06/12/2006 10:03 | A case in point NJP :-) Demonstrates the verification parts of MyID which is the advantage they have over Bell which is just a card issuance system. Intercede and Partners Secure Key NATO Summit with Smart Card-based Identities Lutterworth, Leicestershire, December 6th, 2006 - Intercede are pleased to announce that Intercede's MyID system was used to manage the identities of 8,000 diplomats, conference delegation members, Latvian and NATO supporting units, security personnel and volunteers at the NATO Summit in Riga, 27-29 November, 2006. This solution was primed by Oberthur Card Systems and delivered to the Ministry of Defence of Latvia in partnership with Intercede and Fargo. Intercede provided a complete system to personalise, issue and verify Oberthur smart card-based identity cards at this major international event. Each Oberthur smart card was colour-coded according to role and security clearance, printed with a photograph of the card holder, secured with holograms and other security printing features to prevent forgery, and the electronic chip was personalized to enable secure cardholder verification. A compelling aspect of the solution was the ability to both request batches of smart cards from Oberthur's centralized card production service and to also securely produce locally personalized cards on Fargo desktop printers. This enabled the bulk production of cards ordered in advance and an on-demand issuance capability for late registrations from the same system. Key features of the system include: The MyID registration workstations were smart card protected to prevent the issuance of cards by unauthorized people Bulk data import of card requests into MyID from other systems Immediate face-to-face issuance of emergency replacement cards Instant identity card verification at up to 20 NATO Summit buildings and checkpoints using MyID card validation stations. Each verification station was securely connected to the MyID verification server using secure channels over the public internet. In a press conference held on 29 November 2006, NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, praised the Latvian Government for their flawless organization of the Riga Summit. Intercede is proud to be associated with this success. "With 26 Heads of State in attendance, conference security was of paramount concern. I am therefore delighted that the Latvian Government chose Intercede and our partners to provide a critical piece of the security infrastructure for this event," said Richard Parris, Chairman and Chief Executive, Intercede. "Following our recently announced successes in the US Federal market, this demanding project further demonstrates that Intercede's MyID smart card and identity management system has the flexibility and scalability to meet the most critical government security requirements." About the 2006 NATO Summit The Riga Summit of 2006 attracted key NATO heads of State including George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Riga Summit of 2006 was the first summit involving Latvia as a full member of the NATO Alliance, reference . | ![]() wjccghcc

05/12/2006 12:05 | jailbird - yes. The UK government has made it clear they want to put together existing and well-proven products for the ID card system rather than doing a big-bang from scratch (not surprising given the recent NHS debacle). MyID is one of only two or three solutions which has been proved to work well in large scaleable smart card projects, is the only british solution, is widely used in the UK government/police and has high level UK contacts. Personally, I reckon their chances of being involved are better than 1 in 3. | ![]() wjccghcc

05/12/2006 08:40 | jailbird, they've teamed up with Oberthur so as to build a national ID demonstrator providiing an all-UK solution. But they'll also be offering MyID seperate from an Oberthur solution. Bit like HSPD-12 where they offered MyID standalone as well in the form of RSA Card Manager and as part of the Verisign SSP. MyID is used quite widely in several Government departments, the Met, and the British Library. | ![]() wjccghcc

04/12/2006 09:38 | my thoughts are that igp is in a unique situation. its the only true independent in the field. all the others are much larger cos and compete with each other in different areas/contracts. igp is just a pure play on the cms and can get into bed with them all. the big boys benefit from that situation ie having a true neutral to buy a much needed piece of kit off, and igp obviously benefits from being the no brainer choice for them all. it's a lovely situation. | ![]() rambutan2

04/12/2006 08:19 | porky, In europe, probably Actividentity for healthcare and Bell ID for large scale projects although theirs is only a card issuance system whereas MyID is does the credential management as well. In the US, Actividentity is substantially bigger e.g. provides a CMS used by the DOD etc.. However they also provide middleware which competes with the likes of Safenet, Verisign, RSA etc. which is why they've partnered with IGP. Interesting to see that of the announced HSPD-12 agency awards, IGP got 6 to Actividentity's 1. Bell was in bed with Gemalto for the GSA SSP contract but that's now being recompeted/split up. Otherwise, there are numerous more basic card issuance systems (usually for IT access only) trying to move up the value chain by tacking on physical access. However the complexity of any ID/smart card project includes interfacing with products from 10+ producers, interfacing with the existing IDMS and other databases etc.. means that they're not very useful except for low end implementations. That's why only Intercede, Actividentity and Bell were approved by the GSA for US government use as opposed to the 7+ systems rejected. | ![]() wjccghcc
04/12/2006 06:27 | COULD BE A GOOD YEAR IN 2008. FOR IGP. this could involve over 300 million people, with been approved by the usa government, we are in a great position to benefit To little fanfare, something called the Real ID Act became law in May 2005. The legislation, designed to take effect in 2008, authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to come up with standard features required for all drivers' licences and for ID cards for non-drivers. People would be forced to show these cards for any federally controlled procedure, like passing through airport security, taking Amtrak, or entering a federal courthouse. These ID cards are to include digital photographs and machine-readable data elements like fingerprints or retinal scans. State databases would be linked to one another. | ![]() igoe104
03/12/2006 18:56 | WJCC, I am doing a little more research on IGP ahead of the results. To this end, may i ask you who are IGP's main rivals in: a...the UK B...the USA your opinion would be much appreciated. cheers, porky | pork belly

03/12/2006 12:50 | I don't think there's any Intercede involvement or impact. Basically Microsoft are trying to push the .NET smartcards vs the current predominant java smartcards by incorporating recognition and basic usage capabilities for the Gemalto .NET products into Vista. This will only really be useful for SMEs who want to move from the shaky password authentication IT security to a smartcard 2 factor authentication without having to purchase extra software. The kind of smartcard implementations that MyID is used for tend to be significantly more complex. That's why only 4 card management/certifica Happy to be proved wrong though. Suggest you ring up Ian Lowe at Intercede and ask him. | ![]() wjccghcc
