07/7/2024 12:54 | cardinaltoo much of the mdr menus have been given over to gluten free, vegan etc...reducing the choice for the majority - the problem with p&o now is the big ships are rammed with chavs and their kids, the medium ships are fairly boring standard carnival ships with a poor layout and the smaller ships are old folks homes - their best ships orianna and oceania have been sold off | ![]() stansmith1
07/7/2024 10:33 | I think that standards are going down on the mass 5 star ships, but maintained on the expensive 6star lines. They've more or less got to fall on the big ships to keep prices low so they can fill them up. Those who don't like the £50pd rabble can spend £300 per day and get the old fashioned luxury cruise experience (or just go out of school holidays). So the market is catering for everyone by diverging. Standards have probably lowered continuously since the titanic as more capacity needed filling. People set their baseline on their first cruise, then say standards have dropped 5 years later. Same 100 years ago, same today I think. There's no better value for £50pd anywhere - that value is what will drive ccl and others higher imv. Of course the 50pd is just the lead in price, even on the 5 star mass ships you can pay £1000pd in suites and on board spend. currently i think its only special cases which are stopping the big ships - central venice, a couple of norwegian fjord stops etc. Many ports already aren't equipped to take the big ships anyhow. | pierre oreilly
06/7/2024 22:09 | I haven't been on a cruise (P+O) since Covid but reports I get from people who have is that the standards aren't so good - as some comments here refer to more limited menus for example. Also bigger ships are going to struggle in Europe as ports start to limit arrivals to keep tourist numbers in check. I can see upside for now as ships pack them in but medium term I am less convinced. | ![]() cardinal3

06/7/2024 12:46 | Good article 👍🏻 RCL share price has fully recovered, so these 2 items were of interest. "Royal Caribbean is the least leveraged of the three, with a net debt to ebitda of 4.7 times at the end of 2023." "Carnival, for example, expects its net debt to ebitda ratio to fall to 4.5 per cent this year." Finally, "Now is a good time for investors to get on board." | smurfy2001

02/7/2024 09:08 | They are certainly increasing the money extraction from punters when onboard. Meals at 125dollars well overbooked. Shows, not the theatre shows, at extra cost and packed. Everyone on stupidly high priced drinks packages, stupid tour prices always fully booked - seems that taking money off cruisers is very easy.Met a few gamblers who cruise non stop for nothing, but they have to keep betting to keep the perk. All claim to win overall in the casino! A bit like advfn traders. They subsidies my cruises. | pierre oreilly

28/6/2024 11:02 | Well chaps! The chart is starting to look really good. Could we go through the 14.00 barrier, if we do then we have a serious breakout. In the last nine months we have had three 14 night plus cruises with P & O its a shame that food standards, both quality and presentation have been allowed to slip so low. | ![]() sardine2
