Clearly the Oracle announcement was made to coincide with the opening of the RSA conference. Looking at igoe's link above, it's clear a lot more of the big players are attending this year including, as keynote speaker, Larry Elison of Oracle to herald their big push into security. Oracle are obviously aware of Intercede's importance given they quoted Parris as a partner at the launch of their middleware product.

Building on what spooky said earlier about IGP being unlikely to be independent in 1-2 years time, it seems to me that Oracle should now be up there as a likely acquiror.

Well, that pretty much doubles their potential market given the relative oracle and microsoft database market shares. Impressive stuff.

carly, they said in December they had received orders greater than last year's revenues (2.1mm) but didn't say they would all be recognised in H2 (due to possible contract delays and revenue recognition). Project timing is completely out of their control and as we've learnt over time, projects of these magnitude are far more likely to have a slower implementation than initially predicted.

The forecast (which for IGP is nothing more really than a very rough estimate) is for a loss of 70k which implies H2 profits of 200k which, with costs running at about 1.5-1.6mm per half seems about right, depending on how much they've had to spend in the US working on HSPD-12 contracts.

To me it's pretty irrelevant (cashflow aside) as this is the lull before the storm. HSPD-12 is unlikely to ramp up issuance until the second half of 2007 with most of it occurring in H1 2008 as the October deadline approaches. Also the US aerospace contractor and the top 4 US bank deals should kick off in 2007 and 2008 respectively plus Verisign, RSA, Safenet and Cybertrust marketing should start having an effect.

igoe, I think there are only about 80 proper federal agencies.

BELL ID seem a company of the past now. apart from an involvement in canada.
they jumped the gun, in the usa and failed to be usa government approved. unlike igp who are involved with 25 out of the 26 agencies, so far.
i except more positive news in the coming months.

here you go pyman.

things seem very quite for them on the RNS front.

APHRODITES - Let me make myself clear here. The company does not currently need to raise capital.Would they prefer to have a couple of million in the bank, yes,do they currently need it,no.They do not want to dilute their equity holding in the business, you can read into that what you wish. They will not go into debt to fund the business for a variety of reasons.

If business continues to ramp up then in 6 or 12 months this may change. These are the facts at this moment in time, the only room for debate is in the interpretation of the word 'need'.

Hi all,
Very interesting points so far today. WJ, you mentioned that you thought H2 would be break even - I had hoped that with the interims saying that orders in the first 3 months of the new year were around those of the full year (ie £2m) and that they expected further orders to have closed by the year end, that there would be a profit of between £0.5m and £1m subject to delays as you mention. Is your view based on a word with the company ? I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes to all

rambutan, I'm afraid that's one of the things you have to get used to as an IGP investor.

Look at the big US aerospace contractor. They've been working on that with pilots and trials for 2+ years. Hopefully it will roll out properly this year but when you have x00,000 employees and y00 offices worldwide and are spending z0 million on converged logical and physical access because of the highly sensitive nature of your work, that's how long it takes to ensure you get it right.

On the upside, it's meant the share price has gone nowhere for years allowing us to build significant stakes in IGP before the market really notices.

thanks for the replies, i was prob just struck by a bit of late night pessimissm bought on by frustration with management at another micro cap software co i hold. as wj says, the management have proven skin flint/survival credentials and also a decent chunk of the equity.

one thing that had struck me reading the recent interim report was this...

5. Additional 200,000 MyID licenses sold to Gemalto in support of a large
European Public Sector employer, bringing the total number of MyIDlicenses
deployed by this end customer to 500,000 - Intercede's largest single
deployment to date.

in the 2006 finals they'd said that they'd granted myid licenses to enable the issue of more than 1m smart cards. so, the above customer accounts for a big % of licenses. i had hoped that by now some other projects from the last few years would have started to kick in significantly, but the impression i get is that things have moved v slowly on some fronts.

of course, the belief is that hspd-12 stuff will kick in fairly quickly and equally importantly will be the catalyst to really kick things off globally, and as this happens igp HAS to be a prime beneficiary.

as wj notes, given this situation it's remarkable in some ways that igp's mkt cap is so titchy - i wonder what it would be valued at if it was coming to mkt now? how much would it cost to replicate their position/franchise?

so, the big friday question is - are we prophets or pumkin heads!
