I thought it was a great possibility as well spooky, i know the twic program will eventuality be bigger than the hspd-12 program, so an annoucement of an involvement in this project, would have a big impact of the s/p.
I feel now that they are usa government approved, i feel myid will be involved in most things in the usa.

ps IM glad the company, hasn,t realised any news in these markets. any news in these type of markets will be well over looked.

This could spread to other states as well.

TWO interesting bits.

In an effort to improve security and cooperation between federal, state and local first responders, about 200,000 first responders in the Washington, D.C., area will receive biometric smart cards beginning next year. The First Responder Partnership Initiative will include emergency personnel in D.C., plus Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland and Arlington, Fairfax and Prince William counties in Virginia. The initiative is funded by a $3.9 million grant from the Homeland Security Department and will be managed by the DHS's Office of National Capital Region Cooperation.

Interesting read.

VeriSign is the first vendor to receive its CMS certification using FIPS 201-compliant Shared Service Provider (SSP) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates. VeriSign is the only vendor that has both its SSP PKI and CMS on the GSA FIPS 201 Approved Product List.
FIPS 201 is a standard outlined in Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) that sets the requirements for a common identity credential for all Federal employees and contractors

lets hope, they win that 40 agencies contract, ( got to be strong favourites now)

It's more a case of different interpretations of FIPS 201 among the different agencies e.g. one card failed for being the wrong shade of blue. There are multiple elements involved, only a few of which are directly related to the CMS. I remember the GSA saying they expected the early cards to need testing several times before everything passed. It will mean the HSPD-12 issuance won't ramp up until later this year but IGP had already said that was the case at the time of the interims.

MyID® PIV is the First Card Management System Certified under GSA FIPS 201 Evaluation Program,

GSA has been testing since January. As cards fell short of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Federal Information Processing Standard-201, the Office of Management and Budget asked agencies to resubmit cards for further analysis.

GSA is testing the electronic personalization of the cards, which includes the encoding of the Personal Identity Verification data model on the integrated circuit chip. This will ensure an electronic exchange of data occurs between reader and card.

It also will look at the data objects on the cards, such as demographic data, fingerprint templates, facial data and the card holders' unique identifiers, David Temoshok, GSA's director of identity policy and management in the Office of Governmentwide Policy, said at a recent event on Capitol Hill.

GSA was one of the few agencies to have its cards fully certified in October, said Steven Kempf, acting deputy assistant commissioner for IT Services in GSA's Federal Acquisition Service. This means the 40 agencies that GSA supports through its Managed Service Office also are compliant.

No expert but i believe this is the reason why IGP have market leadership re
HSPD-12. The delay does not effect IGP but it may lead to more contract wins.
This is the strength of the IGP proposition and the reason more contracts will
be won and the reason to be holding shares all imo of course.

MyID® PIV is the First Card Management System Certified under GSA FIPS 201 Evaluation Program

In order to comply with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), US Federal Government Agencies must purchase products that have been approved by GSA and that are listed on the approved products list. MyID® PIV is the first Card Management System (CMS) to be certified for Electronic Personalization and listed on the GSA FIPS 201 approved products list.

LOOKING AT the date of the cards october, it could be the early contract, with the one that involves actividentity which involves about 500,000 cards, thats having the problems.
it may be worth emailing the company, on this issue.

Thanks for that Pork belly - very interesting. Does that imply a significant delay in revenues to IGP if there is a delay in issuing the cards?
I wonder whether this issue affects IGP contracts..the article refers to 'interoperability' problems - I thought that was the strength of the igp proposition.
Best wishes to all holders

Interesting comments, i take more of a positive view. I see this security market being a high growth business area. the usa government are pumping billions of $ into this area ,igp i think have a special product which will benefit from the billions that are pumped into it.
with it also being usa government approved it opens the door for lots of other opportunities in the usa.

taurus i agree with your first comments, let the picture develop, but i can see alot of these tech companies, that have gone though the hard times, coming good and start showing some decent profits.

"i,ve always had a 2-5 year view on aim stocks."

Yes, but it depends when that 2-5 years is up! I've had IBG shares for 2.5 years now, nearly a 7-bagger. Should I take the money? No way Hose, you look at the picture as it develops, and as things stand I see IBG as 30% undervalued now let alone in a year's time!

Okay, enough of the ramping.

IGP is the smallest of my 4 holdings. It is the only unprofitable company amongst my meagre, but very profitable, portfolio. I take the view that, even though the IGP share price may only move significantly once or twice a year, the odds seem to be that that/those rises will tend to be up, based on any anecdotal evidence that I can find.

I don't like, or care about, getting too much non-financial information about a company, as I think it clouds judgement. You only have to look at the 'dotcom bubble' to see what I'm getting at. Also, I'm not interested in 'playing chicken'.

People who do that don't have a credible defence, IMO. There are no end of examples, but let's take MOB and PRTY as two of the more recent.

So, is it TWIC next month that's supposed to drive IGP higher? I don't know. All I know is that the company seems to have a good foothold in the digital security market. I don't know much about any competition, which can spring up from anywhere, at any time.

Put it this way. When was the last time you heard of a security firm making it big, profit-wise? Forget Baltimore Technologies, it was a good runner at the time, but all hype. Ncipher are no great shakes, they had more money than sense.

So why should IGP be any different. Is software not a commoditised industry?

Happy to hold at these levels, but need to see more evidence of concrete revenues to hold above a quid (if it gets there).

Okay, go on, crucify me! :0)

june always a good time, to pick up bargains after the may sell-off. i,ve been talking to a chairman of a company, i,m looking at. looks very promising and has no competition.( its going to be a massive growth story.)

should be igp news out in march. could see £1 soon.

Agency officials expect to make an award to a single vendor late in the second quarter of fiscal 2007, which ends March 31, or early in the third quarter, said Michel Kareis, director of GSA's HSPD 12 program.

ps have some funds ready for june, i,ve found two cracking companies who i expect to rise over 1000% with-in 5 years. i,ll let you know, once i,m in.
