NY Boy. You funny :)
If the share issue goes through and doubles the number of shares on the market, to get back to 600p, they will have to double their market capital to what it was before, at the height of the markets.
Do you agree?

Best ignore the short term noise, if you are buying to hold for a full recovery in 2yrs +, there is nothing to be concerned about, the noise comes mainly from those that have no money to buy, gift from the gods imo but I have been saying that since 300p but I thought today I would add another chunk @166p. Will check back on progress next year

By the time the share issue is sorted, it will probably double the number of shares out there.
So any previous 600p price 6 months ago, will mean a 300p price in a few months will give the same market capital.
Looking at share price charts can be deceiving, look at market capital as a 2nd ref to know if the share price is cheap or it could be that there is just more shares out there.

Ironic that companies involved in moving people around are among the ones most heavily hit by the pandemic.

As a species, we are somewhat arrogant in our presumption that, because we've conquered major diseases in the past, it is always just a matter of time before we discover a cure for whatever. That still seems to be the view of many who haven't clicked that something has changed.

What's changed is that, every day, millions of people worldwide are travelling from one side of the globe to the other - mingling at each terminal and at each resort. That didn't happen a hundred years ago. Mass holiday plane travel only began 60 years ago. By developing wider and faster travel we have played into the hands of microorganisms that spread disease. We can now share diseases faster than we can develop cures or controls for them.

If we continue to mingle faster and faster (thanks to ever quicker planes/trains/ships) we make it harder and harder to create and test treatments in time to avoid being overtaken by whatever new disease comes next.

Covid-19 is a shot across the bows. Best regarded as a rehearsal. I've always regarded mankind's sense of superiority as ill placed; I can almost hear microorganisms chuckling as we gormlessly aid their master plan. ;-)

Why would IAG be looking to purchase another airline at this time ( no matter what the price ) when they are asking shareholders for additional funds to strengthen their balance sheet ?
Why would shareholders approve additional funding to buy air europa ???

Rights issues are bad news for shareholders you only have to look at MKS rights 185 pence share price now 95.76 pence

Please do your own research as always.

The results were bad, as expected....

More and more places are reintroducing lockdowns, so currently there's no end in sight..

The main concern is when will large numbers of customers feel confident to return to flying.. ie will businesses continue with video conferencing..

I think there will be another stock market crash as there are too many economic/political events, which are of concern, coming together over a very short period of time, ie potential problems over the next 6 months... Brexit, China aggression in India and South China Sea, US China trade wars, US Presidential election, EU-Turkey conflict.

The question is at what point the risks are factored into the price...

Everyone will have their own views on that one..

I think Walsh has lost all credibility .
Quote: 6th Feb
"The coronavirus epidemic will have a only a marginal impact on global travel demand and the airline industry is healthy enough to absorb any economic slowdown in China, the chief executive of Aer Lingus parent IAG said today. "

Sure, I may be wrong Canadian, let's see.
Until a vaccine is proven to work and is available then spiradic lockdowns are just going to be a feature of life, especially heading into autumn/winter.
Booking holidays and flights will just be too risky until then for a lot of peeps.
It will be min 6-12 months before any candidate vaccines pass the phase 3, if they do.

Could this be a case of kitchen sinking - surely things can only get better from here ? Is a potential double bottom forming ?
