26/3/2014 01:12 | It's possibly difficult to form a firm view from the photos, but to me the new black & white branding looks a significant improvement on the traditional green & white. The up-close photo of the shop front looks excellent. The more distant shot does make the shop front look poorly illuminated, but that may just be an issue with exposure. The busy wordy posters or panelling, near the entrance also look good to me. Lots of simple short phrase ideas for shoppers, not yet clear on what they might be looking for, and very easy to see and read at the entrance. Great positioning between Subway and Greggs. | briangeeee
25/3/2014 22:19 | Oh yes its black & white. I suspect this had been reserved for the small hot & go outlets but with one shop already in the market sporting the traditional Crawshaw branding it was thought this was worth a go. | playful
25/3/2014 19:41 | Agreed the signage looks like it needs some illumination to lift it and compete with the other stores. That black and white poster work just inside the shop looks a wee bit too busy and screams a bit for my liking too ! Unless the light is dim and playing tricks it looks like the traditional Crawshaw colours have changed too. | davidosh
25/3/2014 18:43 | Very good report playful, it certainly looks to be a more modern design. Great to see all those customers. | battlebus2
25/3/2014 18:35 | I visited the new shop in Sheffield today which is situated on "The Moor" a main pedestrianised high street in Sheffield city centre. The weather could have been better but on the whole the high street seemed busy enough. On approaching the shop I immediately noticed we have a Greggs and Subway as our immediate neighbours, so we must feel confident in our product to challenge the competition but on the plus side the location seems established as a food on the go destination, so this is not necessarily a bad thing. The next thing to hit me (not literally) was the signage, which was not our regular branding but much more understated and refined. My only suggestion is that we try and increase the brightness as I thought the sign needed stronger lighting as both Greggs & Subway are highly visible from a distance. Walking inside the shop felt very inviting and encouraged a natural flow of customers all of whom were browsing comfortably in a good amount of floor space as you can see from the pictures. The counters on the left were all filled with a wide variety of mix and match offers but also some surprising additions such as the ingredients for a sausage casserole all in one pack which I hadn't seen before. The Shop is open plan allowing customers to see what's going on in the cutting and preparation areas which certainly provides good theatre and adds to the atmosphere. The counters on the right provided the hot food range and displayed our sandwiches very well. Also, we had some attractive point of sale material and well-designed too. I was shown upstairs which consists of a staff area a very big room and two offices and I would suggest you could easily provide a hot desk facility for the marketing people here without any problem so they could be much closer to the shop floor. The staff all seemed friendly and enthusiastic and I understand a good response was received when positions were initially advertised. | playful

22/3/2014 08:44 | By all reports it seems to be going well. Tweet from co...We opened the doors to our brand new shop on The Moor in Sheffield. Had a great start, plenty of customers and positive comments. Moor local independents The popularity of independent butchers continues to gather pace in Sheffield, with Crawshaws set to launch a new store on The Moor tomorrow. Friday's opening closely follows the group's new meat counter one of around a dozen in the new Moor Market. Crawshaws MD Kevin Boyd said: "I remember when The Moor was the place to shop in the city centre and believe it will be again... For years the 'big four' supermarkets have met demand but it's clear that buying habits are evolving as shopping budgets become tighter." | battlebus2
22/3/2014 08:35 | Any news from the new Sheffield store that opened yesterday ? | davidosh
21/3/2014 16:17 | Great finish to the week here also, seems everywhere but BYOT :( | battlebus2
21/3/2014 09:16 | So it appears you have ten bagged already .....well done davidosh hence your handle I take it!!......very competitive game selling meat.up this end of the woods (north east) theres loads of them and I very much doubt crawshaws would get a look in.For instance in the grainger market at Newcastle theres stacks of them and where I go to (George Bolams) at Sedgefield theres no one to touch him and at Christmas there were over a 1000 people outside his place waiting for him to open up. He slaughters beast twice a week and sells through the huge shop, imagine the image that's been posted on here of crawshaws and think 30 times bigger that's the size of his shop he sells everything. That said there must be a gap in the market down in Yorkshire which crawshaws are filling. TK | thekida
21/3/2014 09:16 | If you haven't already seen this, it's well worth watching: | playful

19/3/2014 11:29 | Wow....forget the dog and his sausages just checkout our own new video just released today on the company website under 'About us and our shops' Take a tour round the Doncaster Frenchgate store.. hxxp://www.crawshawb Top marks to the management. I asked about making this video to help investors understand the scale and difference in a Crawshaw store compared to a conventional butcher about six weeks ago. This is visible proof that they not only create massive value for shareholders but also listen and appreciate the two way benefits of having a very good, passionate investor base. Together we are going places....indeed on Friday the new Sheffield store opens its doors to the public ! Exciting times.. | davidosh
