Bolton store was ticking over nicely before. Food to go was busy but of interest was that the meat side of things was equally busy; most seemed to be buying in 'bulk' re the spend £10 get 50% free.

Crawshaws to create 18 jobs with new £250k Blackburn store and our doors open next Wednesday

I note R.R is stepping down at AO so he may take a more active role here, but probably best to resist such temptation and allow Noel to continue ploughing his own field without distractions.

The 'new' website is keeping all informed - both from today:

"The shop fitters are now busy in our Cannock store, so it wont be long until we are open!"

"Our Derby store is the only site to benefit from an internal seating area which has just been given a fantastic makeover!"

playful, think they have been listening to you as this promotion has been further extended:

In celebration of butcher Crawshaws launching its new Food To Go Butcher’s Kitchen, its Worksop and Retford stores has teamed up with the Guardian in the search for someone who goes that extra mile every Sunday.

Food to go is increasing nicely as a percentage of Crawshaws sales and even more so at the new stores. Margins are much better too.

I think the Feb update last year was due to the fact they needed to inform the market they would beat market forecasts, so unless they repeat such noteworthy achievements I’d not expect to hear anything at the moment.

Just coming back to reality really and waiting for fundamentals to catch up.
I take on board David when comparing Greggs to Craw but for me it's still ahead of itself with each store valuation too high, obviously as more are opened this will come down so I expect the share price to reach a level between the two.

OK Greggs does have less profitability per store but you can open a Greggs just about anywhere, Craw are really your town center shop with little scope on motorway services, stations, airports, industrial estates.
Subway have also started to open into the same sort of areas as Greggs so I do take this as competition for Greggs which will obviously dent profits.

Craws competition are mainly other butchers and supermarkets. It's funny how people have switched back to your local butcher from the large supermarkets. The huge Tesco near me is nearly always quiet now.
When buying meat people always look for how clean the shops looks, this is paramount for me and if craw keep going the same way with the same standards I see the doing very well.
Friendly staff are also a must, who wants a miserable git serving you. I'm sure miserable shop assistants will drive people away, whether it's subliminal or not I have noticed myself not wanting to go to a certain Greggs due to miserable people behind the counter.

Just thought that the same pattern as last year would take place i.e 24th February .

Why do they need a trading update if they said this with three weeks to go to the year end in the last update ?

The Board therefore anticipates that the full year results ended 31st January 2016 will be in line with market expectations.

Could be.

The second comment posted: "Environmental health would have a great time inspecting this shop"; The following restaurants, cafes and other eateries have been awarded THREE STARS in Derby City Council's latest inspections. •Crawshaw's Butchers, Intu Derby;

When you click the other links, no businesses appear to have a better standard in the Derby area...

Re "I haven't bought meat from there and wouldn't it's a disgusting place"; the key there, of course, being the "I haven't bought from there".

Re "the front of the shop is wide open too which is hardly hygienic"; see above re the Derby shop.

I suspect the same Playful, I'm not sure who else would make such generic sweeping remarks (an unhappy customer would surely comment on a specific product they had bought and were unhappy with)

She is actually an Area Manager and seems to be strong on promoting the shop openings, probably the best marketing I’ve seen them do.

They will bounce back once the TU is announced so no need to worry, just perhaps general market malaise at the moment towards anything on a frothy multiple.

Be interesting to find out who is disposing; this has been pretty steady now for the past 10-14 days.

I wondered whether they might have timed the upgrade of the website to be done just in advance of the TS.

Should hear soon enough.
