seems to me that Crawshaw are:
1 trying to appeal to a different audience that are more receptive to social media

2 following examples from other food retailers eg restaurant chains ....but perhaps not tried by your average butcher before

I am not a social media addict but I suspect the messages being sent by Crawshaw are typical of normal communication style used - agree it feels cringeworthy.

My guess is that Crawshaw are first trying to create a dialogue, and then use this channel to research customer attitudes and test new products.

David, that was the point of the original post (3879); nothing drastic just to keep things nice and simple.

The point you make re the number of weekly shoppers is very salient; folk like decent stuff at decent prices, hence, the numbers - ie no rocket science or gimmicks involved. The company shouldn't need to lower itself with insincere bluff on social media.

Yes but it will put people off if they do it wrong - at least two of us have felt that. Anyway as you say hopefully they will learn. Some pre Brexit vote selling? Could be an opportunity if this continues.

For goodness sake don't discourage them it's taken them years to get the ball rolling on social media, so let them find their feet. My advice is if they monitor Greggs and the like this will help them generate some ideas and the appropriate approach on engagement. I don't see anything too wrong with what they are doing at the moment.

Totally agree mcmather - I've noticed that also, it's cringeworthy and they get absolutely zero responses or re-tweets. They need to stop it pronto.

After a recent visit from @foodgov we are proud that our #Derby store have been given a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating! :)

It's the first time Derby has been awarded 5 stars
