Its a funny old game. A lot of my other stocks have been tipped and ramped and ramped and tipped to get a 20% rise. This one issues one RNS and does it in one day.

Latest UK Stock Market News

Other gainers included Intercede Group PLC, 6 pence firmer at 35 after saying its security division RSA has been selected by the US Environment Protection Agency to provide the smart card component for the implementation of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 which covers the provision of ID for all federal employees and contractors.

The software and computer services firm said in a release 'it is too early in the process to ascertain the financial implications of this project', but estimated that almost 8 mln identity cards will be issued under HSPD-12.

ps and more contract wins, this is going to keep going up and up. and very soon.

Okay I'm pretty happy but AFX seems to have got a bit too carried away:

"Intercede selected by US govt to supply smart cards for all federal staff IDs"

I expect the shares to follow a path similar to that of Indigovision post 2003.

Nice.

Immediate revenue benefit will be nil in that RSA is paying $2mm over 3 years which is redeemable against a set number of cards issued. Once this level is exceeded, then there will be further payment on a per card basis. The EPA has 19000 employees + not sure how many outside contractors they use who will also need a PIV card.

Having said that, it's the first PIV card manager contract I've seen and should bode well for the future.

Congratulations to all at Intercede :-)

I tend to get more stress from my girlfriend than intercede spooky. don,t think it will be to long before, this starts taking off, with us being approved now, i,m expecting some positive, rns,s soon about government contracts in the coming-weeks, i also expect us to pick up more than 3-5 million cards, with their being up to 16 million government workers and contractors, and with us being by far the best, in our field, i,m expecting to pick up at least 10 million cards. if we only make £1 a card profit, it will still make a big impact on the s/p, plus being usa government approved on our cv, it will look good, when going for other smart/id card contracts.

more about microsoft, and on-line smart cards.

ps. their is a write up, about intercede, on the consortium web site, link is in the header.

Thanks for that WJ and Domestos.
I still can't work out whether it will be a screaming buy when they announce the contract - or whether the price will just wait for the later income to be evidenced before it rises..
Best wishes to all

No problems carly. Likely short-term financial impact from the Fips work is negligible IMHO. The directive states all agencies must start issuing PIV cards by Oct 27th, but if each agency issues just one card they've fulfilled their immediate obligation. Issuance will then ramp up over the next 12-18 months which is when IGP will start to see the benefits of any contracts since they are usually renumerated on a license per card issued basis but it can take 6-9 months for them to book the revenue since they work through the integrators. However, over the next few years, you're looking at 3-5 million PIV cards ultimately being issued since it applies to all federal employees and contractors and that will be a company maker should IGP win a significant proportion.

You're right that they are incurring costs upfront for Fips work and integrating/supporting MyID with their partners - employee numbers rose 20% in H2 last year although this will be offset by $1mm advance fees from channel partners. Does this mean they'll meet profit forecasts this year? Frankly I have no idea and I'm not too concerned. I don't think the profit forecast is anything but an indication while they're still dependent on the larger lumpy contracts. I suppose some impatient holders will sell in that case and we'll get another dip but for me it's a 3 year hold.

igoe, thanks for all the articles. The cpi card is very interesting - it's nice to know MyID PIV is the the only card management system mentioned.

I see Safenet's HSM was validated on 5/10 for Fips which is good for the consortium.

Igoe/ WJ - thanks again for both of your posts...
Do either of you have any idea as to the value of the income if igp were to get the contract for part of the Fips work? Is this the contract which would make the company - or would the company need to secure much bigger contracts to keep it going?
I've been a holder for some time now - but the accounts have never given any indication of igps potential slice of the cake on this contract. In addition, is the company likely to have incurred substantial costs on the fips work resulting in profit forecasts not being met for the year (but then with profits in later years)?
As the company only has a mkt cap of around £10m, why hasn't it been bought out if it is such a good business with huge potential?
Sorry, I don't mean to be a worrier - but I just wonder what the future really holds with this one. Thanks for any input

carly2
