Too cheap with the market leading positions in maritime and now heading for the same in aviation comms. There will be good growth in maritime markets with the fleet safety solution replacing the normal gmdss set up I think the analysts have missed this completely maritime is the largest market for isat. This was the reason of the fall to start with the lack of growth in maritime.

No one thinking that there is a ew found strength in the isat share price are the hedges closing this 5% short positions. I think we have a buyer accumulating stock and building a position as certainly swimming against the tide today.

If the shorts had any knowledge on this story they would shift their attention to suppliers of GMDSS equipment and not isat .

Hopefully we will see growth in maritime markets with the new fleet safety product this will remove costs for ship owners for the installation of gmdss equipment and I will say savings on annual service and survey requirements. Also we can expect decent aviation growth as the first quarter advised of 39% this growth will continue as advised. So the end of this year will see the share price significantly improved. I have topped up a good few with the above in mind.

wad collector - I am down roughly the same. It is frustrating as they were once one of my best shares. How long before all this 'in flight connectivity' starts to pay off, I have not the slightest idea, definately years, I did think maybe by this time next year but it might be 2020 or even 2021 grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

European Aviation Network (EAN)is a purpose-built system for in-flight communications.Uptake of this service is ahead of projections. Looking to get EAN up and running in June. Should be very lucrative going forward. Good luck all.

Chancer, I wouldn’t hold your breath on ‘secret government contracts’. Incidentally what is EAN?

So the UK Government nurtures a business over many years and then floats the company at around the 275p level.Senior management make a killing on the floatation. The shares climb to over ten pounds but subsequently plummet on a variety of concerns.Management exacerbate their unpopularity by trying to pass remuneration resolutions that are voted down. The senior management are advised to go private disenfranchising their irritated institutional shareholders.I don't think that's going to happen in a month of Sundays. If an entrepreneur ( like an Alan Sugar who built up Amstrad)took a company private, fair enough. However,in a sense, a number of senior management here have been fortunate enough to be in situ when a quasi government body has been floated on the exchange and they have done a fairly mediocre job running the company since. They'll be no privatisation here.

The key words that are being used in the "know" do not favour Inmarsat hence the current high levels of continued short positions. No matter what is being said, it boils down to the readers digest version as follows: Struggling, loss of monopoly, 10 year low, complacent, old technology, high debt, overtaken by newer rivals, takeover rumours (but no offers) and Ligado future. These are not my words and although it is easy to cut and run at a loss, surely EAN could be a future positive and maybe more secretive Government contracts in the waiting. Who knows ?

The below is from Jan 2018. Inmarsat share price was 528p. Private equity funds must certainly have Inmarsat in their sights now. Just a matter of time before an offer comes imo RBC refreshed its longstanding theory that Inmarsat is a bid target with an argument that private equity funds could be interested. “Now could be the perfect time to take Inmarsat private,” the broker told clients. “Our leveraged buyout model suggests an internal rate of return of around 60 per cent on undemanding assumptions.” The buyout makes sense now because Inmarsat’s enterprise value is near a 10-year low versus earnings, which reflect an estimated $70m of start-up losses at its in-flight broadband business that will swing into a $44m profit after five years, so the exit should be highly profitable, RBC argued. Its team also highlighted a long history of private equity involvement in the satellite industry, whose high barriers to entry and strong cash generation appeals to buyout funds, as well as recent share purchases by Inmarsat management. RBC last year championed the idea that Inmarsat would be a good fit for Dish Network, the US pay-TV broadcaster, or its sister company EchoStar. The shares, which are down 25 per cent over the past 12 months, bounced 4.9 per cent to 528.8p.
