Analysts at Bernstein said in a recent note that current European airline capacity was “well below its pre-pandemic growth path”, forecasting a 15 to 20 per cent shortfall in seats compared with demand.

“The real issue is that we think there is a lot more demand than what we are able to deliver,” said Váradi.

EasyJet said it had been filling two planes a minute during its busiest booking periods since the start of this year, while Ryanair said this week that bookings were about 5 per cent higher than at the same time last year, and prices were up “by a low single-digit percentage’.

EasyJet said prices were “well ahead” of the same time last year, while Wizz Air also pointed to strong fares.

“We see positive booking momentum for summer 2024 with travel remaining a priority for consumers,” said easyJet boss Johan Lundgren.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the share price consolidate above £6 in the near term.
The rerate is well established and will in my opinion continue for another 12 months on trend. That will exceed £8 in my opinion over the remainder of this year. Obviously everything hangs on a couple of months summer performance.

Yes, I don't know why they bother coming up with these targets when they are only reducing it be 10p. I would understand if it was by 10-20%....

JPMorgan cuts easyJet price target to 680 (690) pence - 'overweight'

Just 680p then. Overweight so somewhere between a hold and buy. Doesn't make a lot of sense with a target 120p above the current.

In our February corporate performance review for 12 hotels across Southern Europe it's very clear that summer 24 will be the biggest since 2019 and will possibly exceed that level. 3 of the hotels are now contracted to easyjet holidays with a capacity of 30 rooms. This matches the Jet2 capacity, both are majority populated from the second week in May through to September.
We are 14% ahead of last year at this time and have 90+% occupancy forward sold from Easter.
In Spain and Malta it's majority UK and Germany sales. In Italy it's France and Germany. Clearly the skies will be very busy this year.

Last week just before the ex div. there were 2x£4M purchase UT, so I'm not too surprised at the £7M sale.

However back in the real world. The sector is booming. All will be recording record growth and easyJet will do very well.

As other person states people are not investing in U.K. companies.

The only positive I see from the FTSE promotion is that it clearly underlines the improvement in fortunes from really dead in the water during COVID to solid profit last year into the expectation of substantial profit this year. This creates some noise and some publicity.

Personally I don't think going back into the FTSE 100 is such a big deal. Sure it's credible etc etc but our pension funds don't buy anything in the UK these days anyway. Nice ride this am though. IAG up as well so must be some favourable airline news in the wind.

noramping when you don't you lose any credibility attached to an anonymous board. If you start thinking that any post including yours has any credibility then you are not understanding the dynamic of these boards.
Your cognitive bias is negative, you only see doom. That's how you post. I don't think that the sky will fall, the world will end or anything else negative and random will destroy our world. When it does I will assess that change. I will wait to see the evidence before making any decisions.
However noramping you and I are insignificant. I have 52000 shares here and no fear until I see something to fear.

Going back into the ft100 should do well, manybwill start to buybagain for pensions.
