AE,s announcement is good but won't touch the sides with IAG .
AA should be making an announcement today ? , if they give positive signal on future then IAG will clime if not I suspect it will drop.
Last night they were all down again stateside

Be it costs/demand or Iberia's management some positivity coming from Air Europa.

Hidalgo has announced, in the new Air Europa hangar at the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport, that the Globalia airline closed 2023 with a gross profit (ebitda) of 200 million. This is a record figure, higher than the 160 million in 2022. The company, added the president of Globalia, has 120 million in cash, “for a capital increase or to have peace of mind,” he advanced.

Air Europa, Hidalgo said, expects to earn more in 2024 than last year. “We have eliminated small fleets, we are going to increase 8 long-haul aircraft, we are going to grow on the routes we are on and we are going to open new ones,” he said. “It has to be the most positive exercise” in the company's history, he concluded.

Hidalgo also stated that Air Europa has reached an “optimal moment.” “I want to highlight how satisfied I am to have come this far with this company,” he said. “Air Europa started from scratch and little by little it grew; Today we transport more passengers with 20 fewer planes than in 2019,” he added. “Europe is at the pinnacle of efficiency,” he commented.

The president of Globalia asked IAG, if it ends up being the shareholder of Air Europa, to maintain the same roadmap because the airline “has a life of its own,” he highlighted.

I like Buffett - who doesn’t? Except his buys are reported the following quarter. Plenty can happen in between.

Buffett investing so thats def good enough for me. Great opportunity buy cheap right now. Ignore the headline grabbers and go with the business model. https://www.investors.com/news/airline-industry-news-and-stocks-to-watch-united-delta-american-southwest/

Intrigued why you think that ? They are down over 27 per cent for the year , have over 950 aircraft operating largely stateside with diff fuel hedge policy, different market competition, fare structure and cost base. Being part of one world is the only connection . Their results will give more of a guide for Delta as highly similar business models. Not IAG for me.

Thanks Whatsup. I have decided to wait for sub 130 before making a move on my “long investment”. Too much turbulence at the minute.

Just to add inflation was at 11 per cent in 2021 and now stands at 3.9 with CBI expecting it to be back to 2 by 2025. IAG huge investment announcement shows real confidence they have going forward.

and no 737-9 on order. Just 737-8 and 10 on order. Investing is personal so for me this stock is over 40 per cent up so been by far my best investment. In terms of predictions mine has always been related to long term ie over next two to three years almost certain to be way higher than where we are and by Q3 this year I still see this 180 plus. Short investors listen more to here and now headlines which is fair enough. Long just see a very sound brand and business making a very good recovery from covid and see that continuing.

BA released info that shows their top earning pilots are taking home best part of 250k a year. Fair amount of cash that.

Ticket prices go up and down depending on sales patterns. If sales fall below expectation price goes down and vice versa. They have programs which try to max out sales revenue.I was following some ticket prices to Alps in Feb half term. They started very high but had been edging down until last month so i jumped in. Lucky i did as they shot up again.
