What complete rot.

"Firefighters I know have 2,3, up to 7 houses"........Tosh

My cats blacker than your cat!

Lots of people have lots of things, lots of people have very little, the Firefighters that you refer to could not buy housing estates, spend half the year abroad and have a fleet of Mercs paid for by Firefighters wages, they probably run porn sites on the internet or had very rich (missus under the patio) relatives or they have probably won the lottery.

Get a grip.

Boneyed,
youre at it again telling stories-you get more like that sparky every day...of course you were in the army..you and sparky-Britains last hope.
The proper teminology for your illness is multi personality disorder, one day your a fireman and the next day a secret service operative in her majestys forces. One friend of mine disappeared for twenty years....he was found on a book shelf in the local library-he thought he was a first edition of war and peace.
Im reaching a conclusion that you arnt really a fireman at all;what are you really - a security guard perhaps or maybe a night watchman.
It matters not to me....just as long as your fantasies keep you amused.
Keep taking the largactal-and keep in touch with yourself.
Jax Levi.

Bonehead,
you really are a lost cause fighting for a lost cause and youre quite obviously suffering delusions of grandure....You and your fellow firemen are not in the armed forces - you are civilians that are paid to put out fires and do other sorts of manual labour. If you were members of the armed forces you would have been shot for desertion and mutiny...and good enough too.
The prison screws were just the same, always wanted to be seen as soldiers..some of those buffoons even slashed the peaks of their hats to look like guardsmen. No Bonehead - sorry to have to bring you back down to earth but youre just a run of the mill civvy.
Would you lot please hurry up and actually get on strike instead of just talking about it - (all talk and no action just whistle blowing and chants). The supermarket lads love it when you lot strike, they get double pay for fire cover-nice to see the boot on the other foot.
All the best - chocolate soldier,
jack Levi.

Ahh....
That's what I like to see, another civvy showing his ignorance.

The changes to working practices are coming anyway, everyone knows that, it's a matter of fact due to the European Unions' working time directive and other factors.

A Firefighter works 42 hours per week, it just so happens that they work half of their shift throughout the night. Anyone can have a second job, all you have to do is work during your time off.

If you have a 9 to 5 job you can work nights or weekends, what's the difference?

The difference is that you probably don't need to work more than one job, as the one you have probably pays you an exorbitant wage.

Its such a crack being a average fireman with a '2nd career' for christs sake -I was only pointing out how one man has used all that time - others are photographers, cabbies, joiners, sparks, plumbers etc... How many other workers can do that?

The boneheaded fools who represent you seroiusly think they are doing themselves a favour in striking over Nov fireworks. LOL!

They are serving themselves up on platter.

Long overdue changes in work practices will happen on any raise.

Why do you think the service has not had a pay rise for so long? 'cause it's such a cracking scam anyway!

Fantastic..........this is more like it, stimulating comment from highly informed individuals.

Do you really think that one man making oodles of money by posting filth on the internet will hurt the Firefighters cause, after all, the rubbish you post has only stregthened their claim.

By the way, you spelt my name wrong.

Sparky,

A sad day indeed, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, I'm sure his workmates will rally around .....

Jaxaxe, today is not the day to post about the FF dispute.

Sparky.......if you know who boonyed is, have a word with him, I think he has lost sight of the importance of well being above all......

Take care

Brain clamp,
my sentiments entirely,..they will go the same way as the prison officers of the POA-anothr bunch of idiots that thought that they could hold the country to ransom. They used to claim boat loads of overtime-get paid for weekends out when visiting the baily and always took the customary perk of six weeeks per year sick leave....just as the firemen do.These fools should realise that they are not indespensible-theres a waiting list for firemen a mile long;Id be in like a shot if I was younger - its money for old rope.
THE fbu are due for a big shock when new work practises are implimented and theyre moved from piller to post-as they should be,theyve had it too good for too long.

It seems highly likely to me that Andy Gillchrist will do for the firemen what Scargill did for the miners.
With a huge queue of 38 people for every firemans job it's well known that it's a crack, and you have plenty of time to spare on your hands even on shift, nevermind the off shift time in comparision to any other job's out there.
How would you feel if you had to slog similar hours to the average UK worker in less secure employment who cannot persue 'second careers'?

This 30K blackmailing attempt in the worse season for fires is will open the way for the government to change the whole working practices of the brigade.

About time too.

My local brigade has been in the news recently for topping up their saleries by getting thier mates in the other watch to phone in fake incidents off shift, so they could be called out and stand around doin' nowt to collect the overtime thus topping their average saleries to £30K anyway. What a scam.

Sparky,
thank you for your kind comments,Im sure that in the not too distant future you and a great many of your friends will have lots of free time on their hands(perhaps almost as much as when youre supposedly working.)I would suggest that your time would be better spent at adult literacy classes than fantasising about punching my lights out....you would be most welcome to try...bring some friends,I could do with a short workout.
Keep in touch with your self.
Jax.

As far as I am aware no members of the fire service have ever been cannonised-theyre just ordinary people doing an ordinary job-not a special case:At least they wernt until they got ideas above their station and started blacmailing the government for this exhorbitant pay demand. If the wage is so bad why not leave and grt a better paid job like other workers do-instead of whinging and causing meyhem. They wont leave because the simple truth is that the job is a cushy number...Sparky said it rather like working for the AA with a bit of ladder work thrown in....nothing special....apart from the perks that is.
And before someone says its highly dangerous, the job of fire men is way down on the list of dangerous jobs....beneath farm workers and pit workers-and those guys arnt whinging about their pay which is considerably worse than the-sleep on the job-good pension firemen:
