Thanks Garth, let's hope it's in the print version of the FT as well.

It's always hard to predict next days movements after a 46% rise, but all things considering, I think we are more likely to see more gains than a retracement. Over the medium to long term the only way is up though, I am sure.

Intercede to beat expectations
By Phillip Stafford

Published: February 15 2008 02:00 | Last updated: February 15 2008 02:00

Shares in Intercede, which develops software for ID cards, rose 46 per cent as it forecast it would exceed expectations following contract wins with the UK and US governments.

Andrew Darley, an analyst at KBC Peel Hunt, Intercede's broker, said: "With the combined value of existing and new contract wins equivalent to several times the level of current revenue, it is all a question of the customers' decisions regarding timing of roll-outs."

The shares rose 11½p to 36½p. Phillip Stafford

Medica 2007: smartcard lows and EPR highs

21 Nov 2007

Although there was good news for medical smartcard projects at the trade fair Medica 2007 in Düsseldorf, doctors critical of IT developments managed to attract more media attention than ever.

But it was not all about cards: vendors of electronic patient records have turned surprisingly optimistic too. And there was a real rising star: the new boss of iSoft, Gary Cohen, made his debut.

The opening address to Medica in terms of health IT belonged to T-Systems this year. On the first day of the show, the Frankfurt-based IT infrastructure solutions vendor announced that it has won the bidding for one of the core components of the German national e-health-infrastructure, the national backbone network.

The initial duration of the contract will be five years, with an option for another five years afterwards. The contract volume is unknown. But a cost-benefit analysis of Booz Allen Hamilton in 2005 calculated for this part of the infrastructure costs of up to 69 million Euros for a five year term. "We have succeeded in winning a core project within the national infrastructure project, and we are well prepared for future biddings," said the head of the global healthcare business of T-Systems, Hubert Haag.

For T-Systems, this news was indeed important because the company has not managed to get a major contract from health insurance companies for the smart card production so far. Instead, G&D, Orga and Gemalto succeeded in this field. Rumours go that a number of multinational bidders withdrew from the backbone bidding because the German national health IT organisation, gematik, demanded unlimited liability. This, again, was not confirmed officially.

I,m sure there will be more RNS coming out over the next few months anyway, more details on that eurpoean (german) healthcard - how much of an involvement we will have. more details of that 1 million uk project, plus hopefully news on alot more projects, im expecting to be involved in.

with over 300k worth of trades today, with 95% being buys, i,m surpised to see they have had that amount of stock.

I think todays rise has also taken it out of the downward trend line of 2007 so if we can stay above that we should start a new upward trend line for 2008....I think the management will be more upbeat now as well with the reaction to todays news. Hopefully they will increase the newsflow in 2008 and not keep us waiting for months with nothing. Once a month is a minimum and will keep things ticking over.....

Prefer if the company had release 4 separate RNS's than one big one....makes for steady rises other than big jumps every now and again. Steady rises attract more buyers long term.

I think its the case of waiting on more details on that one, at least the company is starting to win big contracts outside the usa. so many projects at the moment, up for grabs. yemen id cards, saudi border cards, on-line news with oracle hopefully soon, and being involved with daon worldwide projects.

Regarding the healthcare project, it may well be T-Systems in Germany who are doing the backbone network for the German e-healthcare cards. However, it could be for one of the major healthcare providers (and not the whole scheme) since I think each is doing their own interoperable card (a bit like HSPD-12 and the federal agencies). Good news either way.

T-Systems and Germany's e-health smartcard project
Date: 01/02/2008

Traditional telecommunication companies are heavily involved in European e-health- markets. In the UK BT is a key supplier behind the multi-billion English NHS IT programme, and T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom's IT and business networking division, is equally committed.

Hubert Haag, head of the international healthcare business at T-Systems, told E-Health Europe that with 12,000 European healthcare customers T-Systems is a leading player when it comes to e-health solutions in Europe.

