
You it would appear, care nothing for how you make it, or whether other people are damaged in the process.

Ryanair...

Refund Update
We are making rapid progress in processing customer refunds for flights cancelled during the period from March to June as a result of Government imposed Covid-19 flight cancellations. Since the Ryanair Dublin offices reopened on 1 June last, additional refunds staff have been trained to eliminate the backlog of customer refund requests with the following results:

All March cash refund requests have now been cleared.
At the end of June, 50% of April cash refunds have been cleared.
By 15th July, the balance of April cash refunds will be processed.
By the end of July, all of May and most of June cash refunds will also be processed.

I have to agree with recent comments. We are on here to make money - all that concerns me is that the BOD make the right decisions to maximise shareholder value.I might sound cold but there are other people to worry about that side.I want as a bigger return for my money as I can get

Applepie you just don’t get that this is an investment forum. If things were run as you’d like IAG would never have been profitable and probably wouldn’t exist. I know the exact details of the pilot and cabin crew deals and aren’t gonna argue with you any more. I think you need to head over to mumsnet as your POV will be much better received there. You just sound a sad, bitter loser here with your daily IAG are vile comments. Grow up!

I pity your pathetic views I'd not want to be in your shoes when traveling on BA in the future and something goes wrong many medically trained staff like ex nurses have left leaving an inexperienced workforce going forward disillusioned beyond belief. Note the turnover rates was in the region of 30 per cent for mixed fleet crew says it all why will people stay when working for a rancid company who don't care about it's employees.

Well thanks for your communication courtesy of the BA spin machine over at Waterside or wherever it may be did t compose this over a latte with chums from the office. Try and educate yourself with the facts the pilots are taking temporary cuts not permanent ones as in other areas of the company. Fire and Rehire with threats of the staff travel taken away if they don't sign again something not put to the pilots. I could go on and on about all the things that make up the wage of cabin crew but you seem a little dim to understand. Maybe you need to be a bit less pro BA after all they will try and shaft you in the end perhaps you like that.

Willy Walsh has done a fantastic job for IAG and BA. Had he not tackled the many problems inherited from previous management, BA would have been toast in the new competitive climate. Trade unions holding the company to ransome and gaining remuneration packages for their members way in excess of the rest of the UK market was one of the primary problems. Of course, if you are used to earning £60k+ as cabin crew, you are going to be most resistant to any reduction, but when the rest of the industry and even cabin crew in your own airline are paid so much less for doing the same job, how can you expect management to continue the imbalance at a time of crisis, the like of which we have never seen before.

As a shareholder I shall be very sorry to see such a superb CEO go. Thank you Willy. Staff and shareholders owe you a great debt, even if many of the former do not realise it. Without you they would have been flying for Ryanair years ago.
