SafeNet K3 Card for Luna HSMs Receives FIPS 201 Approval for Cryptographic Modules
Certification Makes Luna HSMs First to Become HSPD-12 Compliant

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced that the company's K3 card has received Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 certification for cryptographic modules. The K3 card, a component in SafeNet's Luna Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), is the first cryptographic module certified for FIPS 201, making it the first HSM to be certified Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) compliant. HSPD-12 is an executive mandate requiring that all federal employees and contractors use a smartcard as identification badges for physical access and logical access to IT resources.

YEP. I,M expecting more positive annoucements, on amercian government contracts, any day now, i,ve said it many times in the past, i expect this will be over £2 by 2007 year end, the sector is going to have huge worldwide growth, because of worldwide security problems, if with get involved in some way in the amercian id card possible rollout, which involves 280 million people, you could be seeing quite a few millionaires on this board.

another example of FIPS 201-capable products/services

you have to be pre-qualified (like igp is) to benefit from the 2006-2007 contract procurement programme:

Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration Chooses ActivIdentity FIPS-201 Smart Card Solution to Increase Airport Security

ActivIdentity Helps TSA to Digitally Authenticate IDs of Critical Security Personnel Charged With Protecting the Nation's Vital Transportation System

/....

The rapidly approaching October 27, 2006 deadline for HSPD-12 mandates government agencies to deploy FIPS 201-certified Personal Identity Verification (PIV) smart identification cards, which incorporate identity assurance and strong authentication practices utilizing PKI and biometric fingerprint credentials on a single cryptographic smart card for increased security of both facility and network access.

yump,

with 27 Oct being a key date and the IGP chairman and chief executive Richard Parris. saying "We look forward to further wins in the coming weeks," in the sharecast article, dated 09 Oct 06, i think 50p will be broken next week.

Its a nice symmetrical rise now after what must have been partly a markup. Looks like 50p is going to be the 'natural' barrier it always is ?

Obviously in a new era for the share price though - broken straight out of the previous long standing range in one go (well 2 i suppose)

advfn data is wrong. 34mm shares in issue = 16mm mkt cap at 47p.

Intercede wins US Government contract
Mon 09 Oct 2006

IGP - Intercede Group

Software & Computer Services 472 -0.53%

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Intercede equaled its 12-month high in early deals today after the smart card management provider announced its first contract win in the US Federal Government market.

The company said that RSA, the security division of EMC, has announced that RSA Card Manager has been selected by the US Environment Protection Agency to provide the smart card management component for the implementation of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12).

RSA Card Manager is powered by Intercede's MyID technology under an OEM licence agreement announced in 2005.

HSPD-12 was issued by President Bush in August 2004 and required, firstly, the creation of an official federal standard for personal identity verification (PIV).

This would prescribe technologies and processes for the effective vetting and access control of all federal employees and contractors.

The second requirement was for every US Federal Agency to have implemented a PIV solution by the end of October this year, with all employees and contractors required to have a personal-201 compliant, smart card based identity card one year later.

Each of these cards will be issued and managed using a management system such as MyID.

"Although it is too early in the process to ascertain the financial implications of this project, this first win provides grounds for optimism that Intercede will achieve further successes via RSA and other partners with bids to provide technology for smart cards to be issued to other US Federal Agencies," said the group.

"It is estimated that almost 8m identity cards will be issued under HSPD-12. Industry analysts Stanford Group estimate the total value of the programme to be worth approximately $1.3bn."

"We look forward to further wins in the coming weeks," said chairman and chief executive Richard Parris.

The next 12 months might not lead to as much revenue as some may think, as the US agencies don't implement fully for another year, and there are delay periods on any other announcements before they get full revenue. So the next few months may see more expectation than actual historic earnings to support the price. I see this as a 2- or 3-year hold, as others have said, unless any nasty surprises come up, or the share price gets well ahead of itself... :0)

looking ahead, OCT 27 is a key date too

Intercede's partners and US Federal Government agencies can immediately start using MyID PIV to comply with FIPS 201 and meet the October 27, 2006 deadline for issuing PIV cards and credentials.

Spooky - I like to invest in business which have three revenue streams for the same product. These are sales of the product, maintenance/Support and consultancy. With IGP I determined you get all three. With this type of business it is easy to build scale once the market starts to move and having done alot of research last night decided it was time to dip my toe in. Now whether I have got my timing right time will tell but on a 12 month timeframe I think this will be an exiting ride.

low P/E

Intercede recently won a contract from the US Environmental Agency to supply software for its new smart card system. Intercede looks well placed to pick up more contracts with other US agencies on the back of this initial win. The company's shares currently trade on an earnings multiple for the year to the end of March 2007 of just 12.8. Buy says the Telegraph.

Definitely a bit spiky. This will take 2-3 years to demonstrate its true potential IMHO so I'd rather it settle at a more reasonable level and build a solid base. 40p would be a nice support to establish.