T-Systems and Germany's e-health smartcard project

And in perhaps its most significant e-health project yet T-Systems recently won the contract for the national backbone network within the German smartcard project.

EHE: Can you go into more detail about the role T-Systems will play in the project's future?

Hubert Haag: "It is clear that we were very happy about this success, and I have to say that this was a must win for us. It is a five year contract with the national health IT organisation Gematik, with an option for further five years afterwards.

"The backbone network will be one of the central components of the smartcard infrastructure as soon as it becomes an online system. Still, this was only one bid, and the success does not mean that we are in any better or worse position for other bids than we were before.

"As a telecommunication company, T-Systems does not only offer networking solutions, but also security and identification services for health IT applications. We have customised electronic patient record solutions in the portfolio. We have our own Trust Centre and, last but not least, we offer smartcard solutions of all kinds both for medical professionals ('health professional cards') and for the insurants ('elektronische Gesundheitskarte', electronic health card). All this runs separately."

EHE: Things did not run entirely smoothly for T-Systems in the German smartcard project during 2007. The company was unsuccessful in a series of bids for the provision of smartcards to three major German health insurers.

Hubert Haag: "True. There were different reasons for that which I do not want to comment on in this context. But, it lies in the nature of bids that one company does not win all of them. We try to look at it positively: these contracts were for about 40 to 50% of the German market for electronic health cards. This means that another 50 per cent has not been allocated so far. We are prepared."

T-Systems pan-European operations

EHE: What are the key markets for T-Systems regarding e-health solutions?

Hubert Haag: "Our home base lies in Germany, obviously. We are strong in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, and South Africa. And we have some customers in Eastern Europe. It is always difficult for us to provide numbers for market shares, because we have such a broad spectrum of solutions that we offer. All in all we have about 12,000 customers in healthcare in these countries.

"This includes health insurance companies that use our IP platforms, care facilities or hospitals that use RFID solutions, digital mail administration, digital archiving solutions and so on. When we are talking about health-IT in a stricter sense, we are the market leader in hospital networking solutions in Austria and one of the market leaders in Germany. We also have a series of interesting telemedicine installations in Spain, and we offer hospital information systems in Europe but also in the Middle East."

Igoe, yes the german Health card deal is mind boggling and could be what turns IGP into a £50m+ mkt cap company. I didnt think IGP were big enough for the German health care ID Card project but with today's news it could be possible. Still we dont know for sure that we have got it as gemalto use Bell ID but today suggests IGP have some involvement....

Nice to see more posters here as well, new ones and old. the IGP fundamentals never changed when the share price was going down and hopefully it will only continue upwards from here on....

And the fact that the UK government has given IGP the 3 yr contract for the foreign nationals ID Card is all but said it will also get the UKID card.....then this company will be many many more times what it is now.

Could only buy in 5,000 chunks. Most of those buys are mine. Picked up 72,500. Will acculumate more over the next day or so but the liquidity is poor to say the least. This should get good coverage tomorrow so I expect to see 50p before long, then more gains back to 70p where it was before.

Amplifying slightly my previous post 1375 - some pretty amazing figures appear.
Assuming annualised revenue run rate double that of the interim £1.6m and multiplying that by "several" (six times?), then a figure of £19m appears. Deduct expenses, largely admin which at twice those of the interim would be perhaps £3m and other minor adjustments, then one is looking at a pre-tax profit of maybe £14m with the caveat that this would be spread over the life of the existing contracts. This equates to the current market capitalisation. My figures are obviously highly speculative mand take no responsibility whatsoever for them but we seem to be looking at a stock with a p/e of well under two.

They can delay trades exceeding NMS.

Now, I said earlier that I thought 40p by the end of the week was realistic.. Perhaps that needs revising :0)

For some reason, the Market Makers very often delay reporting a lot of IGP trades. So there should be more volume showing up later.
