10/6/2024 16:44 | pierre ah ok makes sense now - you dont know tlobs history on other boards, but jump to the conclusions (ironically accusing me of jumping to conclusions) telling me to look in the mirror... you seem awfully defensive about cruising, do you need to post about every cheap cruise you book? arent there cruise industry boards for that? why do you feel the need to bore everyone here? | stansmith1
10/6/2024 15:19 | pierreits as simple as me having my opinion on cruising currently, just because nothing puts you off doesnt mean that is the same for everybody...totally agree with postee complaing about arvia and iona - lovely ships, very well designed - but full of chavs (kids dancing on tables in mdr), mdr feels like a cafeteria , booking required in advance for entertainment ruins the spontaneity of your holiday, charges will likely be introduced for the entertainment as they are currently grooming you for that with 0.00 charges during booking, the main theatres have terrible design/sound and the entertainment is very poor, before you consider the number pf chavs that leave half way through - arvia and iona as a result need to be avoided | stansmith1
10/6/2024 15:18 | Should have Q2 results this month...expecting a profit and a juicy rise. | smurfy2001
09/6/2024 19:47 | Said before and will say again we will never go on Iona or Arvia again, due to the bad weather in the Canaries in March there were 5000+ people all inside of the ship for most of the 2 weeks one of the things we like about cruising is that it is very social talking with all sorts from all different walks of life, on Iona 6 times maybe more at about 8pm we said we were just peopled out and went back to our cabin to watch a film, never has that happened before on a cruise. We have been on the Independence of the seas that has around 4500 people on no such problem with them and one of the cruises on there was the Baltics where we had really bad weather so much so that we spent an extra night in St Petersburgh because they would not let us leave the harbour due to the high winds 4500 people all inside it was no where near as bad as it was on the Iona. 09/6/2024 06:48 | Your choice, mix with the chavs, and chavs who think they're above the rest of the chavs, at 50quid per day, or mix with the not so chavvy at 300 quid per day. Must say, the 3 or 4 feral morbidly obese youngish families on Iona which waddle along at 0.1 mph completely blocking the very wide aisles are a bit off putting. Their kids, also morbidly obese, should be taken into care imv. But there are several thousand others to mix with. The mega ships have to be downmarketish. Still amazing value. Cunard are charging higher prices these days to those who don't like Iona/arvia. Every cruise is what you make it. I like the lot. Once on board, avoid what and who you don't like and do what you do like, it's as simple as that. | pierre oreilly
08/6/2024 16:16 | gone down hill massively last ten years with chavs like yourself catching on | stansmith1
04/6/2024 15:34 | Cruises represent excellent value. Decent quality modern ships with high quality food and entertainment. Oh and free on board credit for shareholders :-) Far better value than staying in hotels, that's for sure. | tlobs2

03/6/2024 11:24 | Blue Skies For CruisingAnnie Lennox may have been channeling the cruise lines when she sang of traveling the world and the seven seas in her 1983 hit "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)." Today, millions are following her. The top cruise operators, Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and Royal Caribbean, are reporting record bookings. Royal Caribbean stock trades above its prepandemic price. Carnival shares are up 4% since Barron's highlighted the stock in early April. Norwegian caught an upgrade on Tues- day, and analysts launching coverage of newly pub- lic Viking Holdings have been giddy."The cruise industry has overcome a lot and is now set to see margins expand over the next several years," wrote Melius Research analyst Conor Cunningham. Despite previous boom-bust cycles, much has changed, he says. Companies are tapping a growing pool of potential customers rather than poaching from one another. "The cruise industry is 2% of a $5.4 trillion travel and tourism market," he writes. "The opportunity to capture just 100 basis points of share is huge for all players."New cruise travelers are likely to book another g trip. The value is compelling: It's often cheaper to book a cabin than a hotel room. The result of rising demand and constrained capacity-shipbuildin | ttcroft
