Expecting a 4% rise on the open based on the TSX close (they closed up 3.57% at 8pm our time, gold has since appreciated by a further $5).

I wonder if the price will be marked up at the open or will it be possible to buy on the bell at yesterdays close price?

Righto, fed raises, as expected; hawkish tone remains, just one dissenter. Gold flying and gdxj up >11%. All makes sense...

Hey jfishy - no sami sold his out from thise vehicles pretty much, But josef's are listed under his name and he has reduced significantly. His holding is down to ~25mln. Fair play for themto sell out they've made a bundle of cash for everyone, but it suggests to me that they have better places to deployit than keep it in cey. Cey is a great stock, but it doesn't have the upside potential of a new explorer with new mining rights in the area...

Hi Dimiti,

Well that is what I thought but I noticed in the most recent accounts that SER has only a small interest (circa 700,000) rather than the millions I expected, whereas JER seems to now have the millions. As such, I've wondered if he was passed control of the family trust...but perhaps he always had millions?

I agree that it is good news that no other directors have been selling & the share price seems to be back on track. If gold goes back up then we should see a new high.

Then there are the other positives we await:
- Court case.
- Diesel case.
- Burkino Faso & other locations.
- Exploration of other locations within the 160 sq.km.

And of course, the yield is very tempting. But can it be maintained? Depends on the price of gold...and there being no need to spend cash flow on other projects (but then that could be seen as positive too).

The only negatives I can think of are the CC or diesel case gong against CEY or Gold price dropping.

No Jfishy they were under his name. Sami held his in various trusts and vehicles and they seem to have sold out from what I can find on bloomberg or any other holdings list...

Andrew Pardey hasn't sold any and still has a decent size for him. Which makes me think the el raghy's have sold down to do something family only...

Again I don't think this is necessarily a negative, just an observation...

I wonder if the shares sold, whilst under the control of JER, were from a family trust. In which case it is possibly that a trustee has pointed out that the trust is overweight in a particular stock and perhaps diversification is in order to protect the trust for the future?!!

I think the el raghys end up bidding for exploration blocks in egypt, but in a new vehicle, once the terms become less onerous. It would explain josef's sales. Doesn't mean anything bad for cey, just why would you share the spoils with others, when you've already made shareholders billions and your family are the ones with the expertise and connections in the area?

I couldn't blame them and i'd certainly invest in the new company...

Jimbowen, my memory isn't what it was & this is from memory - but hopefully I remember correctly!

CEY chose not to bid for exploration blocks in the Eastern desert as they did not consider the terms to be very good. No other companies bid either - no blocks were take up. However, this isn't entirely onerous for CEY as they already have 160 square km to explore & exploit (exploitation subject to the outcome of law 32 or the court case).

CEY currently pays 3% royalty on gold sales and around 50% profit share for the E&E lease. This seems onerous, however, CEY pay no corporation tax in return & were able to massively de-risk the project by not paying any profit share until all capex was regained.

And so the terms seem not all that bad and CEY has plenty of land to explore. I think Kurdeman (for example) is an ex Roman mine.

Also, if memory serves, the El Raghys recognised the area from a map in a museum in Turin that showed old gold workings from Roman times and went exploring! (but perhaps that is my memory romanticising how CEY came into existence!)

CEY is now on the Goldman Sachs conviction buy list - which explains the strength Fri and today. Plenty more to come.

Thought miners would bounce today, after friday's px action, but this has been very impressive. Interesting given gold essentially flat on the day...

Jfishy - CEY have always said there is huge exploration potential in Egypt, but they have always said the government terms to explore are not competitive. Hopefully, this will change as I've no doubt there are a few other 'elephant' deposits in Egypt, given the lack of exploration.

There are a number of old Roman mines in the area (they mined visible gold) of which Sukhari was just one. I'm hoping for significant further finds :-)

I'm confident £2 will be the taken out if gold remains around current levels. Longer term, I feel CEY could be multiples of the current share price, given the potential size of the reserve (perhaps 20-30m Oz), higher production levels and other projects coming on line. None of this is factored in now.

Hi matt - Good morning

The info. is contained on page 8 of the Annual report. - It reads;

'Within the wider 160km2 exploitation lease, a number of additional prospect areas have been identified by reconnaissance field work, including geophysical/geochemical surveys and first-pass drilling. - These prospects offer the potential for satellite deposits to feed the existing processing plant with both high-grade and low-grade (bulk tonnage) ore. Exploration at these prospects is ongoing.' -

Encouraging what? - Note the comment 'to feed the existing (Sukari)processing plant' - Good luck - Rebs.

RebsCan I ask where have u heard they are exploring beyond the 3km confines of Sukari? That would imply L32 approval is imminent and they have been given a nod. Thanks Matt

Yup been scratching my head about when to reload. Gold and miners in general seemed keen to bounce off key levels on friday. Think i might be buying back in on Monday. Probably fres and hoc too.

Good morning everyone

One fact that might be of interest: - Centamin are now exploring beyond the 3km confines of Sukari into the extended area that formed the 160km lease. - I see this as a positive. - There seems to be a convergence of coincidence just now. The favourable utterings of the Egyptian Gov. in respect of Centamin, the coming together of the report re L32, the extended reach of exploration, the increased reserve estimates etc. etc. - It's a simmering pan about to come to the boil I feel. - Rebs
