Boon,Bradwell,
I can see that you two are getting into the panto season spirit early;Im sure that the kiddies will thoroughly enjoy your debut as Cinderella`s sisters.Boon may I just ask you to caution Bradwell in regards to his humour-it is rather lavatorial and may offend some members of the audiance...however Im sure youll go down a storm onceyou have a word in his ear.
Thankyou for your kind offer of a traipse with you around your station and a spin on your appliance-id have much prefered a go on the fire engine instead but thanks for the offer anyway!
As regards your attempts at being a ametuer sleuth-youre way off the mark;my mobility is more than adequate thankyou - and I have no need for dependence on state handouts nor should I ever want to claim any-(I leave that to the fire service).
Goodluck with the panto,(dressing up in ladies garments again eh...what are you like!)
You didnt inform me which fire shop you were picketing so Im a little non plussed as to where to send the food parcels.
Have a super strike and a happy new year.
yuletide greetings,
Jack Levi.

Jack

Your fan club is growing apace, you really are endearing yourself to people.

And it seems that some of my profile of you must be close to reality, as you haven't contested any of it. You're also giving away too much information about yourself, you mention the old Melton tunics and black helmets, that really does date you.

I don't think that you will have to 'come down' (Yorkshire?) to visit me on the picket line, as I think we will hear news from the Government today, but if I'm wrong, and you would like to pay a visit, you can spend a little of your disability benefit and get a train 'down' or do you have a motability subsadised car? Either way you'll get a warm welcome, I can show you round the appliance, and if you're really good I'll let you put the two tones on.

See you soon

Boneyed,
Im pleased that youve found the grace to admit that that there are places where intoxicating liquor is sold on fire stations(albeit in what you now prefer to call social clubs, that is most likely a tax dodge dreamed up by that shop steward of yours).
As regards my visiting Sparkys transvestite firemen site,I felt as a public spirited tax payer I ought to see what exactly you firemen got up to at the tax payers expense.I can assure you it was not the most pleasent experiance of my life.On reflection I would suggest that you help your co -conspiritor to get counselling, the mere sight of him adorned in ladies apparall had me feeling billious and very uncomfortable.
I remember the day when firemen wore black serge with chrome buttons and black matching helmets-very manly, nowadays its a buff pink two piece with a plastic lemon hat;it tells a story does that....probably at the bequest of that shop steward of yours....he also has a penchant for velcro!
Thank you for your concern for my insurance premiums,I really couldnt give a damn if they double or treble-as long as I dont have to see your lot shinning up ladders in clothing from a Evans shop.
Doubtless when (if) this strike does eventually get under way youll be stood on the picket lines, you must inform me where you will be at so I can call down with soup bones and veg..Im not one to see you without at the festive time.
regards jack Levi.

Kingfish,
youre quite right they shouldnt have to go to the government for handouts...I can see that youre on the side of the right thinking public who have the persperscasity to see through this attempt at blackmail by the firemen.Well done sir you are to be applauded for your insight.

Why should anyone work 40 hour week and then have to go to the Government for handouts?,income support etc.The majority working in our esential services would be unable to qualify for a mortgage on a basic house...good luck to the firemen.

Bars on Fire Stations closed some years ago, though some retain Social Club bars for use whilst off duty.

So Jack your wrong again.

What is the story with you? you're obviously a mature poster, you're a Northerner, a widower, have lots of time on your hands, a retired public servant or perhaps a you took early redundancy?, you're bitter and twisted and you enjoy looking at transvestite Firefighters in ill fitting clobber.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....very interesting (one for Zuke there!)

You really do need to get out more, or would that be difficult without your hired help?

Here's a tip, watch the news tomorrow, your increased premiums may have been all for nothing.

There will be a lot more than 38 people for every Firemans job if the stuff in this thread becomes public knowledge.
I'm not sure but your allowed to apply at any age under 35 to the brigade I recall.
Having worked in a office for years after university, totalling it all up with my debts and normal work expenses I am far worse on my stressed out to the eyeballs, office politicing £35K 'highly paid' job in a insecure industry than some joe who joined the fire brigade at 20 and has guaranteed employment.

I fear I will be doddering around washing Joe's windows on his many properties for my future in 20 years, as pensions are nothing but a scam if you do not have a final salary scheme.

It seems you relax most of the time while 'on the job', in between extending your quality of life keeping fit and fighting blazes and dealing with the public. Beat's backstabbing and meetings in a office getting fat.

I believe that statisically I have more chance of dying on my journey around the motorway than being a firefighter, okey, it's prob down to the training. I also believe there will be a extended market crash and unemployment is set to rise steeply - meaning a secure job is more valuable than a high flying job.

How do I join you boys?
Can you post me a link on how to apply? Looked up the FBU site and its noticeably absent.

Hour for hour far more people die on building sites than die in the "Fire Service" People who use the rail network or drivie to work, risk their lives every day!

The hero hod carriers that risk their lives builing the houses we fear may burn down some time in the future, don't get sick pay, don't get holiday pay, work all day long, have short term contracts, don't get a BIG funeral if they die on the job, don't get paid when it's raining, don't get paid for playing pool, don't get to put out a burning bin once a month, don't get to ride in a big shiney red fire engine and toot their horns at married women that happen to be walking down the street, they don't have indexed linked pensions, they don't get 30k a year but deserve it more than a bunch of so called deserving firefighters playing of the heroics of the NYFD.

If our Firefighters deserve 30k who doesn't?

PS of course Firemen sleep, play games, cook, watch telly etc, on duty. It's a perk of the job like the indexed pensions good redundancy terms overtime and compensation schemes, and it's the poor old tax payer, including the disabled and aged that have to foot the bill!!!

The Bars are probably part of a social club which can be used when off duty. I also can't believe the malicious rumours that fire man are allowed to sleep or play games when on duty (other than unpaid lunch breaks etc.)
