Butchery chain Crawshaw defied the winter floods across its Northern heartlands with a credible Christmas performance.

RNS on 19th Nov, Arrowgrass dropped to 6,672,500 shares

RNS on 2nd Dec, Credit Suisse notified an "obligation to return" 6,672,500 shares - but I don't know what one of these is!! Anyone able to enlighten me?

RNS on 8th Dec, Credit Suisse passed 5%, but lacking any numbers.....

Trades at 13.10 today, all at 86p :

The total is v close to the "Living Bridge" holding - never heard of Living Bridge.....

My guess would be that either Arrograss are now out (maybe via Credit Suisse), or Living Bridge are out.

Not sure this helps a lot!

Total group sales were up 64% in the 15 week period versus the prior year

It should be noted that three of the latest openings were in mid November so only actually contributed sales for half of the 15 week period

I think the new stores are probably doing better sales numbers already per square foot than the older mature stores which is great news.

Upbeat trading u[date released this morning.
Trading Update
Crawshaw Group Plc ("Crawshaw", the "Company" or the "Group"), the fresh meat and food-to-go retailer, provides the following update on trading for the 15 week period since our last update on 29th September 2015 to the 3rd January 2016.

Total group sales were up 64% in the 15 week period versus the prior year, and are up 52% year to date. Like-for-like sales for the same period were up 0.8% versus the prior year, and are up 1.7% year to date.

The sales growth has been converted well with cash gross margin increasing by 65% in the 15 week period versus the prior year, and 55% year to date. This has been supported by the gross margin strengthening by 80 basis points over the same year to date period.

The Board therefore anticipates that the full year results ended 31st January 2016 will be in line with market expectations.

Chief Executive Officer, Noel Collett, comments:
"We are delighted to be able to report such strong sales performance as our growth strategy continues to rapidly enhance sales and profitability. Our growth plan is progressing very well and is on track with an increase of 17 stores for the current financial year taking our portfolio to 39 stores. We are also pleased with the positive like-for-like performance in our mature stores, particularly given the disruption and challenging high street footfall patterns caused by the prolonged adverse weather conditions in the North of England. Clearly our growth is very exciting for the business and we look to the next financial year with energy and confidence".

The recent share price decline presumably reflects concerns that sales might be dented by floods in so many northern towns and villages, reducing footfall, and by floods at farms supplying meat. The fact that they've made any LfL gain at all in those circumstances is encouraging.

The next two stores to open will be Birchwood and Blackburn if any of you live nearby.

I did not have a chance to fit in the Butchers slot on the SmallCap radio show this week but lots about the north and all the flooding so hopefully none of our shops have been affected.

Collected my Christmas hamper this morning from our Bramley shop which was busy with everyone collecting meat orders. I thought it a nice touch the shop advertising mentioned the managers name, makes it all the more personable the same thing you get with independent butchers.

Settling down now with some of our pork pie and gone with the wind

az4hr....these charts should not be taken as market indicators on a daily basis and a single digit percentage drop from the high point is only to be expected at some stage after a near tripling of the share price after NC came on board as the CEO.

You need to relax as this is a ten year roll out story and the first stage is not even complete but the number of stores has already doubled this year. Just enjoy.

A nice mention in this piece about Sheffield Moor market

Yes I'd be frustrated too if my shares were down 'nearly 15%' when in the market they were actually only down 8% from all time high. Hopefully you will get an abacus for Xmas.
