Maybe you're right Mikey. Of course there's a much bigger driver at play here which to be honest I wish would eff off and let me get on with my life. But I'm going to make money any way I can. I don't hold most of these big companies in particularly high esteem from a moral standpoint. I certainly don't feel guilty especially when I'm just betting on the direction of a main index over which I have no control.

Dround....because it can be self fulfilling and help to drive a share price down.
A lot of these trades are algorithm driven which is also unhelpful.

But it is. Depends on the method to be honest. Most methods available to private investors are not really shorting. For example most private investors "short" through a spread betting platform. What's wrong with that?

dround ........I don't think shorting should be permitted, certainly not in this market.

Lol there's a big stimulus package coming from the US. Everything rose sharply towards open then collapsed immediately. 5th short from 5150 in less than a week! I've made thousands. In this range.

Ny Boy. Again with your unlimited pockets, buying more every time it rises a tad from a large dip.
You only surface here when markets go up a couple of percent but then AWOL during the large drops. Yawn.
Here you filled your boots all the way down to 400p where you said was a bargain???? If they had listened to you then they would need the current share price to at least double just to get their money back, just adding a 'DYOR' after your portfolio promotion here doesn't excuse you.

Prices are gifts from the Gods, apart from the big boys, no one else can see it.

I am accumulating these, and many other blue chips, especially BP GL, stay safe

Ham...already had this discussion.
GOV made an absolute mess of the banks and did not come out of it well.
I think that if they are concerned that Walsh or anyone else, will use the funds to pay divi's they really don't understand business at all.
This is about saving companies and employees.

GOV hasn't asked for any security when offering to pay 2500pm in employee wages , so why seek to take advantage of the airline situation, if they are ?

I tend to believe half of what I hear and none of what I read .

I guess the gov dont want to lend the money and see it spend badly, and things quickly go back to divis, bonuses and share buy backs, etc. They guided the banks decisions when they had a seat at the table, or their mere presence did.

ham......I don't see the issue here. Just lend on favourable commercial terms.
The problem arises if you are seeking to take advantage of the situation by trying to take stakes in airlines in exchange for financial help from GOV.

No tinned beans in my supermarket, e.g. black or kidney beans, etc. But plenty of good ol baked beans!
One thing which is amazing though, the amount of stock that appears back on the shelves in the morning.

Well I notice that supermarkets have withdrawn a lot of their special offers and increased prices on other items, so I guess freight companies will be doing the same.
Although I don't agree with it.

Former mob mate now working for DHL reckons air freight costs gone up 500-1000% since Jan 1, depending upon the route. It’s gone up to between $2.50-$10 per Kg depending upon what it is (some freight for example nasty chemicals cannot be carried with passengers).

Those African beans and fresh fruit won’t be cheap for much longer!
